### Chapter One: Murderer? Starting Today, You Must Court the Male Protagonist
“Number 114, d*ath row inmate. Before participating in this sc*m Game, you killed twelve women and set fire to a church, which led to the d*ath of twenty-three people.”
“After entering this game, in the past nine levels, you brutally killed one hundred fourteen more people, including your sister, Number 724.”
A cold mechanical voice echoed in front of the abandoned church at midnight. In the darkness, a man known as Number 114 hung in the air, suspended by two tentacles. Before he could even let out a roar, the body of a woman, sliced open and emptied of its insides, suddenly appeared in front and behind him, smashing against him like a wet rag.
Standing two meters tall with a muscular build, Number 114 looked like a giant compared to the 1.6-meter-tall woman’s body that resembled a doll. The tentacles went to work—crushing his bones and trimming off excess muscle, while the woman’s body pressed against his flesh, sizzling and popping as it cooked like a steak on a flaming grill, extruding the surplus bl**d and meat.
Tentacles curled around the woman’s delicate face, a thin layer with visibly intricate features.
Smushed against the man’s face, her skin rapidly grew and replaced his original features.
The infamous killer was transformed into a sweet, delicate woman, and everyone in the square looked up in stunned silence.
To participate in this sc*m Game, you need to be either a madman, a murderer, or someone with serious mental issues. Witnessing this scene, they could only think of madness and a sprinkle of confusion.
Sitting on the edge of the square in a small building, Bai Yu didn’t bother to look up at the unsympathetic man. This game was at its final level, and she needed to figure out how to beat this seemingly impossible game.
The last level was absurd but somehow felt entirely normal. This group of crazies needed to enter a comic book—a school romance comic, to be precise.
And why turn Number 114 into a woman? The reason was simple: the comic lacked a female protagonist.
To be exact, it wasn’t just Number 114 that needed transformation; everyone still alive had to undergo “modifications.” As for the mission objective, it was laughably simple—compared to the previous nine levels, it would feel like playing house.
They had to use their newly modified identities to woo their corresponding characters in the comic. The requirement was to make the other party genuinely fall in love with you, without actively harming the characters or using coercion to force compliance.
On the surface, the task seemed easy enough and perfectly fit the theme of a school romance comic. However, there was a slight hitch— the participants were a bunch of lunatics and murderers, which made for a rather awkward match in the dating realm.
Getting them to k*ll and burn stuff? No problem! But having them engage in romantic pursuits? That would be pushing it a bit far.
“The final level can’t be that straightforward. Based on past experiences with the sc*m Game, the problem must lie within this comic. Current intelligence only mentions it’s a romance genre, but it doesn’t say there can’t be other themes mixed in.”
Bai Yu pondered, holding a black phone in her hand, her thumb gently stroking the screen, which displayed a photo—a cute little girl in a white dress holding a rabbit plush toy.
Just one last level, and she could find her!
Suddenly, the square buzzed with noise as other players underwent transformations. Except for Bai Yu, no one was spared.
Outside the church, they could see a public bulletin board filled with names, like twisted, bloody lines tracing the identities of the unfortunate souls.
The board listed survivors and rankings, with names reflecting how many participants they’d killed in the previous nine levels while still alive. The suffix numbers represented lives lost, and these bloody names were fading rapidly, dimming to signify that they’d completed their “modifications.”
The darkness spread to the second name on the list, revealing only a “Zhou.” The following two characters seemed intentionally altered, but that wasn’t the main focus—the key lay in the suffix carved with the ominously dark red numbers.
“999”
Once Zhou disappeared, Bai Yu stood up and walked to the dark doorway of the church.
The bulletin board beside her only showed her name: [1. Bai Yu (Doctor): 1124]
“Number 2004, d*ath row inmate. You killed eight people before joining this game. However, considering your reasons for killing, you aren’t a complete sc*m.”
“But in the past nine games, you’ve killed 1124 people. Your madness has garnered admiration—even from the crazies. They think you’re healing the ‘patients’ you’ve slaughtered and refer to you as ‘Doctor.’”
The mechanical voice droned in her ears. Bai Yu remained silent, her hand resting on the hilt of a kn*fe hidden beneath her black leather coat.
“You don’t need to undergo modifications as a reward. But for fairness, there will be minor changes.”
The church doors slowly swung open, revealing a crimson world beyond.
“The answers you seek lie in the world behind that door. Are you ready?”
Bai Yu frowned, took a step forward, and entered the church. Almost instantly, she felt her body being disassembled by a strange force; she forced her eyes open but only saw a bl**d-red world. Worse yet, her body disintegrated completely and then reassembled in no time.
Her form morphed into countless thin threads of bl**d, as if she were transforming—like a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis, but also like knitting herself a new “cocoon.”
What she couldn’t see was her long kn*fe and black phone floating beside her.
The black phone still displayed the yellowing photo of the adorable girl who could drain bl**d from your veins, AND it showed a stream of comments.
“Whoa, the top killer got turned into a chick!”
“Can’t wait, can’t wait, can’t wait!”
“Dude, having a murderer who’s taken out a thousand people go dating? Pray for that lucky, unknown comic character for a moment!”
“Wow, the little sister is so cute! I hereby declare that the kn*fe Demon is now my brother-in-law!”
“Dude above, you’re doomed! By the time the cops find you, you’ll probably be minced meat!”
“I just want to know if that rabbit plush can be bought in the same style.”
“Rumor has it this time, the world isn’t just a school romance; there are elements of supernatural horror! Wild times ahead! Better bring an extra pair of pants!”
As the crimson world closed in, Bai Yu’s mind gradually cleared.
