Teaching the Female Lead to Be Thick-Skinned, Not Shameless – Chapter 58

Chapter 58: I Will Obediently Listen to Big Brother

Time flies like a ninja with a sugar rush.

Dragon Brother? Well, he’s been freeloading at Hu Yu Ying’s house every day lately. No one really asked him to, but whatever, free meals are the best meals.

Over this period, Dragon Brother couldn’t shake the feeling—probably all in his head—that little Hu Yu Ying looked a lot chunkier. Yep, her face had gained some meat, making her look a little less mouse-y and a lot more… hmm, charming? Enigmatic? Yeah, more of that “don’t mess with me” kind of charm.

How to describe it? It’s like she’s got natural enchanting bones from some fantasy novel—just a bit young and a little green. The thought of her growing up, maturing, becoming even more stunning—I dare not imagine.

All in all, this girl is definitely a protagonist material. No surprise there.

Suddenly, the weekend was upon them—end of the week, Mocks time! Not your usual little quizzes, no, these were the real deal—evocative of the college entrance exams. The entire 12th grade was shuffled and scrambled like eggs on a busy breakfast plate.

Dragon Brother got a seat number that meant he’d be in Class 6, last row, next door. Hu Yu Ying was smack in the middle of Class 1. Talk about a difference.

“Why so nervous?” Dragon Brother cast a sidelong glance at Hu Yu Ying, trying to brighten her mood. “Come on, relax! You’re making me kinda nervous here.”

Hu Yu Ying looked at her seat number, her heart doing somersaults. Since transferring, she’d taken a bunch of class quizzes—pretty decent scores, too. But this? This was the first time she and Dragon Brother were in different classes, and her feelings were all mixed up—excitement, anxiety, a bit of “I don’t wanna be far from him.” Yeah, it was complicated.

“I—I’m not nervous,” she whispered, voice barely audible.

“Big deal, what’s there to be all weird about? We’re still in the same school,” Dragon Brother said, smirking.

He chuckled. “Imagine if you got into college, went to a strange city, got a new class—wouldn’t you want to hide in a corner?”

Hu Yu Ying lowered her eyes, nervous but curious. “Are you nervous too, Brother?”

Dragon Brother paused, a bit uncomfortable, and looked out the window. “Wasn’t nervous at first… till you asked. Now I’m a little jittery.”

With Hu Yu Ying’s support, he learned a lot about himself. Right now was the perfect chance to test what he’d learned—so, yes, he was a bit nervous. First big mock exam in recent memory, after all.

Her eyes widened as she took it all in, then suddenly looked up—our gaze met, and both of them couldn’t help but burst out laughing. Instant tension gone.

“Relax, my little teacher,” Dragon Brother said softly.

Hu Yu Ying nodded vigorously. “I believe in you, Big Brother. You’re going to make big progress this time.”

Just like he said, as long as she kept her goal in mind, her steps wouldn’t stop. There might be hurdles, thorns, and all that jazz, but walking forward was the only way to get closer to what she wanted.

“Yeah, that’s the spirit,” Dragon Brother clenched his fist, determination glowing in his eyes. “If you’re top of the class this time, I’ll take you out for something good this weekend.”

Hu Yu Ying chuckled, a little embarrassed but happy. “Don’t treat me like a three-year-old, I’m already eighteen.”

That’s what she said, but inside, she was thrilled. When her parents were around, they’d always say, “Ying, if you do well on this exam, we’ll take you to the amusement park!”

She secretly looked at Dragon Brother, biting her lip softly. “You can’t always just spoil me like this.”

“I swear I won’t,” Dragon Brother promised.

Heh, she wasn’t buying it. He’d already tricked her twice—no way she’d forget so easily.

Are girls all this stubborn? Well, she was already grinning.

With Dragon Brother’s assurance, Hu Yu Ying smiled brightly. “Alright, I’ll do my best this time!”

“It’s not just ‘try,’ it’s ‘must,’” Dragon Brother said, fiercely. “If I don’t see your name in the top three, I’ll beat you to a pulp!”

Hu Yu Ying nodded again quickly. “Got it. But what if I mess up?”

“What?” Dragon Brother tapped her on the head. “You dare to mess up?”

She hugged her head shyly—no pain, but inside, a little thrill. Time to focus on her studies.

Hu Yu Ying strode forward with confidence about herself: her academic results. That was her strongest point. When it came to exams, she would not slack off, not because she wasn’t confident, but because she cared. And just thinking about Dragon Brother’s concern made her heart warm.

“Tomorrow, no need to wake early to cook. Let’s eat at school,” Dragon Brother stretched lazily.

“No need to spend money. I’ll cook at home—faster and less trouble,” Hu Yu Ying replied.

Dragon Brother, still yawning, reached out and gently pinched her soft cheek. “Trying to talk back again?”

“I cook really fast,” she whispered.

“Can’t believe you—disobedient girl. You don’t listen to your big brother?” he said, pretending to be serious.

“Don’t beat me. I’ll obediently listen to you,” she hurried to reassure.

“Much better,” he nodded.

Next morning.

Dragon Brother bought two sausages and two eggs, then happily saw Hu Yu Ying off to Class 1.

“See you in evening self-study,” he said, about to leave.

“Big Brother,” she called after him. He turned, raising an eyebrow. “Can I find you during the break after the exam?”

“I’m in Class 6, last row. Same old place,” he answered.

“Alright,” she nodded, finally feeling reassured. She walked into her classroom.

Everyone saw this gorgeous girl conversing with the Big Boss Dragon Brother—can’t help but glance her way. Just a quick look, no big deal.

Class 6.

“We’re so lucky, hehe,” Wang Rui said happily, glancing at Li Qing Xue across the aisle.

They used to be seatmates, so after assigned seats, they just sat across the aisle—almost like being side by side.

“Come on, let’s do our best,” Li Qing Xue said, giving her a thumb-up.

Suddenly, Wang Rui’s bright smile froze—a stiff expression took over her face.

“What’s wrong? Why that weird look?” Li Qing Xue asked, following her gaze.

And she saw a tall, muscular boy walking into the classroom…

【Thanks to the boys and girls for the gifts and support—really, love you guys!】

The consequence of staying up late reading novels is that one day, after pulling an all-nighter, you close your eyes and open them again, only to find yourself transmigrated into the role of a villainous male supporting character. Readers familiar with urban wish-fulfillment novels know that it is only through the relentless antics of the villainous male supporting character that the plot between the male and female leads can progress. As the villainous male supporting character, Long Aotian not only has to bully the female lead, harass the second female lead, and flirt with the third female lead, but he also has to go all out to antagonize the male lead. In the end, when his body is discovered, he is still clutching half a moldy fried dough stick in his hand. Fully aware of the plot, Long Aotian is determined to change his fate, starting with the female lead! In the beginning, the female lead lacks confidence: “Big brother, I hope I didn’t scare you?” In the middle, the female lead treads carefully: “Brother Long, please don’t hit me, okay?” Later on, the female lead becomes coquettishly clingy: “Aotian, it’s time to pay the ‘public grain’ tonight.” Long Aotian’s legs go weak, and he feels like crying: “I taught you to be thick-skinned, not shameless!”
