Chapter 145: Dragon Lady’s Love, Evil God’s Shock
The Burning Heart Goddess was in a real panic now. Throughout her long existence, she had entered countless people’s memories but had never encountered a situation quite like this—a mere memory that could threaten her very consciousness.
It was like watching a movie only to have the characters jump out and punch her in the face.
The world shook violently, the walls quaked, and the eyes on the walls seemed to roll up to the ceiling, where a stunningly beautiful woman’s face slowly emerged.
The moment the Burning Heart Goddess saw that face, she gulped and quickly severed her connection to the memory. Even though she would take some backlash for doing so, she needed to wait until that face opened its eyes. She knew that if she delayed, it wouldn’t just be a little backlash—her very essence would be snuffed out.
As darkness engulfed her vision, the Burning Heart Goddess saw the woman’s eyes snap open, but instead of looking at her, they were fixed on the little girl below.
“Child, come to me. Mommy will protect you…”
The voice was unexpectedly gentle, but the problem was that the child she called out to had morphed into this terrifyingly pitiful form.
Having exited the memory, the Burning Heart Goddess felt her consciousness wane significantly—she had faced some backlash.
Yet, she still chose not to leave.
What had just happened was definitely the ghost’s intention, and it was also due to the truly terrifying nature of the memory.
Now it made sense why this ghost, fully aware of the risks, would rather fall into a deep slumber, waiting for her to invade its heart and spy on its memories. The goal was clear—to sap her limited strength.
The Burning Heart Goddess didn’t dwell on this but instead wondered what sort of abominable experiences this ghost had gone through to have such horrific memories. Who was that god? Why had she never felt the presence of the other?
Taking a glance at the despair-laden memory, the Burning Heart Goddess quickly decided against using it to weave a dream for Bai Yu.
She was afraid that if the dream attracted attention, both she and the ghost would be in deep trouble.
Yet, she wasn’t ready to give up. This opportunity was too precious—if she didn’t k*ll this ghost now, it would be a time bomb waiting to go off.
She was powerful, but Zhao Mingyue wasn’t.
Zhao Mingyue was her host, and if this ghost killed her, it would be game over.
It was a piece of cake for the ghost to take Zhao Mingyue out.
Meanwhile, in Zhao Mingyue’s room, Bai Yu lay on the bed, her eyelids fluttering.
The moment the Evil God invaded her memories, her consciousness snapped back to attention.
“Is this guy planning to stay in there, or what? That power of hers must be down by at least two-thirds.”
“Looks like tonight she’s definitely out to k*ll me.”
Bai Yu had no idea what the Evil God was thinking. After being beaten down by her use of the Moon Shadow God’s power, it still stubbornly hung around, determined to confront her in her memories.
As for memories related to the Moon Shadow God, that ghost wouldn’t dare visit, fearing it would be squished by a single finger.
She had to admit it was strange, the Evil God seemed much weaker than she had imagined.
After all, Zhao Mingyue was the female lead—her Evil God was supposed to be the final boss, or at least close to that level. But from what it looked like, that wasn’t the case.
Bai Yu didn’t underestimate the ghost; she was merely reflecting.
Comparing everything, the Evil God did seem pathetically weak next to the Moon Shadow God.
While Bai Yu was lost in thought, the Evil God chose another memory filled with significant emotional turmoil.
In this emotional haze, she felt no fear—only irritation and impatience.
To put it bluntly, the Bai Yu in that memory was livid.
Ordinarily, the Burning Heart Goddess wouldn’t pick such an emotional memory, but since almost all of Bai Yu’s memories post-boarding school were rather dull, this was the most intense negative emotion she could grasp.
Also, this memory likely wouldn’t involve any gods, right?
Once the Burning Heart Goddess selected the memory segment, Bai Yu felt a particular memory inexplicably resurface in her mind, compelling her to revisit it.
As memories flooded back, Bai Yu’s eyelids fluttered again.
“Dragon Lady!?”
If she wasn’t mistaken, this was the third time the Dragon Lady had interrupted her mission, right? She remembered being furious, nearly ready to chop the Dragon Lady in half with her kn*fe—though she certainly tried, it didn’t work!
