Chapter 312: Hmph, Looking at Brother Dragon and Still Not Telling Me Anything
The three little troublemakers just can’t help themselves—they’re always up to some kind of playful chaos whenever they’re together.
Suddenly, Lin Wan Ning’s phone vibrated with a lively buzz.
She pulled it out and took a look.
Her usually cool and smiling eyes flashed brightly at the sight.
It’s her big brother.
Seeing the message from her brother, Lin Wan Ning couldn’t help but feel regretful—if she knew it would turn out like this, she’d have just stayed home.
Her brother: “Wan Ning, Ah Ying told you, right? Come home for lunch later. I’ll pick you up and we’ll head to A University.”
She felt a little desperate—this should’ve been a brother-and-sister day out.
She hadn’t even been on his bike before; maybe she still had a shot at a hug or two.
Honestly, her brother remembered her… right?
With a sigh, she decided to tell her brother she had already arrived at A University.
She tucked her phone away and glanced at Hu Yu Ying and Li Qing Xue, who were still frolicking around, and said, “My brother says he’ll be here in ten minutes.”
“That’s perfect timing,” Li Qing Xue said, doing a quick mental calculation, feeling the gap wasn’t much.
“Quick, let’s not keep Brother Dragon waiting,” Hu Yu Ying grabbed Li Qing Xue and Lin Wan Ning, hustling toward the school gate.
“Or better yet, don’t keep us waiting,” Li Qing Xue teased with a smile. “Soon, you’ll be in the car heading home, while Wan Ning and I suffer through the subway ride.”
“Oh my god, I’m about to go crazy…” Lin Wan Ning let out a long sigh, feeling like she had missed out on a fortune.
“Ah Ying, look at Wan Ning,” Li Qing Xue said, “she looks a little anxious.”
“You’re the chatty one, Qing Xue.”
Today, Li Qing Xue was just too ecstatic.
When the three small troublemakers arrived outside the school, Brother Dragon A1 had just pulled up.
“Look at you panting—don’t you even know what your body’s like?” Dragon Brother smirked as he wiped the imaginary sweat on Hu Yu Ying’s forehead with his finger, not bothering to hide his teasing tone.
He Realized Little Missy was really a tiger—doesn’t even bother to protect her own health.
“Brother, stop picking on Yu Ying,” she said, “It’s all my fault for wanting to see you sooner. Didn’t want to make you wait too long.”
“Exactly, exactly—don’t blame Ah Ying, we won’t have it,” the girls chorused.
“Hmph, see? Brother Dragon doesn’t want to tell me anymore,” Lin Wan Ning pouted and hissed.
Dragon Brother chuckled, “Haha, you three girls teaming up now?”
“Just teaming up, just teaming up,” Li Qing Xue bolted first, giggling.
“Dumb brother, dumb brother,” Lin Wan Ning followed right behind.
Before Hu Yu Ying could react, the other two had already run off.
Just as she was about to chase after them, Brother Dragon caught her.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
Hu Yu Ying shrank her neck, looking at him with big, pitiful eyes, trying to act cute: “Brother, I didn’t say anything bad about you, really.”
Watching her pouting and acting all innocent, Dragon Brother leaned in, whispering in her ear, “Haven’t you heard of ‘k*ll the chicken to warn the monkey’?”
He gently brushed her nose with his finger, then put her helmet on her head: “When we get home tonight, I’ll spoil you even more.”
His ambiguous tone made her ears turn red—she felt her cheeks heat up uncontrollably, blushing so cutely it made his heart melt.
“Get in the car, I’ll take you shopping,” he said. With the keys in their hands, the other two girls could open the door themselves later, so no worries there.
“Okay,” Hu Yu Ying obediently nodded, hopping into the back seat.
Watching Brother Dragon’s broad back, she quickly smiled and snuggled up to him.
“Foolish smiling,” she thought, but her smile was infectious, especially when she saw herself grinning like that—she couldn’t help but laugh.
“Not just a foolish smile,” she said softly.
“Are you settled in?”
“All good.”
They jumped on the little electric scooter, heading off with her in tow, quickly catching up to Li Qing Xue and Lin Wan Ning: “Wait at home, I’ll be back after shopping.”
Brother Dragon loudly called out as he passed by the girls.
“Got it,” they chorused back.
On the street, Hu Yu Ying whispered softly, “Brother Dragon, do you want to add anything else to the dishes?”
“I’m good with anything—I’m pretty easy to please, not picky.”
“There’s still potatoes at home, so maybe some green peppers, Sichuan pepper, and chicken nuggets?” she suggested.
Dragon Brother glanced back, smiling as he gently reached out and held her small hand: “Marry you, and I feel like I’ll save a lot of money in a year.”
“Of course! I’ll definitely be thrifty—I won’t let Brother Dragon spend a single extra coin,” she vowed happily.
“I’m so lucky,” he said.
Hu Yu Ying gently pinched the soft flesh on his waist: “Brother, are you teasing me?”
Dragon Brother burst out laughing, “Who dares! Having you catch me all the time, spoiling you isn’t even enough!”
She nuzzled his back with her nose: “I think I’m sick—if I don’t hold on, I can’t sleep.”
“What sickness? I just like being held by you,” he said affectionately.
“Haha, thanks for indulging my little quirk, Brother Dragon,” she said, hugging his waist again—she loved this kind of Brother Dragon who would do anything for her.
Little Missy was always easily satisfied.
Whether physically or emotionally, she truly was the perfect little girl in Brother Dragon’s heart.
As they continued chatting, they arrived at the market.
Hu Yu Ying went shopping while Dragon Brother carried the bags. Their sweet interactions around the vendors drew envious glances from passersby.
Old folks who headed out for vegetables and eggs couldn’t help but smile kindly, perhaps seeing a bit of their younger selves…
When they returned to the courtyard, they didn’t see Li Qing Xue and Lin Wan Ning.
But the open door and cleaned pots proved they had arrived.
Curious about where the two girls had gone, they then heard voices coming from inside.
Following the sound, they saw the girls wandering in a room still under renovation.
The layout was fully knocked through, preserving much of the traditional courtyard style, with interior decor carefully discussed and refined—modern, minimalist, with a touch of Nordic flair.
The main color scheme kept the original wood tones, making everything look very inviting at a glance.
“Wow, doesn’t this layout look just like the ideas I gave Dragon Brother? Once it’s done, it’ll look amazing. Brother Dragon, you must secretly be happy,” Lin Wan Ning said quietly.
She didn’t speak, instead focusing on another room that looked simple, rustic, perhaps with an American countryside vibe.
When Brother Dragon had planned to redo the house, Hu Yu Ying and the others had all offered ideas—though none of them knew a lick of renovation, just imagined what their perfect dream rooms should look like.
Unexpectedly, he made them all real.
She felt a rush of excitement.
“Sure, sure, all thanks to your suggestions—you’re blessed,” she whispered.
Hearing the noise, they turned around to see Hu Yu Ying and Brother Dragon with groceries.
“You finally came back,” they said happily.
“Shopping took a little longer, but we’re ready—time to start cooking!”
