Chapter 159: So Many Bai Yu Sisters, Is This Heaven?
Zhao Mingyue’s changes were something Bai Yu could feel all too clearly.
Before coming here, she had suspected that the Burning Heart Goddess would make a move on Zhao Mingyue’s body to drive her out. Once that was successful, not only would she be pushed aside, but Zhao Mingyue’s body would also be completely defenseless against the Burning Heart Goddess.
You could say there would be no resistance left; or, to put it bluntly, Zhao Mingyue would take on the form of the Burning Heart Goddess herself.
In fact, this phase of the operation was the biggest risk of all.
Her and the Dragon Lady’s situation was secondary; Zhao Mingyue was the primary focus. If anything went wrong with Zhao Mingyue, it would all be for nothing. No matter how powerful she and the Dragon Lady were, it wouldn’t matter.
That was why she kept pressuring the Burning Heart Goddess, applying the most intense pressure, even willing to harm Zhao Mingyue’s soul to keep her at bay.
It seemed her efforts were paying off.
Zhao Mingyue was doing remarkably well at holding the situation steady.
Honestly, she didn’t even need to guess which memory the Burning Heart Goddess would use to attack Zhao Mingyue’s inner defenses. It was definitely the back village of Eternal Life Village.
That place was a nightmare for anyone, Zhao Mingyue included; it came with a built-in nightmare buff.
For Bai Yu to suppress the Burning Heart Goddess’ power so quickly made her want to praise Zhao Mingyue once she came to. Thanks to her resilience, a lot of trouble had been avoided, and potential dangers minimized.
Buzz!
The bl**d thread orb continued to shrink, the final shred of the Burning Heart Goddess’ voice drowning out beneath it. Meanwhile, the Dragon Lady heard her last words:
“I’m willing to negotiate.”
“Tsk, tsk, tsk.” The Dragon Lady clicked her tongue, trying not to laugh. “This is quite the moment, and she’s still so arrogant. Well, that makes sense since she’s an Evil God, but it sure looks like she’s scared; she actually said that.”
At this point, the Dragon Lady was also getting into the spirit of things. From this moment onward, the Burning Heart Goddess’s consciousness could forcibly break free from Zhao Mingyue’s body at any moment.
“I advise you two to behave.” The Dragon Lady glanced left and right, speaking softly. “If you want to save her, do come try. Unless, of course, you’re not scared of that monster.”
The moment she said this, the curse powers probing from either side retracted.
They both sensed the Burning Heart Goddess’s power expanding, apparently trying to consume her heart.
The Dragon Lady was worried that the appearance of these two would intimidate the Burning Heart Goddess, making her too afraid to show herself. The longer it took, the greater the damage to Zhao Mingyue’s soul.
It was a race against time.
At this very moment, Zhao Mingyue still lay asleep, trapped in a dream.
Eternal Life Village had just started to be swarmed with spirits, rushing at her like they were on a mission. Her response was simple: she imagined more Bai Yus to help her out.
Zhao Mingyue stood on the sacrificial altar, looking down as hundreds of ghosts swarmed from all directions, while around her, over a dozen differently dressed Bai Yus fought bravely, ten to one. As long as they were there, no matter how strong the ghosts were, they couldn’t break through.
It felt like playing a tower defense game; monsters kept popping up outside, and all she had to do was set up a few little turrets to completely fend them off.
Looking around, there were Bai Yus in cat ears and white stockings, in black stockings and high heels, in rabbit pajamas, barefoot with ribboned heels, JK uniforms, lolita dresses, magical girl pink-and-white striped pantyhose, and even ethereal Bai Yu in flowing Hanfu.
And right in the middle, there was even a Bai Yu in a school swimsuit.
There were so many Bai Yus, each with a different vibe—some aloof, some adorable, and some tsundere.
The only thing that was the same was their overwhelming power and deadly decisiveness.
That fact couldn’t be changed; a Bai Yu that couldn’t fight was still a Bai Yu!