The Evil God parted the mists, and sure enough, this memory was far more hazy than the boarding school fiasco, indicating it was less significant but still quite vivid.
It seemed to take place on a bustling street, filled with noise and chatter from people everywhere.
Bai Yu’s vision was still blurry when she heard a somewhat hoarse, metallic-tinged female voice:
“Hahaha! Finally found you, Doctor!”
“This time, just behave and submit to me!”
“Don’t worry, I’ll twist Nightmare’s brain off for your dowry!”
“What’s with that look? Look at me, hey!”
Boom!
A city bus flew overhead, smashing into a small building.
Cars along the street were sent flying like toys, crashing into buildings with deafening alarm sounds, while countless residents dispersed in panic, screaming as ominous figures stood in shadows or on rooftops. Nobody dared to stand in the way of this looming monstrosity.
If she wasn’t mistaken, that thing seemed to be a dragon!?
It was pitch black, glimmering with dark purple energy. Its scales looked like they were forged from metal but were jagged and twisted, giving off a fierce and terrifying appearance.
Despite its twenty-meter frame, it didn’t come across as bulky; instead, it was a beautiful showcase of power and wildness. The chaotic movement of its body released faint clouds of reddish corrosive mist between the spiked scales. Its imposing dragon wings could block out the sun.
The bright red veins of bl**d on its abdomen pulsed like flowing magma, accompanied by jagged teeth and a pair of slightly curved dragon horns atop its head. The Burning Heart Goddess was momentarily stunned, unable to grasp what was happening.
That metallic-tinged female voice came from the mouth of this beast, seemingly professing love to someone.
“Don’t block the way! If it gets away, I swear I’ll tear you all apart.”
Boom!
A pitiful little car was sent soaring.
“Don’t you dare run! Am I that scary, Bai Yu?!”
“Tell me what kind of woman you like, and I’ll k*ll them all. That way, you’ll have no choice but to like me!”
“Sky Fox said you prefer cute ones—am I not cute enough?!”
With a single claw, she crushed a man who had been too slow to escape into instant mush, while declaring this, the Dragon Lady slammed a dragon wing down, obliterating a four-story building into dust, sending debris flying everywhere.
“Bai Yu, come back here!”
“How could a Dragon Lady not be good enough for you?!”
“Can we stay together forever?”
Because it was Bai Yu’s memory, and this space was exceptionally vast, the Goddess’s view kept shifting, and the surrounding scenes remained mostly blurry. Yet, that unstoppable monster radiated an aura of indomitable force, distinct and real, even the sparks spilling from its mouth were startlingly vivid.
Wait a second, Bai Yu?
The Goddess remembered that this ghost’s name was Bai Yu, right?
So this monster was confessing to her?
Was this creature real, or just a figment of Bai Yu’s imagination?
No, hold on. This was her memory. Anything born of imagination wouldn’t feel that real.
But if you’re telling me this actually happened, it must seem the least believable of all.
Fire erupted, turning the entire street into an inferno, and suddenly a blade of light shot upwards. The monster howled, its throat cut open with an exceptionally horrific wound—severing nearly a quarter of its neck.
With a swift strike, countless sharp blades erupted from its claw, a tornado of destruction slicing the dragon paw and leaving deep gouges visible to the bone.
“Does this make you a bit happier, Yu?”
Red mist billowed from its wound, and the wounds began to heal at an observable pace. In under half a minute, the dragon lady’s injuries fully healed, her form shrinking to that of a human girl adorned with scales.
She looked quite young, around fifteen or sixteen, with a charming appearance and an utterly unremarkable chest.
The Goddess couldn’t see Bai Yu, but she knew the “Dragon Lady” was speaking to her.
Upon witnessing this, the Goddess willingly ceased her peeping.
Clearly, this memory couldn’t serve as a dream to k*ll Bai Yu.
Once she pulled back, the Goddess felt a bit dazed. She had genuinely never encountered such a situation; it was absurd. She didn’t know if these memories were real or not. Years of experience told her they couldn’t be more genuine, yet the exaggerated contents hinted that this Bai Yu was likely a lunatic.
