Chapter 377: Dragon Brother, It’s You Again
Lin Wan Ning shrugged her shoulders dramatically. “Brother did such things to you! We absolutely must have Sister come punish him—she’s the boss here.”
Hearing this, Li Qing Xue plopped herself onto the bed, totally not at all how she imagined things would go.
Why isn’t Lin Wan Ning terrified of Hu Yu Ying finding out?
Before she could even finish pondering that, Lin Wan Ning’s phone rang loudly.
The caller ID? “Sister.”
No need to guess—obviously Hu Yu Ying.
Watching Li Qing Xue staring blankly, Lin Wan Ning couldn’t help but chuckle. She gently patted Li Qing Xue’s shoulder. “It’s okay, all Brother’s fault.”
Then she shot a gleaming, ‘You’re totally doomed’ look at Dragon Bro and sashayed out of the room like a queen leaving a disaster zone.
Seeing her walk out, Li Qing Xue suddenly knew—she’d totally played herself this time.
All she wanted was to get involved, taste the thrill of Dragon Brother’s world, and threaten him into promising not to do any more bad deeds behind Hu Yu Ying’s back, to set everything back on track.
But nope, she ended up losing herself in the mess. Now she’s worried Hu Yu Ying might never forgive her, and a tear welled up again.
Sniffling, she looked at Dragon Bro with pouty eyes. “It’s all your fault! If Ah Ying doesn’t forgive me, I’ll never talk to you again…”
Dragon Bro, fully aware he messed up, curled up into a ball, buried his face under the blanket, and didn’t dare look Hu Yu Ying in the eye. This time, it was all his own doing, from start to finish.
Soon, the door swung open, and Hu Yu Ying stomped in, fuming.
Li Qing Xue dared not look directly at her, fully prepared for the classic TV smackdown. But, as expected, Hu Yu Ying’s furious voice rang out: “Dragon Brother, It’s You Again!”
Shoes and socks off in one swift movement, she kicked Dragon Bro’s b*tt on the bed.
“Ahem,” she scolded angrily. “What did you promise me? I just forgave you—how come you’re messing up again? What do you want, huh?”
“Even a rabbit knows not to nibble on the neighbor’s carrot patch, but you keep reaching out to the person who still has a little bit of good will for you!”
“All three of us sisters—you have no respect for any of us…”
“Dragon Brother, you’ve gone way too far!”
Li Qing Xue, waiting on the sidelines, was stunned. Ah Ying shouldn’t have just stormed over, slapped him, and started questioning whether she—their best friend—had betrayed her?
Seeing Hu Yu Ying laying down the law, kicking his b*tt, and looking so bitter she couldn’t even find words to explain, poor Dragon Bro looked genuinely pitiable…
Hu Yu Ying had never even called his name directly before; now she did, out of pure fury.
“I—I didn’t do it on purpose,” he finally managed to stammer out.
“You mean Qing Xue did it on purpose? Did she really lure you into doing bad stuff?” Hu Yu Ying snapped.
“No, no… it’s all a misunderstanding…” Oh, man. Dragon Bro’s brain was a mess, totally unclear on how to explain himself. Honestly, if it wasn’t happening to him, he’d find it hard to believe too.
Just then, the sign on Room 6, which was loose and fell down, changed from number 6 to 9.
He opened the door—luckily it was unlocked. The room was dark; the lights weren’t on. Only a slightly open curtain let him see the person lying on the bed…
“Are you okay?” Hu Yu Ying asked softly, switching her tone to concern.
Before Li Qing Xue could respond, Lin Wan Ning cut in quickly. “Qing Xue was crying the whole time—from start to finish.”
Hu Yu Ying cast a dull look at Dragon Bro’s broad frame. “You’re always so rough.”
Li Qing Xue, confused from beginning to end, realized Ah Ying hadn’t called her, had even cared—so she shook her head repeatedly, feeling ashamed and whispering, “I’m fine…”
“Let’s go—leave him alone to reflect,” Hu Yu Ying said sternly.
The three of her went out, and only then did Dragon Bro dare to lift his head and look at them.
Lin Wan Ning tried to hide her smile as she made eye contact with Dragon Bro. “Reflect on yourself, okay?”
She was about to leave when she suddenly looked back and saw Dragon Bro’s things still in the room.
Just one glance, and her eyes flickered with something—a tiny surprise. She picked up his stuff, examined it carefully.
Then, suddenly, she covered her red lips with her hand, hurried to Dragon Bro’s side, cupped his face, and planted a kiss. “Thank you, Brother.”
“Wan Ning, help me undo it,” Dragon Bro begged, rubbing his palms together in a plea.
Lin Wan Ning shook her head seriously. “Nope. I listen to Brother… but I listen more to Sister. Since she hasn’t spoken, you better stay here and reflect properly.”
She closed the door gently behind her, a kind smile on her face…
Meanwhile, downstairs, Hu Yu Ying and the other two said nothing.
Especially Li Qing Xue—she kept sneakily glancing at Hu Yu Ying and then quickly looking away, feeling everything was so different from her fantasies.
In her mind, Dragon Bro would be crying and begging her not to tattletale.
Then she, all serious with fists on her hips, would tell him how wrong he was.
And finally, with her wise words, he’d find his way back to the righteous path.
Now? She’s a woman, she’s tasted Dragon Bro’s flavor, and she’s protecting everyone…
“You’ve already peeked at me twelve times,” Hu Yu Ying suddenly said, glancing at Li Qing Xue with a gentle smile.
Li Qing Xue clutched Hu Yu Ying’s hand in helplessness. “Ah Ying, I—I’m sorry.”
“I… I just wanted to… to stop him from doing wrong…”
She suddenly didn’t know how to finish her words. Saying it outright would be like betraying Lin Wan Ning, wouldn’t it?
Suddenly, hurried footsteps approached. Lin Wan Ning scampered over happily, showing Hu Yu Ying and Li Qing Xue what she held.
“Look, sis! The audition application notice for the Happy Woman Voice contest.”
Hu Yu Ying took a quick glance and finally smiled for Lin Wan Ning. “Well, at least she did something proper!”
“Did you let him go?”
Lin Wan Ning shook her head like a paddleball. “Brother wanted me to help him untie it, but I listened to Sister, of course.”
Hu Yu Ying nodded. “He deserves a punishment. All three of us have been totally played by him.”
Li Qing Xue blinked blankly—wait, all three of us? Completely played by him?
