Teaching the Female Lead to Be Thick-Skinned, Not Shameless – Chapter 253

Chapter 253: Winning a Girl’s Heart—Something I Haven’t Been Afraid of Anyone for!

“Meng Jie, this is for you,” Huang Fei handed Shen Meng Jie her breakfast, grinning like he just handed her a treasure. “I think you’ll like this flavor.”

Shen Meng Jie looked at Huang Fei and let out a light laugh, her eyes twinkling like she had discovered some secret. “Thanks.”

She glanced around, saw Li Long Long and also caught sight of Xu Shuai trailing behind Wang Li Juan. She then retracted her gaze. “I really like it.”

Hearing her say she liked it, Huang Fei suddenly felt like he’d just been released from a spiritual shackles—like a giant weight had lifted off his chest.

Was it because he saw her smile? Probably. That’s gotta be it.

Honestly, she’s so real right in front of him… like a character from a manga come to life.

Shen Meng Jie shook her finger in front of Huang Fei’s face.

Suddenly snapping back to reality, she chuckled, “I told you already, staring at girls like that isn’t good—you keep forgetting, don’t you?”

“Because you’re really beautiful,” Huang Fei blurted out without thinking.

Suddenly, her words hit him right in the funny bone. He lowered his head, silently chuckling like a fool—there’s a unique charm in that laugh.

She rolled her eyes naturally. “I see you’re getting better at talking.”

“Oh, by the way, isn’t there someone else in your dorm? Why didn’t he come?”

Her tone carried a hint of veiled annoyance, almost impossible to catch.

Huang Fei sensed it and responded, “Old Ao had something come up, so he couldn’t make it—and uh, I hope you don’t hold it against him.”

Nobody knows his mind better than him: if Long Ao Tian didn’t see Huang Fei as a brother, he’d just think he was a big fool amusing himself. No way would he risk offending Shen Meng Jie just to tell him this.

Shen Meng Jie raised an eyebrow, leaned close to Huang Fei, a playful smile curling her lips. “Don’t women tend to be petty and vengeful?”

Huang Fei didn’t know what to say next.

Fortunately, Shen Meng Jie was just teasing him, then she moved next to Han Xiao Jing’s seat.

She rested her chin on her hand, lazily twirling her pen.

Huang Fei cast a meaningful glance at Shen Meng Jie, then approached Li Long Long.

“What’s going on here?” Huang Fei asked softly as he sat down.

“Seems like she still has some resentment towards Old Ao,” Li Long Long whispered.

“Come on, what resentment? Isn’t that what they say? If you don’t want people to know, just don’t do it…”

But seeing Huang Fei frowning and pondering, Li Long Long didn’t dare finish his sentence.

On one side, a brother; on the other, the girl he liked. Huang Fei’s heart was probably feeling pretty awkward too.

After class, Shen Meng Jie tidied up and headed toward the campus gate.

She still had a date today. Since she’s an honest person, she planned to keep her promise.

Who knew what kind of experience this would bring?

If it’s too boring, she’d come back early.

Thinking this, she reached outside the campus.

Far away, she saw a guy with black-rimmed glasses standing under a tree.

She walked over and suddenly stopped.

Hesitated for a moment, then pulled up her coat collar.

Her long, elegant neck and delicate, stunning collarbones were hidden under her clothes.

“Excuse me, are you Senior Wang?”

The beauty, as flawless as jade, stood before him. Bright, soulful eyes and a smile that seemed to talk as they spoke—one glance, and you were utterly mesmerized.

“Yes, I am. You must be Shen Meng Jie, Junior Shen?”

“Hmph! Senior didn’t recognize Meng Jie right away, but Meng Jie recognized him immediately on first glance!”

Though she was scolding him, Senior Wang scratched his head cluelessly, unsure what to say, only managing a goofy smile.

He looked like he’d lost his soul—literally a bit of his spirit floating away.

“No, no. I just didn’t see clearly. If I had seen, I’d recognize Junior Shen right away,” he hurried to explain.

Shen Meng Jie rolled her eyes dramatically. “Well, then I must be just a little petty for caring so much.”

The eye roll stunned Senior Wang into complete gape-mode. “N-No! I really didn’t mean it that way…”

Suddenly, Shen Meng Jie chuckled softly, her smile bright. “Just joking! Senior Wang promised to take me out to eat, right? Is that all we’re doing—standing here chatting?”

