Chapter 54: Maybe I Can Help You with Your Makeup Classes
Looking at Ye Liang Chen’s reply, Li Qing Xue helplessly put her phone down.
She really had no idea how to respond.
Ye Liang Chen wasn’t like this before; why did he suddenly seem like a different person?
In Li Qing Xue’s worldview—no, let’s be precise, in everyone’s worldview—there’s nothing wrong with romance.
Li Qing Xue envisioned that if two people truly loved each other, even if they weren’t together at the moment, they’d still shine in their respective fields and eventually meet again.
But Ye Liang Chen’s outlook on love was a whole different ball game.
It seemed that in the face of college entrance exams, he still felt that romance held the reins of his life.
Her thoughts drifted to what Dragon Brother had once said:
“Love is beautiful for everyone. But a healthy relationship should be about mutual growth, not getting increasingly tangled in each other’s drama.”
Staring at the math problems in front of her, Li Qing Xue sent Ye Liang Chen the neatly organized study materials she had prepared.
This was all she could do to help him right now.
As soon as she exited the chat, she saw that Ye Liang Chen had updated his status again.
Out of habit, she clicked to check it out.
“If only I had held back and not made friends back then. But a knight is still just a knight; after all, even knights get tired sometimes. (Accompanied by a picture of a shadow under a streetlight in the rain.)”
Reading this, Li Qing Xue fell into silence for a moment.
“If you had only held back from being friends? Are you… regretting being friends with me?”
“I just don’t want to be distracted by romance during the exam period…”
Taking a deep breath, she shook her head vigorously. “Nope! Can’t get tangled in this; can’t let it get deeper!”
After composing herself, she closed her phone and chose to dive back into her homework instead.
But deep down, she couldn’t help but feel a little affected. How could she possibly be indifferent?
Nine years! They’d known each other for nine whole years, and now he was saying he regretted meeting her back then.
Frustrated, she tugged at her long hair and sat cross-legged on her bed, opening the curtains and listening to the sound of raindrops against the window.
After a while, Li Qing Xue stretched out, pulled out her headphones, and played some music. “Ah, yes, this method really helps relieve stress.”
With a knowing smile, she listened to music and watched the rain, feeling her mood gradually settle down.
The next morning.
Li Qing Xue turned off her alarm, sunlight streaming in and driving away the dreary rain from the day before.
After the heavy rain, today’s sky looked especially blue.
“The weather’s amazing today!”
She said this while getting up, dressing, washing up, and leaving home with a sandwich and some milk.
She jogged all the way to the lakeside, breathing heavily, her originally pale cheeks now flushed from the exercise.
She radiated the youthful spirit appropriate for her age.
Once she arrived, Li Qing Xue took out her sandwich and milk.
She walked from the west end of the lakeside to the east end.
But she still couldn’t find the person she was looking for.
Checking her phone, she muttered, “It’s usually around this time.”
“Maybe he’s at the pavilion?”
Thinking this, her feet already headed in that direction.
From afar, she saw the pavilion was empty.
Returning to the lakeside, she sat in Dragon Brother’s favorite sunbathing spot, resting her chin on her hands and staring blankly at the flowing water.
Before long, Li Qing Xue took a page out of Dragon Brother’s book and lay down on the grass, using leaves to cover her eyes.
As her vision faded, her other senses felt like they were magnified in that instant.
The rustling of the grass in the wind, the sound of the water flowing—it made Li Qing Xue smile faintly. It seemed she could understand why Dragon Brother loved covering his eyes with leaves so much.
Maybe he wasn’t bored after all.
Perhaps he genuinely enjoyed the beauty of nature that the environment produced.
It turns out, the surroundings don’t always need to be seen with the eyes; they can also be heard with the ears.
Taking a deep breath, she moved the leaves from her eyes.
Placing her palm over her eyelids, she felt the sensation of sunlight filtering through her fingers.
Warm and comfortable.
Her heart was tranquil, chaotic, all in a fleeting moment.
As time passed and the sun rose higher, Li Qing Xue got up, dusted herself off, and stretched lazily before leaving.
Back on campus, under Hu Yu Ying’s guidance, Dragon Brother’s study routine gradually stabilized.
To prepare for the upcoming monthly exams, Hu Yu Ying worked even harder than Dragon Brother, becoming quite the little taskmaster.
Usually, Hu Yu Ying could be quite charming, but when it came to studying, she was utterly serious.
Though her pretend-seriousness somehow made her even cuter…
Life didn’t seem to change much, yet everything felt different.
“Please, please!” Li Qing Xue said sweetly to her male classmate standing in front of her.
The guy gulped nervously, but when he turned to Dragon Brother, he instinctively shook his head.
If it were anyone else, he’d gladly help pass messages, but dealing with Dragon Brother was a whole different story.
He might just end up getting another round of beatings!
“You can just call him directly here,” the classmate suggested.
Li Qing Xue looked around at her classmates who were all buried in their studies and hesitated to call out softly.
Little Master, there’s more to this chapter, so please click the next page to continue reading. It’s going to get even more exciting!
Dragon Brother looked up in confusion.
Seeing him glance over, Li Qing Xue smiled and waved from the classroom door.
While Hu Yu Ying was explaining a problem, she noticed that Dragon Brother was distracted, so she followed his gaze.
Hu Yu Ying remembered Li Qing Xue distinctly; she had spoken to Dragon Brother before.
“I’ll step out for a bit,” Dragon Brother said and stood up to head towards the door.
Watching his back, Hu Yu Ying’s mood dimmed slightly as her gaze fell to the sunny, cheerful Li Qing Xue waiting by the classroom door.
“Why didn’t you go to that place today?” Li Qing Xue asked Dragon Brother.
To be honest, Li Qing Xue still didn’t really know what she was thinking.
She just suddenly wanted to know why Dragon Brother hadn’t been to the lakeside today.
If she had to come up with a reason, it might be a fleeting concern between friends.
After all, Dragon Brother had ventured out in the rain last Saturday morning; what if he caught a cold?
Dragon Brother naturally knew what Li Qing Xue was referring to and chuckled, “I have extra classes on Sunday mornings.”
As he surveyed Li Qing Xue up and down, he added, “Not tangled up in things anymore?”
Li Qing Xue had a hint of excitement and fervor about her…
“I’m totally not tangled up! I even thought you might have gotten sick from all that rain on Saturday!” she joked, “If you need extra help, perhaps I could help you with those classes.”
(Powering up love with a crazy hint…)
