Chapter 63: A Moment of Spoiling, A Moment of Emptiness
No after-school homework — just pure leisure time.
After the homeroom teacher announced the grade rankings, they graciously left the remaining time for the students to enjoy.
As the school bell rang, Hu Yu Ying promptly started tidying up Long Ao Tian’s desk.
Unbeknownst to her, she was already applying Long Ao Tian’s words: “Don’t slack off after class or there’s a problem!”
Quickly, she cleared and organized Long Ao Tian’s desk like a professional.
Exiting the campus, Long Ao Tian suddenly stopped in his tracks, turning around to look at Hu Yu Ying following behind him.
Seeing Long Ao Tian halt, Hu Yu Ying also stopped: “Big Brother Long, what’s up?”
Long Ao Tian didn’t speak. He just looked at Hu Yu Ying with an intense focus.
Feeling the gaze fixed upon her, Hu Yu Ying’s heart skipped a beat, and her face started to flush red.
In that brief moment, Long Ao Tian’s eyes held a fleeting sense of indulgence—an expression that couldn’t quite be hidden.
Her heart pounded uncontrollably, blushing and racing in a oddly new way. It was as if a little deer was softly leaping inside her chest.
“Dummy,” Long Ao Tian said softly, patting Hu Yu Ying’s head gently, then took a deep breath and chuckled quietly: “Today, Bro Long has some things to do. You head home on your own.”
Hu Yu Ying looked at Long Ao Tian, subconsciously wanting to ask what was going on.
But somehow, that didn’t feel right.
After all, even Long Ao Tian has his own things.
So, obediently, she nodded: “Got it, Big Brother Long.”
“Let’s take that way — closer to home,” he pointed.
“Okay.”
Watching Hu Yu Ying’s back as she walked away, Long Ao Tian opened his mouth like he still wanted to say something. But seeing her silhouette, he just helplessly scratched his head and turned to walk in another direction.
On the street, Hu Yu Ying felt a sudden void inside her heart.
She instinctively turned back to look.
As Long Ao Tian’s figure disappeared into the crowd, she withdrew her gaze.
Maybe it was that girl’s keen sixth sense — or maybe her instincts were just that strong. Anyway, Hu Yu Ying gazed at Long Ao Tian’s back fading amidst the throng, feeling a touch of loneliness.
She lowered her eyes and headed toward home.
Before realizing Long Ao Tian was her big bro, she had walked this path countless times. But this time was different — her mood about going home felt… peculiar.
Passing by the freight platform on the train track, Hu Yu Ying didn’t rush home. Instead, she sat down on the platform, picked up a nearby stone, and threw it toward the railway.
Her mind was flooded with images of Long Ao Tian raising his hand to tap her little head, his eyes soft with adoration.
With each stone tossed, her heavy mood seemed to lighten, as if she was tossing her worries away with those stones.
……
Ye Liang Chen emerged from the bathroom, wearing a crisp white shirt and black jeans — suddenly more handsome than before.
Even so, he still couldn’t hide his excitement, constantly adjusting his hairstyle in the mirror.
“Chen Ge, what’s with your flair today?” Gao Quan stared at Ye Liang Chen fussing with his hair, puzzled.
He didn’t understand why Ye Liang Chen wouldn’t just go home after school but instead sneaked into the bathroom to change and look at himself in the mirror.
“Stop nagging,” Ye Liang Chen scoffed without looking up. “Hey, how do I look today? Cool or not?”
He looked at himself in the mirror, not bothering to lift his head.
“Cool! But why the middle part? Looks kinda weird,” Gao Quan said, grimacing.
Seeing Ye Liang Chen dampen his hair and slick it into a middle part, Gao Quan thought he looked like those anti-Japanese TV drama characters…
Ye Liang Chen chuckled softly: “You know nothing. This hairstyle will be trending in three or five years. When that happens, many stars will be sporting it too. That’s called fashion for me!”
“Fashion, huh? That’s【fa shen】 (because of ‘fash-ion’),” Ye Liang Chen added with a grin.
“Too bad I don’t have a blow dryer. If I did, I’d puff up my hair even more, and then you’d see how【fa shen】 I really am!”
Today was a good mood day for Ye Liang Chen, so he nervously spilled a little extra about his style plans.
But judging by Gao Quan’s puzzled face, he still hadn’t quite caught on.
But who cares? As long as he’s protecting him, that’s enough.
Ye Liang Chen took a deep breath: “Alright, you head home first. I’ve got some things to take care of today.”
“What is it?” Gao Quan couldn’t help but ask.
“None of your business for now — I’ll give you a surprise. Just wait,” Ye Liang Chen said with a wink, glancing at the clock before heading out.
He had spent a bit too much time fussing with his hair, but at least he managed to catch the train in time.
“Go home first and wait for your surprise,” he told Gao Quan, then sprinted downstairs.
Gao Quan watched Ye Liang Chen’s figure—especially the bouncing middle part of his hair while running—like some overly well-fed chicken from the village.
He shook his head quickly and headed downstairs as well.
But Ye Liang Chen was fast—by the time Gao Quan saw him leave the school gates, Ye Liang Chen was already heading in the opposite direction back home.
He jogged along the road, feeling the breeze ruffle his hair from running, a soft smile spreading on his face.
He hadn’t forgotten today — he had waited far too long for this day.
His treasure girl, thank you for enduring all this. It’s okay — finally, our destinies will meet, intersect, and truly get to know each other.

Though Long Ao Tian threatened you this time, it’s okay. You’ve always been my treasure girl.
Carrying his excitement inside, Ye Liang Chen’s steps grew faster and faster.
Breathing raggedly, he looked around, took a deep breath to steady himself after the run, eager to show his best side.
Exhaling, he stepped forward.
“Who else loves a hurt heart? No one feels the pain of nobody caring!”
This line wasn’t in the dream — it just burst out from his emotions at the moment.
Because it perfectly expressed his current mood.
He had his hands in his pockets, a smile on his lips, walking slowly forward.
The place their fate crossed in another life.
This time, he was going to hold on tight!
Reaching the platform, Ye Liang Chen pretended not to look left but instead tilted his face up at a forty-five-degree angle, spreading his arms to embrace the sky.
This was all about upping his cool factor — trying to attract his treasure girl’s attention!
Thinking this, a gentle smile curved his lips, then slowly he retracted his arms, doing a pretend embrace of himself.
He opened his eyes, feigning surprise, and looked to the left: “Wow, fancy meeting you here…”
Before he finished, his surprise turned real.
He hurriedly looked to the right: “No one?”
“Where is everyone?”
This was the moment he couldn’t hold his composure anymore. He quickly scanned the surroundings. Around the train tracks, not a single shadow—or person—in sight.
The place was utterly empty, visible at a glance…