“Anyway, that’s it for now. I should head out.”

Senior Wang hurriedly stepped forward. “Junior Shen, earlier I promised to take you for a meal. Today’s meetup is a meal outing! We got so caught up chatting, how ‘bout we stop wasting time and go eat something?”

“Hahaha, with lofty ambitions in your heart—you’ll laugh at the heavens someday!”

Just then, a voice suddenly rang out.

Everyone—including Shen Meng Jie—looked in that direction!

Ye Liang Chen strolled out, hands in his pockets, grinning.

“Small world, huh? Nice to see you again,” he said, flipping his hair and giving Shen Meng Jie a quick nod.

After that, he turned to Senior Wang confidently, flipping his hair again. “Hello, Liang Chen here.”

Seeing Ye Liang Chen’s antics made Shen Meng Jie want to laugh—was he really trying to look cool? She wondered if he thought this was style.

“Sorry, I overheard your name just now. Junior Shen, can I borrow a moment? I need to talk with this guy,” Ye Liang Chen said with a playful smile, making her even more amused.

He waved nonchalantly, then moved aside, curious to see what kind of mischief this Ye Liang Chen would stir up next.

“What do you mean?”

Ye Liang Chen, seeing Shen Meng Jie leave, casually flicked his hair and said, “Brothers are out here chasing girls, gotta give a little face, or I’ll look bad. Nothing much else to say—here’s a hundred bucks. Let’s pretend to be cool.”

“A hundred bucks to act cool? Come on, if you’re not capable, don’t bother. At least three hundred!”

“Whoa, looking at your face, I’m better. And your vibe earlier? Totally lame. I’m just asking for a little mutual respect, mind knocking it up to three hundred?”

“At most, a hundred fifty.”

“Junior Shen is the one who invited me out. If you wanna act tough in front of her, you’re dead broke. Get lost and go find your mom—leave us to have our lunch!”

He scoffed and turned to walk toward Shen Meng Jie.

“Heh, I’m really laughing now. I mean, I’m genuinely cracking up!” Ye Liang Chen spun around, facing Shen Meng Jie, and then directly followed. “Honestly, when it comes to impressing girls, I’ve never been afraid of anybody!”

Inside the restaurant.

Ye Liang Chen sat right beside them.

No matter what Senior Wang said, he just snorted and took a sip of soda, shaking his head like this was just a fun little show…

Once or twice, okay, maybe they just thought it was funny.

But three or four times? That’s plain intentional.

Senior Wang suddenly slammed his hand on the table, glaring at Ye Liang Chen. “Are you deliberately causing trouble?”

Shen Meng Jie watched this scene and sighed helplessly…

If it had been Long Ao Tian, he’d probably have sorted everything right from the start…

She shook her head, unable to stop thinking about Long Ao Tian.

Without interest, there was no reason to stay any longer.

Shen Meng Jie got up. “Senior Wang, I’ll head out first,” she said, grabbing her stuff and turning to leave.

Ye Liang Chen was about to chase after her but was suddenly stopped by Senior Wang. “You’ve blown my date and now you want to leave?”

The consequence of staying up late reading novels is that one day, after pulling an all-nighter, you close your eyes and open them again, only to find yourself transmigrated into the role of a villainous male supporting character. Readers familiar with urban wish-fulfillment novels know that it is only through the relentless antics of the villainous male supporting character that the plot between the male and female leads can progress. As the villainous male supporting character, Long Aotian not only has to bully the female lead, harass the second female lead, and flirt with the third female lead, but he also has to go all out to antagonize the male lead. In the end, when his body is discovered, he is still clutching half a moldy fried dough stick in his hand. Fully aware of the plot, Long Aotian is determined to change his fate, starting with the female lead! In the beginning, the female lead lacks confidence: “Big brother, I hope I didn’t scare you?” In the middle, the female lead treads carefully: “Brother Long, please don’t hit me, okay?” Later on, the female lead becomes coquettishly clingy: “Aotian, it’s time to pay the ‘public grain’ tonight.” Long Aotian’s legs go weak, and he feels like crying: “I taught you to be thick-skinned, not shameless!”
