Chapter One Hundred Thirty: Did the Doctor Come to Exchange Feelings?
How to win over the Male Protagonist was something Sun Hanyue didn’t quite grasp yet, still fumbling around in the dark. After all, she’d never done anything like this before! But one thing she was certain of: to conquer the Male Protagonist, he had to forget his feelings for his current crush, the doctor.
To be honest, when she learned from a certain friend that the Male Protagonist, Lu Liangting, wasn’t being seduced by the Female Protagonist but was instead captivated by that old madman doctor, she nearly turned her ears inside out in disbelief.
This kid had some serious guts!
But even if it was the doctor, it was the same principle: find a way to make Lu Liangting forget about her!
Xia Qingrong’s recent scheme had given her a glimmer of hope. By casually mentioning Zhao Mingyue, she triggered Xia Qingrong to spring into action. Perfect, let’s turn this to our advantage!
Once Xia Qingrong’s group showed up, they would definitely be eliminated by the doctor. Lu Liangting just had to conveniently witness the scene—there’s no way this justice-fueled Male Protagonist would be able to hold back when he saw something like that.
He would surely start suspecting things, and then he’d cut off all ties with the doctor!
At that moment, he would experience an emotional void; that’s normal psychology! After all, don’t women always get reckless after a breakup?
And hey, that’s when she could swoop in while Lu Liangting was “heartbroken”!
With that thought, Sun Hanyue’s smile widened, and she grabbed Lu Liangting’s hand. “You deal with ghosts all the time; you must know they’re hard to communicate with! Their obsessions run deep, leading to their madness.”
“On the surface, they might seem normal, or even more normal than regular people.”
“But it’s all a facade! They’re just beasts in human skin. You understand what that means, right?”
“So, trust me, this might not be such a bad thing for you!”
Lu Liangting was having none of this. Gritting his teeth, he swung a fist at her. “Shut up!”
Sun Hanyue dodged easily, stepping back a half-step. “Looks like the Young Master hasn’t calmed down yet.”
“How does she know about Mingyue? Who told her? Who exactly are you?” Lu Liangting felt as though a boulder was pressing down on his chest, making it hard to breathe. Years of training had indeed made his heart tough.
“I told you already! I’m Rose, the new bodyguard for the madam. If the lady isn’t suspicious, why would I be anyone else?”
“You’re one of them.” Lu Liangting stepped back, clenching his fists. “If you are, then you must know that Mingyue is innocent. Don’t lay a finger on her!”
“Hahahaha, what’s the Young Master talking about?”
“Don’t play dumb with me; you know everything!”
“Everything? If you’re talking about Zhao Mingyue being hunted, then I have nothing to say. I’ll just say it has nothing to do with me.” Sun Hanyue shrugged. “If I were to get involved, I wouldn’t use such lowly tactics, you know?”
“Besides, the Young Master doesn’t have any real evidence, does he? It’s normal for a bunch of gangsters to be fixated on Zhao Mingyue’s beauty.”
Just then, an unfamiliar voice piped up from behind, “Young Master, what are you doing here? Who is she?”
Zhizi stepped in, clad in her maid outfit and black stockings, her polished look accompanied by a cold, proud expression—especially with those black-rimmed glasses perched on her nose.
“Zhizi.” For some reason, seeing Zhizi calmed Lu Liangting down a bit. He knew she was part of the group, but compared to the others, Zhizi was incredibly kind and caring.
“Should I call you ‘senpai’? I’m Rose, just a new bodyguard around here.”
Sun Hanyue and Zhizi’s gazes collided instantly, neither willing to budge. Their instincts were sharp; they both recognized each other as “kindred spirits.”
“Since you’re a bodyguard, please have a bit of professional ethics and self-awareness. You’re here to keep watch, not to disturb the Young Master, understood? Do your job well. If you can’t speak properly, just take a cue from Mianmian: don’t call the Young Master’s name, just wag your tail when you see him.”
Zhizi adjusted her glasses, her tone completely devoid of emotion. “Oh, right, Mianmian is a purebred Samoyed the lady keeps… you know, a dog.”
Sun Hanyue’s expression didn’t change, but her smile vanished. “I’m a bodyguard, the madam’s personal bodyguard. And if you keep talking to me like that, I’ll cut you down.”