She was afraid to dive into negative emotional memories, terrified of losing herself, and couldn’t use memories with other emotional fluctuations as sources for dreams. After all, she couldn’t transform into that monster and start rampaging through the city.
After much consideration, the Goddess finally began withdrawing her curse.
There was no point in going through all that effort—it would be a case of “robbing a chicken only to lose the rice.” Her regained strength would just slip away.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to take the chance to k*ll Bai Yu; it was that she genuinely couldn’t.
She couldn’t comprehend how a ghost could experience all this.
So how did she end up dying? Killed by a god? Slain by the Dragon Lady?
The Burning Heart Goddess just assumed Bai Yu was a lunatic, confusing fantasies with memories, and could only comfort herself with that.
Unbeknownst to her, she would soon meet that Dragon Lady.
On the bed, Bai Yu opened her eyes, still in a position clutching the Rabbit Plush Toy, lying on her back.
Just as she thought, this allowed her to strike a significant blow against the Evil God without harming Zhao Mingyue. The only cost was that she would recall some memories she had rather forget.
“I have to visit Eternal Life Village. Five months is far too long; I must find a way to contact the Dragon Lady.”
The Evil God inside Zhao Mingyue had recovered significantly and was nearly regaining consciousness. This wasn’t a good omen; Bai Yu hoped that even if she healed most of her injuries, she wouldn’t regain consciousness. That would spell trouble for Zhao Mingyue.
Having a ghost living in her body wasn’t scary; what was frightening was when that ghost woke up.
Currently, after the beating Bai Yu had just given, the Evil God wouldn’t be making any moves. She had to deal with it thoroughly before it regained its strength.
When Bai Yu returned from Eternal Life Village, she had agreed with the Dragon Lady to meet in five months, but she hadn’t explained why.
Five months wasn’t long, depending on the situation.
Now, considering the current circumstances, not to mention five months, even a month would be a stretch.
Bai Yu got up and retrieved the phone Zhao Mingyue usually used. Knowing Zhao Mingyue’s unlock code, she opened it and found the messaging app she typically used.
She tapped on Shen Shuyun’s profile and drafted a message.
“You know what happened yesterday; you promised nothing would go wrong.”
“I won’t hold it against you; just do me a favor.”
“Help me contact the Dragon Lady. I’ll be waiting for her at Sunshine Park three days from now.”
It was four-thirty in the morning, a time when normal folks were still asleep, but shortly after sending her message, a reply came from Shen Shuyun.
“Dragon Lady? Can’t you pick someone else?”
“Stop acting dumb.”
“Got it!”
This was quite a sweet deal; she might even gain some benefits from the Dragon Lady. Even if that didn’t happen, she could earn some goodwill, and when necessary, she might call on the Dragon Lady for help.
Now that they all had new identities, it didn’t mean the Dragon Lady was less important.
Only those who could maintain their standings on the leaderboard had real skills, everyone understood this truth, and thus no one was surprised by Bai Yu’s overwhelming power. Nobody thought it unfair.
Even if it was unfair, so what?
If anyone disagreed, they could take it up with the doctor.
“Doctor, I swear the previous incident had nothing to do with me.”
“Right.”
“How about this? I have some intel for you. Reliable sources say that the Sky Fox discovered task clues at an amusement park. Completing that task might earn you one of your previous artifacts.”
Shen Shuyun’s messages kept coming, “I suspect that task is your redemption task, Doctor.”
Upon reading this, Bai Yu’s eyes flickered.
The past couple of days had been consumed with Zhao Mingyue’s issues, leaving her no time to think about the redemption task.
“Anything else?”
“There is! I believe you have the chance. You’re the main character, so you might have a chance to draw from your previous artifacts after completing it.”
“Doctor, this is all real. If they find out, I’m done for.”

So, um, a little something.
Someone actually suggested I post five updates tomorrow for Crazy Friday.
Alright, then, five updates it is!
So, a vote wouldn’t be too much to ask, would it?
