Chapter 298: Marry You and Bring You Home as My Wife, Deal or No Deal?
The next morning.
Sunlight peeked through the window, casting a warm glow on the bed. Long eyelashes fluttered slightly before slowly opening, revealing a pair of lazily half-asleep eyes. The girl, still groggy, instinctively stretched her body, trying to shake off the sleep.
Suddenly recalling something, she immediately stopped stretching and carefully sat up from the bed.
She checked the time—no visiting relatives today. With a gentle gaze, her eyes softened as they settled on her little belly.
In her daze, a happiness smile involuntarily crept across her face.
Taking a deep breath, she quietly sat up.
Then she started changing clothes and washing up. Starting today, she decided, she’d have a regular breakfast—more nutritious ones too!
Downstairs she headed toward the nearest cafeteria.
The sunshine was just right; a cool breeze tousled her hair and lifted her mood, which was already pretty decent.
She snuck a quick glance at the figure sitting on a bench.
Her steps slowed, and a flicker of confusion danced in her eyes.
Something felt off, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it.
Shouldn’t Dragon Brother be out doing morning exercises by now?
But that silhouette was just… so familiar. Her heartbeat inexplicably sped up.
She looked back again.
In a flash, her eyes welled up with a smile—the kind that curves beautifully into a crescent moon.
Wow, her heart really does recognize him first… even before her brain.
From this angle, she could see his beautiful side profile—today, her Dragon Brother had his hair tied up high, revealing a fair, slender neck, full of lively energy.
“Dragon Brother?”
Her voice carried a hint of disbelief and surprise.
“Little Sidekick,” Dragon Brother responded with a smile, standing up from the bench. He greeted the sunlight with confident steps, heading straight toward her.
In her line of sight, she watched her Dragon Brother approach her step by step.
He looked a bit exhausted today—reddish bl**d vessels in his eyes, probably from staying up all night. Even the bags under his eyes looked faintly bluish.
“Dragon Brother, did you not rest well?” she asked softly, her tender fingertips lightly poking at the dark circles under his eyes.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
Feeling her gentle touch on his face, Dragon Brother slightly leaned down, his tone softening too.
He hadn’t slept all night, rushing from T University to A University at dawn.
Fortunately, he had been to A University once with Little Girl before; he even saw her back to her dorm once. Still, it took a long search—until he finally found her.
Hu Yu Ying knew exactly what Dragon Brother was implying. A small sigh escaped her—Sunshine was a big traitor.
“My mood’s been a bit tangled up, I don’t really know what to say. Maybe Auntie Mother just delayed her period, so I didn’t tell you,” she mumbled quietly.
“What if that’s not the case?” Dragon Brother wanted to understand her true feelings.
If it’s not Auntie Mother delaying her period, what does Hu Yu Ying really think?
Hearing this, she quietly looked up at him. Their eyes met.
Caught in the act, she no longer felt shy—instead, she winked at him. Her bright, lively eyes shimmered like a rainbow, building a bridge between their gazes.
“So… Dragon Brother, do you like me?”
Dragon Brother looked seriously into Hu Yu Ying’s eyes. Her pupils were darker and brighter than most, showing a straightforward honesty as she gazed right back at him.
“I like you. Of course I like you.”
Hu Yu Ying smiled brightly, “If Dragon Brother likes me, I’d be happy to be your girl!”
At that moment, Dragon Brother seemed to be completely infected—by a mysterious toxin called Hu Yu Ying, seeping into his bones and soul. He was convinced he’d never escape it.
He carefully pulled her into a hug.
Feeling the warmth of her Dragon Brother, inhaling his scent, she gently patted his back.
Hu Yu Ying knew exactly where Dragon Brother stood—so she was happy too.
“Dragon Brother, I don’t even know if it’s Auntie Mother delaying her period or if I’ve got something else. So, we should wait and see,” she said.
“Alright, I’ll trust you.”
Whatever it is, Dragon Brother had already made up his mind.
“You didn’t sleep well all night, did you?” Hu Yu Ying leaned close to his ear, whispering softly. “Your dark circles tell all.”
“I missed you all night,” he said dotingly, pinching her little face. “Why get up so early?”
“Because breakfast is waiting! Come on, let’s see the school cafeteria—it’s really good,” she tugged his hand, leading him toward the nearest food court.
At A University’s cafeteria, the variety was even richer, and the dishes looked delicious.
Hu Yu Ying grabbed two trays, then turned back to Dragon Brother, smiling sweetly. “Dragon Brother, save a seat. I’ll go get the food.”
He wrinkled his nose in protest but couldn’t stop her.
Since they arrived early, the queue for food was surprisingly empty. Dragon Brother let her do her thing.
She chose a seat nearby.
Soon enough, Hu Yu Ying carried her tray over.
She still remembered that in her senior year of high school, Dragon Brother was the one always bringing her food. Now, she could finally do the same for him.
Her mood couldn’t be better.
“See? The cafeteria’s food really is plentiful. I wasn’t joking, Dragon Brother.”
“You cook even better,” he complimented her.
Hearing that, Hu Yu Ying bit her lip shyly, smiling with her eyes. She secretly cast a glance at him—feeling a blush creeping up her cheeks. “Then I’ll cook for Dragon Brother from now on.”
“Yeah.” Dragon Brother took a spoonful of porridge, then silently glanced at Hu Yu Ying, coughing lightly. His legs started trembling uncontrollably.
“Would you like to marry me and bring me home as your wife?” he blurted.
Hu Yu Ying paused, her mouth slightly open. She seemed to have forgotten how to chew, her eyes flickering like she couldn’t quite process his words.
Staring dreamy-eyed and serious at Dragon Brother, she shyly asked, “Dragon, Dragon Brother, what did you just say?”
“I said, I want to marry you and bring you home as my wife,” Dragon Brother’s leg trembled fiercely.
His voice wasn’t loud, but in her ears, it was deafening—an overwhelming sense that made her scalp tingle, her mind go blank, and her heart pound wildly.
She quietly stole a glance at him.
He appeared calm, but his flushed face betrayed him. His legs still shook, revealing his nervousness.
In just a moment, Hu Yu Ying nodded dumbly, softly saying, “Mm.”
There was no intense excitement, no shyness overflowed, no tears of joy—just a calm, ordinary moment like two people chatting.
Yet, the smiles in their eyes were perfectly synchronized, filled with pure happiness.
And their hearts? Like giant drums, pounding together, unbeatably loud.
In a shared glance, they suddenly couldn’t hold back—both burst out laughing simultaneously.
