Chapter 59: The Mysterious Wave of Emotions
“Dragon Brother.” Li Qing Xue peered outside the classroom and waved cheerfully, giving a friendly hello.
Just as Long Aotian strolls into the classroom, he spots Li Qing Xue waving excitedly at him.
With a grin, he walks over: “What a coincidence, you’re in this class too.”
“Hmm hmm, where’s your seat?” Li Qing Xue asked casually, completely oblivious to the wide-eyed Wang Rui sitting right beside her.
Wang Rui first shot a glance at Long Aotian, then quickly looked away, her gaze flicking to the beaming Li Qing Xue, sweating slightly for her.
“Over there.” Long Aotian points to the last row by the window.
“Seems like you’re destined to sit at that spot,” Li Qing Xue joked, giggling. It was true—seems like destiny or just bad luck, but Long Aotian was also sitting there in Class 7.
He shrugged: “Who can say?”
“By the way, did you have breakfast?” Li Qing Xue asked, rummaging through her backpack to produce a sandwich and a carton of milk. “Here, this is for you.”
The last time Long Aotian had spoken to her, he didn’t take her milk—today she just made up for it. Li Qing Xue thought happily.
“Thanks, I already ate in the cafeteria,” he replied.
Watching the two chat and laugh like old friends, Wang Rui’s brain kept spinning in disbelief.
She couldn’t grasp how Li Qing Xue knew Long Aotian.
They’d been at school together, she and Li Qing Xue, going to the bathroom, lunch, everything side by side. Never once seeing any connection between Li Qing Xue and Long Aotian. Yet, right before her eyes, it looked like they were best buddies!
Luckily, today was the month-end mock exam, so they didn’t chat long before Long Aotian headed to the last row.
As Long Aotian left, Wang Rui leaned slightly closer to Li Qing Xue and whispered, “Xue, is that Long Aotian? How do you know him?”
“Is he bothering you?”
Li Qing Xue chuckled at her and said, “Actually, he’s pretty nice.”
“Really?”
Wang Rui instinctively shook her head. Her roommate always said Long Aotian was a troublemaker. A troublemaker, yes! Without skills or guts, how could he become the bossy guy everyone’s afraid of?
And her roommate said he once punched someone so hard that bloodied their head. Seriously, good guys don’t work that way, right? If he was really a good person, why would her roommate judge him so harshly? She even advised everyone in the dorm to avoid him at all costs—look away when you see him, quick get out.
“Xue, maybe you’d better not get too close to him,” Wang Rui sincerely warned.
If one says Long Aotian is a scoundrel, maybe they just have beef with him.
But if ten people all say he’s no good? Well, then he probably isn’t exactly Mr. Nice Guy.
So Wang Rui chose to believe the latter.
Li Qing Xue didn’t know how to explain to Wang Rui. She glanced back at Long Aotian—a boy who enjoyed watching scenery, listening to flowing water, feeling the breeze; a gent who spoke gently and kindly.
He was someone who could counsel her, a confidant like a tree hollow, a person she could pour her heart out to.
At least, in Li Qing Xue’s eyes, he… wasn’t a bad person.
In fact, she was pretty happy to be friends with someone like him.
But seeing Wang Rui so nervous, so caring, Li Qing Xue smiled softly to comfort her: “Alright, alright, don’t worry. I know which friends are worth making and which aren’t.”
Meanwhile, the Class 6 homeroom teacher entered with a test paper roll.
As the teacher stepped in, the room fell silent instantly.
The bell for the start of the test rang.
The teacher distributed the rolled test papers to the front row students, who passed them back one by one.
The second bell rang.
The whole class was so quiet, only the faint scratching of pens on papers breaking the silence.
Since it was a mock high school entrance exam, everyone was very focused.
Two lessons passed.
The bell rang again. Collecting the papers, students took a break, waiting for the next exam.
“Xue, want to go to the restroom together?” Wang Rui stretched lazily.
“No thanks, you go ahead,” Li Qing Xue tidied her desk and smiled.
“Okay then.”
After Wang Rui left, Li Qing Xue turned to look at the last row where Long Aotian sat.
She hesitated for a moment, then decided to go over herself: “Long Brother, how do you feel now?”
“Pretty okay,” Long Aotian scratched his head, saying that the arts and humanities weren’t too stressful for him.
“And you?”
Li Qing Xue’s shining eyes, lively as a wary little deer, flickered with energy: “Same, kinda okay.”
Her youthful vitality radiated, like an unexplored world where everything was good. Her charm stood apart from Hu Yuying.
A girl like her would easily become the bright white moon in a young boy’s naive heart.
“By the way, is your friend doing okay now?” Long Aotian casually asked.
He hadn’t realized before that this lively girl was actually the male protagonist’s white moonlight.
He also wondered whether what he said might affect the overall plot.
Hu Yuying couldn’t quite figure it out—Long Aotian considered himself no saint, but he couldn’t stand to see a girl bullied.
Maybe their worlds were different. In his original universe, he’d seen school bullying clips online.

Just seeing this made Long Aotian feel uneasy—more so now that it was happening around him.
And he didn’t think that the female lead had to be bullied for the story to develop with the male lead.
From his novel-watching experience, male and female leads are like opposite poles of a magnet—once they meet, attraction is inevitable. That’s the law of the story.
“Ugh, forget him,” Long Aotian said, not wanting to push the topic further. It’s better to keep less about this in future talks. Things are complicated enough.
Just treat Li Qing Xue as a friend—soon enough, he’d be off to the ends of the earth or whatever. Maybe they’d never meet again.
“Brother Long,” a voice called out.
Long Aotian turned to the classroom’s back door, a smile creeping up.
Li Qing Xue heard the voice, turned, and looked towards the back.
Hu Yuying’s expression froze upon seeing Li Qing Xue.
Long Aotian stood up and headed to the corridor outside.
For some reason, Hu Yuying suddenly felt a twinge of sadness—an inexplicable emotion sweeping in.
When Long Aotian and Li Qing Xue approached, Hu Yuying instinctively took a step back.
This wave of emotion, coming without reason, was intense.
Even when she was bullied before, she’d never felt anything like it…