Among them, the nurse Bai Yu was the fiercest, taking out the most enemies. Zhao Mingyue wondered, was it because Bai Yu’s nickname was “Doctor”? Did that give her a buff? But if we’re being strict, it should be “Nurse Sister,” right?
What she wielded wasn’t scalpels or syringes, but a glimmering sharp blade.
Eight-year-old Zhao Mingyue sat in a chair, while the maid-costumed Bai Yu gently massaged her shoulders, occasionally squatting down to knead her legs. Due to her short dress, there was a fleeting glimpse of her girlhood, leaving Zhao Mingyue feeling dizzy.
Half-closing her eyes, hmm, still in Eternal Life Village.
Despite being her source of fear, why had it suddenly transformed into this surreal scene?
Was this a nightmare or a beautiful dream?
Or was it… a cherry blossom dream?
Isn’t it odd? Dreaming grand dreams in this background, should she be scared or laughing at the sky?
Regardless, Zhao Mingyue figured that after this, she wouldn’t have any more nightmares about the back village. The moment she thought of this place, her first reaction would surely not be the terrifying Evil God or the twisted believers, but…
A variety of Bai Yus!
Oh, how captivating they were!
Bai Yu, with her cute charm asking for cuddles, was the best!
No, no, she was about to nosebleed.
“That’s it? This is too weak.”
Just as she was catching every moment, Zhao Mingyue noticed the number of ghosts charging outside was decreasing gradually, until at the end, only a few souls were left.
It felt like she had drained all the nightmares dry.
“This sense of security is truly off the charts.”
“Still, from now on, I’ll handle this myself. Time to tackle this nightmare head-on!”
Zhao Mingyue stood up, waving her little hand as all the Bai Yus retreated back into her shadow. She wasn’t sure how many could fit in her shadow; she wondered if they were all huddled in there like sardines.
The bl**d thread spread out, and it wasn’t controlled by Bai Yu, but by her own will.
“Bai Yu says that from now on, I can use her bl**d threads to a certain extent. Let’s experience it in this dream first.”
The bl**d threads wrapped around her body, forming a smooth white armor. Zhao Mingyue tilted her head and shook it, “This isn’t right; I want to transform into something like an exoskeleton monster.”
The bl**d threads continued to spread, slowly forming a humanoid shell around her, standing at least two and a half meters tall, clearly having a female body structure. With that height and figure, she looked like a little giant.
Buzz, her bl**d surged, with two massive arm blades extending from her shoulders pointed toward the ground. The “exoskeleton monster” she desired was essentially a perfectly proportioned female statue carved from marble, with a smooth gray-white exterior gleaming like metal—no clothes or armor to hinder it, cold like a machine.
A battle skirt covered her lower half, and there were no facial features; the left eye was hollow while three grooves replaced the right eye.
On her head was a veil similar to a nun’s habit, draping behind her without revealing her hair.
Lifting her arm, Zhao Mingyue tried to make a fist; her body brimmed with unparalleled power.
This marble-like female form was something she had whimsically conjured.
The nun’s long headscarf combined with a battle skirt and spear-shaped arm blades were lethal weapons. The mask on her face was of an executioner’s design, lacking any warmth.
Overall, it was just one word: too cool!
At first glance, it screamed BOSS.
She lightly leaped down and raised her right arm; the spear blade, as thick as an adult man’s thigh, swung down heavily onto a ghost, sending it flying, severing its body in half.
“Oh, what a shame! I can only play with my little Gundam in the dream. Once I’m out, it’ll be gone.”
Bai Yu’s bl**d threads probably couldn’t form her current shape, could they?
She kicked through the wall of a nearby building, easily piercing a believer’s head and tossing it aside.
Zhao Mingyue’s suddenly whimsical body truly descended like a BOSS amidst the believers and evil spirits.
She demolished several buildings and took out over ten believers before turning to face the four massive black shadows looming in the sky.
The left one blinked its solitary red eye.
“So you guys aren’t so scary after all.”

