Chapter 171: The Heartfelt Voice of the Dragon Lady
The White Day Amusement Park was built in the wilderness, and at night, the entire park vanished into darkness. Distant silhouettes of attractions could be seen, surrounded by quiet, with what seemed like curious animals rustling nearby.
Just like most task locations, any little movement here was magnified infinitely.
The moonlight was dim, shadows swayed with the cold wind, and through the pale illumination, one could see the rust-covered gates of the amusement park, with various plants tangled around the railings, while weeds grew rampant inside.
In fact, it was quite clean here. Bai Yu looked around and noted that not even the slightest ghostly presence or grudge lingered.
She had just confirmed it; there seemed to be a special magnetic field that subconsciously repelled ghosts from this place, rendering even the most determined ghost with a ticket ineffective during the task time frame.
It’s simple to explain.
This is the dream world, a realm where ghosts cannot dream. Naturally, it generates a repulsive reaction.
“Okay, don’t worry. Mingyue has already gone inside. Even if someone turns back now, it’ll be fine, as long as we return from Eternal Life Village quickly to fetch her out.”
Feeling that Bai Yu was still reluctant to leave, the Dragon Lady said, pulling open the car door and sitting in the driver’s seat, buckling her seatbelt with expertise.
“Are you worried that that Nightmare guy might go in?”
“I think the chances of him entering are practically zero.” She revved the engine, turning the car towards Eternal Life Village. “This guy is more scared than you think and much smarter too. I’ve worked with him before, in the world of Kakatel Kingdom.”
“Most importantly, if he goes in, he’ll inevitably show up inside the amusement park the next day. If you and I were hiding there, he’d be as good as dead.”
“Instead of worrying about him taking action, you should be more concerned about him sending some puppets inside.”
“After all, Zhao Mingyue is just a little female protagonist. There’s no need for him to exhaust much effort to k*ll her.”
“For him to do it himself would be like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut—totally unnecessary.”
“And besides, what’s the benefit for him in killing Zhao Mingyue now? The only thing he could achieve is to provoke your anger, freeing you up to deal with him instead of all the troublesome stuff.”
The Dragon Lady suddenly changed her tune, her earlier rationality evaporating in an instant.
“How about this, Bai Yu? I’ll reluctantly allow you to flirt with my sister while being with me. Sibling flower play, a dream come true for many. As long as you agree, I promise to always stand by your side and help you take off Nightmare’s head. Consider it your bridal gift, alright?”
“Come on, say something! Can’t even satisfy you with sister flower play?”
“You can like my sister, so how about you divide some of that affection and leave it for me too? That’d be fine, wouldn’t it?”
“Or do you prefer younger lolis? I’m a loli right now! Much cuter than Zhao Mingyue’s big, dumb head!”
“Sister~”
The Dragon Lady’s voice was sweet and adorable. Just hearing it conjured up an image of a cute, round-faced loli. But as she sweetly called ‘sister,’ she slammed on the gas while yanking the handbrake, the rear lights drawing a red arc as the car screeched away with a sharp brake noise.
“Woo-hoo! Hahaha!”
Soft piano music played in the car as the Dragon Lady’s laughter tinkled like silver bells. With such a reckless grin, her sweet voice somehow made it sound charming.
“Sister, why aren’t you talking? I’m talking to you, you’re so mean for ignoring me. I’m going to be mad!”
“Come on, agree already! Seriously, tonight is one of the rare happy moments of my life, one I’ll probably never forget.”
“Seeing those crazy people with their terrified eyes trying to keep calm was too funny.”
“I don’t want tonight to just be a memory; I want it to become part of my life. You know, this feeling of ‘being alive’ is just so amazing. You probably will never understand.”
“My life has always been hollow, numb.”
“I cry too, but my tears taste like nothing when I try them.”
“Joy and sorrow, bl**d and flesh, emotion and loyalty—such simple things that everyone has, yet for me, they’re a luxury. Only when I’m with you and Mingyue do they exist; only then can I enjoy them, if only for a short while.”
“So I’m greedy, so I’m never satisfied, so I’m filled with possessiveness!”
“If I say I like you just for this, that’s not entirely true; there are many other things that attract me to you. You, my dear, are just full of charm.”
“Bai Yu, you will forever be my moonlight.”
“I’ve said all this, so how about you call me ‘sister’ just once? I want to hear it!”