“There’s really not much of a difference, actually. In my view, being a personal bodyguard is even less than being a security guard. You say you’re a personal bodyguard for the madam, yet the madam has been out of your sight for at least five minutes! If someone attacked during that time, you wouldn’t even see the lady one last time.”
Zhizi scoffed. “What, do you offer to be a bodyguard for ashes?”
“That wouldn’t be called a bodyguard; that would be called guarding a grave.”
“You!” Sun Hanyue’s expression shifted from blank to murderous.
“I? I’m Zhizi, the Young Master’s maid. Also, I have my doubts about your identity. Show me your ID and contract. If you don’t have either… then just scram.”
In that instant, a glint of cold flashed, and Sun Hanyue lunged, targeting Zhizi’s heart but deliberately avoiding her throat, aiming straight for the left side of Zhizi’s chest.
Lu Liangting saw this unfold but his brain didn’t quite register in time to react; he couldn’t even warn Zhizi that if the blade had come for him, he’d be done for.
Clink!
Zhizi effortlessly pinched the blade between two fingers, the tip barely a few inches from her chest.
With a snap, she broke off a segment of the blade, sending it flying directly toward Sun Hanyue’s face. Sun Hanyue swiftly turned her head, biting down on the flying tip.
In an instant, both women launched a flurry of punches, exchanging blows, with Zhizi retreating one step while Sun Hanyue merely took half a step back.
“Hahahaha, I thought you were tough, but this is all you’ve got!” Sun Hanyue giggled, but then her laughter faltered as she looked down at her arm, which was gushing bl**d.
“An ambush?”
Zhizi flicked her sleeve, revealing a glinting dagger, its blade glistening with fresh bl**d.
“Get lost!”
bl**d flowed from the wound as Sun Hanyue shook her hand, ignoring Zhizi’s remark. Her smile faded completely, her gaze now menacing, veins bulging at her neck.
“I’ll k*ll you. I definitely will!”
Unraveling the bindings from her arms, she revealed arms covered in intricate symbols. Clenching her fists, her formerly slender arms bulged with muscles, the etched symbols seemingly twisting to life.
“You’re sure you want to make a move here?” Zhizi warned.
“Doesn’t matter; killing you won’t change anything!” Sun Hanyue threw a punch, her speed having more than doubled, forcing Zhizi to narrow her eyes and quickly retreat, not daring to take the hit directly.
Sun Hanyue moved like lightning, appearing right in front of Zhizi in the blink of an eye.
With only offense and no defense, every punch unleashed all her pent-up power. The speed was terrifying, and so was the strength.
Zhizi managed to deflect one punch by leaning back to absorb the force, but her fingers still felt a slight impact.
A punch aimed at her face, another at her stomach—Zhizi thought she had read Sun Hanyue’s rhythm perfectly, but just then, Sun Hanyue’s fist suddenly changed trajectory, hitting her squarely in the chest. As Zhizi’s body flew backward, Sun Hanyue took to the air, delivering a swift kick to Zhizi’s cheek.
Zhizi crashed against the wall, her glasses shattering.
“Miss Maid, I’m giving you a chance: don’t let me see you again, or I’ll gut you and hang you from a streetlight!” Sun Hanyue laughed wildly, no longer looking like a young girl; no girl would wear such a terrifying smile.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. Do you really think you’ve won?”
Zhizi stood tall, brushing off her skirt, then habitually adjusting her glasses.
With a flourish, she flipped a pair of exquisite scissors, and Sun Hanyue saw a few droplets of bl**d flying off.
Realizing something was wrong, she hurriedly backed away, noticing that her left foot was starting to feel a bit unresponsive.
Glancing down, she discovered bl**d trickling from the position of her Achilles tendon, but strangely, she felt no pain at all. Even when she didn’t move that foot, there was absolutely no odd sensation.
Not feeling pain could be due to poison or drugs, but for someone like her, an expert in close combat, not feeling anything? That meant the opponent’s skills were off the charts.
“Hahaha! Interesting! I think I know who you are now—the lucky girl with the scalpel. So you’re still alive! Where’s your brother? I remember he had a grudge against the doctor. You two siblings really managed to avoid being chopped up by him.”
Sun Hanyue stomped down hard with her left foot, causing bl**d to burst forth, washing away the effects of the toxins, and she began feeling the pain.