“Why is this happening?”
The Burning Heart Goddess struggled in agony.
Bai Yu wasn’t even vying for control of Zhao Mingyue’s body anymore. She was gradually using bl**d mist to devour both her and Zhao Mingyue’s souls, leaving the Burning Heart Goddess feeling helpless.
At that moment, it felt as though her body was engulfed in raging flames. At this rate, if Zhao Mingyue didn’t d*e, she would be the first to perish.
She was merely a part of Zhao Mingyue’s soul—not even a third—and the ultimate outcome of being eaten away was that she would d*e, while Zhao Mingyue would still have plenty of soul left.
She couldn’t afford to wait any longer!
Cursing like a madman inside, she made up her mind to go out.
Bai Yu was a downright lunatic!
To drive her away, she was willing to harm Zhao Mingyue’s soul.
She didn’t understand why Bai Yu didn’t hesitate or show concern when doing this, as if she didn’t care one bit about Zhao Mingyue’s life or d*ath.
The damage done to Zhao Mingyue’s soul from this relentless devouring wouldn’t just magically heal. Even if Zhao Mingyue didn’t d*e, she would certainly suffer immensely.
After all, Zhao Mingyue was just a tool; if it were her, she wouldn’t care either.
It was very likely that this ghost called Bai Yu thought the same way.
Who would care about the life or d*ath of a tool, anyway?
In fact, Bai Yu was panicking; every second dragged on resulted in immense damage to Zhao Mingyue’s body. Yet she couldn’t show that, making it appear to the Burning Heart Goddess that even while dragging things out, Bai Yu wasn’t afraid.
Bai Yu was acting, and so was the Dragon Lady.
Seeing the moment had arrived, the Dragon Lady suddenly burst into laughter, entering a combat stance, her body covered in countless dragon scales.
“Bai Yu, your d*ath is at hand!”
“I’ve waited a long time for this opportunity!”
The Dragon Lady’s sudden “betrayal” left Bai Yu shocked, and she even relaxed her grip on the Burning Heart Goddess to stop the Dragon Lady.
The Dragon Lady truly meant business, tearing several bl**d threads apart before being swept away by them.
The Burning Heart Goddess’ eyes lit up.
An opportunity!
In this critical moment, she didn’t even take time to ponder why the Dragon Lady had suddenly betrayed her; she only knew she could “jump into” the Dragon Lady’s body from Zhao Mingyue’s.
After getting knocked away twice, on the third attempt when the Dragon Lady broke through Bai Yu’s bl**d threads, her hand touched Zhao Mingyue inside.
And at that precise moment…
“You fool! You’ve ruined such a perfect body!”
“Just wait.”
Her consciousness twisted, like cotton candy or mist.
It happened so fast that even the Dragon Lady couldn’t react. She wanted to take the chance to k*ll the Burning Heart Goddess, but before she could blink, the Burning Heart Goddess’s consciousness entered her body.
With a fragment of a soul, the Burning Heart Goddess easily occupied the Dragon Lady’s soul.
The Dragon Lady momentarily dazed, but then smiled.
“Very nice to see you tumble out of my sister’s body.”
“We meet again, Burning Heart.”
“Let me introduce myself, I am the Dragon Lady; of course, you can also call me Zhao Yi.”

There’s another chapter tonight.
Please vote for me, I promise to perform a standing split while crying.
On leave
Initially, I was planning to have another update, but I had to take my cat for neutering in the evening. When I came back, there was a little issue (I bought an Elizabethan collar that was too small).
Without that collar, he kept licking his wound, leading to an infection.
I really had no choice and intended to buy another one, but all the pet stores outside were closed, and I couldn’t find one for sale on Meituan or Ele.me.
So I thought, why not just make one myself? But that led to a lot of hassle that’s still up in the air.
Here’s a picture of him during his neutering.

And this below is after I came home, and I sewed a horrendously ugly cardboard on his collar to help.

Next is the upgraded version of the cardboard.

It truly looked ugly, but at least I thought it might be useful.
But then, the next second, it broke.

I was utterly infuriated! I’ll do some serious research later!

This silly cat has its usual look.

Now, about the updates. This chapter is one I owe you all, and tomorrow I’ll make up for it with four updates!