The road to Eternal Life Village was originally filled with tension, and even Bai Yu didn’t know what lay ahead. Throughout the journey, the Dragon Lady chatted endlessly, her mood swinging between normal and mad, making it hard to discern which was the real her.
Once, during a brief encounter, she recalled telling the Dragon Lady to drink less and not get too tipsy.
The Dragon Lady had stared for a moment, then laughed and said, “I’m not drinking, I don’t even like the taste of alcohol. But you’re right; I’m drunk, and only when I’m with you do I feel this way. I like it; being too clear-headed isn’t as good as being drunk, right?”
But all along, she never wanted to accept the Dragon Lady’s feelings.
This gal had always wanted to k*ll her; if that behavior were labeled “love,” naturally, she wouldn’t accept it.
The journey felt endlessly long, despite the Dragon Lady’s fast driving.
When they reached Eternal Life Village, she expertly slid the car into the main road of the village, a mocking smile on her face, seemingly taunting the four black shadows in the sky.
“Here I am, come and get me!”
Eternal Life Village was Zhao Mingyue’s nightmare, and it was also the Dragon Lady’s nightmare.
Having lost her soul, she wouldn’t feel fear either, yet she often found herself back here in dreams, bound to a sacrificial altar, surrounded by a group of demons wearing human skin, behind which loomed four extreme darknesses.
The engine roared, shattering the village’s silence as shadowy figures appeared among scattered houses on both sides, all wax corpses.
There were practically no living people left in the village—those who remained had become pawns of the Evil God.
Due to the magnetic field, this place had never been exposed to the outside world. If anyone entered by mistake, they usually faced one of two grim fates: cursed and obliviously wandering out, or, if the curse was deep, becoming a believer.
“The car can’t drive anymore; let’s get out here and walk in,” the Dragon Lady said, stepping out and gazing into the mountains with her hands on her hips and a lifted chin.
The dark forest of the night was as terrifying as any task scene, but just standing at the foot of the mountain made one hesitate before that devouring darkness, which signified the unknown.
With black-scaled armor-like dragon scales covering her, her eyes glimmered a dark gold. As she blinked, they turned into the slitted pupils of a beast.
“Tonight, let’s go on a killing spree!”
The Dragon Lady spread her arms wide, and her dragon wings suddenly unfurled. She bolted forward, her legs exploding with power as she easily stepped onto tree branches. bl**d threads connected her to far-off trees, and with a kick-off from her toes, her wings intensified her speed.
Dashing through the dark forest, with Bai Yu’s bl**d threads guiding her, the Dragon Lady was astonishingly fast.
If it were solely on foot, she would undoubtedly encounter numerous monsters along the way.
Bai Yu could see it all. Almost every mile had a ghost.
The mountain slopes, especially at the foot, had been heavily deforested, littered with graves of all sizes—hardly better than a potter’s field.
“Is there something ahead!”
The Dragon Lady leaped high into the sky, spreading her wings wide. Mid-air, she did a swift turn, hovering above a slowly moving parade below.
The procession was lively with drums and gongs, decked in red and looking quite festive—clearly a wedding procession.
The problem was, this was deep in the mountains.
A wedding parade, making noise deep in the mountains? The figures moved awkwardly, and upon a closer look at the red lanterns, they were unmistakably heads with red candles stuck in their mouths!
“So lively, are there any red envelopes to grab?”
Boom!
The Dragon Lady crashed down from the sky, stomping the bridal palanquin into splinters, fragments scattering everywhere.
In an instant, the procession came to a halt, and the ghosts and wax corpses turned in unison to face the wreckage of the palanquin, where the Dragon Lady was standing on the new bride’s head.
“Bride, lift the veil so big sis can have a look!”
The Dragon Lady’s words were clear, and as the last word left her lips, she stomped hard, smashing the bride’s head like a watermelon, dark red bl**d streaming out from beneath the already bloodied veil. Even with her head crushed, the bride still tried to grasp at the Dragon Lady’s ankle with her dry, ghostly claws.
bl**d threads shot out, shredding the bride’s body into bits, and the Dragon Lady burst into laughter, swatting away an incoming ghostly head.
“No red envelopes, huh? Well, then none of you are leaving here today.”
Three minutes later, corpses flew everywhere as the Dragon Lady dusted off her claws, holding a ghostly head in one hand, her dark golden eyes locking onto her prey.
“I need lights, so you better lead the way nicely tonight, or else I’ll stuff you in the latrine.”
The head ghost’s expression changed dramatically, the candles in its mouth glowing much brighter now.