Taking advantage of her injury, Zhizi shifted to offense; Sun Hanyue was forced to play defense. But alas, there was a vast gap in their capabilities, and Sun Hanyue was beginning to struggle.
Lu Liangting stood by, uncertain of what he could do. His own abilities were considerable, surpassing the norm, even more so than a professional boxer. But in a fight between these two? He had no confidence in intervening without making matters worse.
If it were nighttime, he might have considered unleashing some ghosts to help out.
“Young Master, don’t worry! I’ve got this! Just trust me!” Zhizi shot a glance at Lu Liangting, seemingly reading his thoughts.
Sun Hanyue didn’t dare get distracted and cursed internally.
She needed to scrape off the talismans on her arms and stick them on her Achilles tendon to heal her injury.
Her power lay primarily in her fists, but that didn’t mean her legs were any less important; in fact, they were just as crucial.
Knowing Zhizi saw through her plans, Sun Hanyue decided to abandon the idea of healing and pressed on with her attack.
However, she had to be more cautious; that scissor cut made her realize something.
Everyone had new identities now; aside from those three monsters, nobody else should take the ranking seriously. They were all starting from the same point. Even a nurse ranked outside the top thirty could pose a threat to her life at sixth place.
Those rankings were a thing of the past; they were relevant only as a reference.
The two were truly fighting for real. Zhizi didn’t step back even an inch. Her reason for targeting Sun Hanyue was simple: this fool was threatening her relationship with Lu Liangting and looking down on them, which was intolerable.
When experts exchange blows, the time often flies quickly. Three minutes later, Sun Hanyue landed a punch on Zhizi, and when she saw Zhizi’s sister, Rose, rushing over, she swiftly used her kn*fe to scrape off a piece of runic flesh, slapping it on her wounded Achilles tendon.
“I’ll remember you, and you two better not stick together forever if you’ve got any guts!”
Realizing that Rose was likely the older sister of Zhizi’s previous identity, Sun Hanyue felt a twinge of fear and gave the pair a fierce glare before taking off.
Compared to a nurse, this older sister was notoriously crafty.
“Zhizi, are you hurt?” Rose didn’t bother with Sun Hanyue but focused back on Zhizi instead.
“I’m fine, sis! Don’t let that d*mn lunatic get away!” Zhizi was genuinely furious—this crazy girl targeted her chest specifically! Insufferable!
“Don’t rush; we can’t catch her now anyway. Even if we did, we might not be able to keep her. We’ll come up with a long-term plan.” Rose examined Zhizi’s injuries before probing for the details.
Lu Liangting briefly explained how Summer Qingrong had sent people to go after Zhao Mingyue.
Upon hearing that Summer Qingrong was doing this, even Rose, who had seen it all, was stunned, her heart shaken.
Is this madness? Sending those people to k*ll Zhao Mingyue?
And that last chick dared to insult the doctor without fear of repercussions?
“Liangting,” Rose spoke softly.
“Rose, what is it?”
“Don’t you have Zhao Mingyue’s contact info? Give it to me.”
“Huh?”
“Just a small matter.”
Rose pulled out her phone, adding Zhao Mingyue’s contact through Lu Liangting’s device. After it went through, she quickly typed out a message and sent it, glancing one last time at the direction Sun Hanyue had fled.
Zhizi leaned in, whispering, “Sis, what are you doing?”
“Nothing, just giving the doctor a quick heads-up. After all, the debt has a head, and the grievance has a master. This girl is, at least in part, the mastermind. If the doctor has time, they could chat and exchange feelings…”
“Perfect timing. I just happened to figure out her location.”
Zhizi’s eyes widened in surprise. “Sis!”
“Don’t be shocked; I’m just letting the involved parties know a bit of the truth.”
“Alright, let’s go back and get some medicine. Look at you; you’re not making it easy for me.”
With that, Rose nodded to Lu Liangting and led Zhizi away.
As they left, Zhizi turned back to call out, “Young Master, don’t worry! With me around, no one can hurt you! Please trust me!”
“Zhizi, let me take you to the hospital.”
“No need! Just a small injury, thank you for your concern, Young Master. But I hope you can help me with the medicine.”
Lu Liangting wanted to say more, but Zhizi instantly shot him down.
