### Chapter 262: Saving the Spider!
In terms of the Ghost Domain and the Gatekeeper, her bl**d threads now officially had a name: Painful Threads. The biggest difference from ordinary bl**d threads was that their essential power wasn’t derived from resentment but rather from malicious intent, leaning more toward the realm of Evil Gods.
But right now, it seemed less like leaning toward Evil Gods and more like heading straight for the Ghost Gate.
What lay beyond the Ghost Gate, Bai Yu had no idea.
What worried her was that if she continued down this path, her connection to the Ghost Gate would deepen. These bl**d threads were the foundation of her being. So if they started gravitating toward the Ghost Gate, it was safe to say that her current state meant she was slowly entwining herself with it.
Indeed, after her bl**d threads had gradually transformed into Painful Threads, her power surged at an astonishing pace—sturdier than ever, with a higher limit, an increased number, and a noticeable boost in quality, especially in terms of absorption—doubling at least!
The only price to pay was that she became less controllable, feeling like a wild stallion that required more effort to rein in. Otherwise, it could spiral out of control at any moment.
She had been pondering the origins of this malicious intent, wondering what kind of power existed before it transformed into something harmful.
Evil Gods didn’t necessarily rely on the Ghost Gate for power; Thousand Eyes Godmother was a prime example.
Standing before the Ghost Gate, Bai Yu felt an indescribable thrill.
It was as if an unseen force was drawing her in, luring her to enter the Ghost Gate.
Inside the Ghost Gate, strands of Painful Threads were spreading everywhere. With the spider’s suppression gone, these threads nearly filled the entire room.
Bai Yu swung her kn*fe, severing one of the Painful Threads, which instantly dissolved into a wisp of malicious intent that scattered in the air. Her gaze sharpened, and she stepped forward, reaching out to touch the receding malice.
If her current bl**d threads hadn’t fully become Painful Threads yet and were still tainted by less pure power, mostly influenced by malicious intent, then the Painful Threads produced inside the Ghost Gate were pure malice. The kind of twisted despair they radiated was entirely different from the lingering resentment of Evil Ghosts.
In comparison, the resentment from Evil Ghosts felt oddly peaceful.
Stepping back, Bai Yu’s mind remained clear, untouched by the voice urging her forward.
She was quite curious to see inside.
Was the Painful Threads emanating from the Ghost Gate a result of the Gate’s own birth, or were there strong Evil Ghosts hidden within?
The chance of it being an Evil God was slim; it hadn’t fully manifested yet, and Evil Gods couldn’t utilize that ability.
At that moment, her phone in her pocket vibrated sharply.
Bai Yu quickly exited the room, using her bl**d threads to retrieve her phone from her leather jacket’s pocket—it was Lu Liangting.
She answered the call, and Lu Liangting’s anxious voice came through.
“We’ve got a big problem! Most of the villagers in this village are being controlled by some unknown force, and they keep chanting the name of an Evil God—Black Sun Godmother.”
“We can’t approach the Ghost Gate for now; the spider is guarding it.”
“But we’re certain that the villagers’ calls are accelerating the Evil God’s awakening! The Store Manager suspects that the people from the Ghost Domain want to use the spider’s body as a vessel and embryo to revive the Evil God!”
Bai Yu looked towards the direction where Lu Liangting and the others were. “Got it! I’m on my way.”
“Okay, the Store Manager and I will try to divert the spider; she wants to enter the Ghost Gate.”
“Sounds good.”
Hanging up, Bai Yu raised her hand, using bl**d threads to seal Little Moon’s room again before controlling Zhao Mingyue’s body to hurry in that direction.
She didn’t quite grasp the motivations of the Ghost Domain. Were they really only trying to revive this Evil God? If that was the case, why let that dopey Evil Spirit walk to its d*ath? The two Ghost Gates were connected; they could easily trick the stupid thing into becoming Black Sun Godmother’s food!
Little Moon and the spider had the ghost flute to leverage.
Delaying this long and letting the Evil Spirit head into danger seemed unnecessary. She didn’t believe the Ghost Domain could struggle against such a foolish Evil Spirit.
There had to be some other agenda.
Bai Yu felt like she was missing something crucial.

“Spider, if you go in now, what do you plan to do after passing Little Moon? That child’s world is only you; if you d*e, what will happen to her? Who will take care of her?”
In a courtyard similar to the one where the spider resided, Lu Liangting stepped forward and spoke to the spider, who was about to enter the Ghost Gate.
Two powerful Red-clothed Evil Ghosts stood beside him, neither Aunt Su nor Old Yang were pushovers, both standout beings in the realm of Red-clothed Evil Ghosts—certainly not all Red Ghosts had Bai Yu’s strength.
Still, even with that, Lu Liangting felt no sense of safety.
The spider might not be as formidable as Bai Yu, but it was still strong enough to pose a serious threat.
In this courtyard, the Ghost Gate wasn’t inside but located in the yard, replacing the main entrance of the building.
Standing between the gates, hearing Lu Liangting’s voice, the spider hesitated momentarily, slowly turning her tall, slender frame around. Six eyes burned with a wild madness, completely different from the spider they knew.
True, the spider appeared terrifying, yet her eyes were usually calm regardless of the situation, making her distinctly different from other ghosts. This resemblance to Bai Yu was remarkable.
But now, in her gaze shone the wildness of a crazed beast, completely fixated on Lu Liangting, disregarding the Ghost Gate behind her.
Sweat dripped down Lu Liangting’s forehead; he was in high tension. Even so, he continued to stoke her anger.
“Get a grip! Look at your current state; if Little Moon saw you, it would break her heart! She’s so fragile, drinking herbal medicine daily—did you forget that? You brewed it yourself! If something happens to you, what then?”
“She can’t take care of herself; can you trust anyone else to do it?”
“If you want to live the rest of your life without seeing Little Moon, keep slipping deeper into this haze!”
As Lu Liangting spoke, the spider’s expression clearly showed hesitation, though her gaze remained unchanged.
This was a good start. Lu Liangting began to slowly step back while continuing to use Little Moon to provoke the spider. It was clear that for the spider, Little Moon was the most important person; otherwise, she wouldn’t even consider hesitating.
“Little Moon is waiting for you to come home; she’s very worried about you! Did you know that?”
“Are you a good sister, leaving her all alone at home? Did you forget there are others watching her?”
“If you don’t return home now, and that Evil Spirit finds her, it will wipe out her soul and take over her body! When you return, you won’t see her; only a strange soul will occupy her body.
“Can you bear to see Little Moon being bullied like that?”
After Lu Liangting’s speech, he observed the spider’s changes. Her expression shifted from hesitance to struggle, her body freezing in place with her hands clutching her head.
The courtyard’s gate stood wide open, and Li Tianan squatted outside, arranging formations, occasionally looking up in astonishment at how Lu Liangting’s words were effectively holding the spider at bay.
Just as this thought crossed Li Tianan’s mind, a growl erupted from within the courtyard. Lu Liangting dove backward, rolling across the ground before bouncing up. What was once an empty yard was now filled with black threads weaving together.
The spider tugged on a black line and leaped into the air, her four arms and legs clinging onto the chaotic black threads, boosting her speed significantly.
The black lines formed a spear that shot straight at Lu Liangting. However, Old Yang was quick on his feet, creating a shield from bl**d threads that barely managed to divert the spear’s trajectory instead of blocking it outright.
Before they could take a sigh of relief, the spider hovered in mid-air, each of her four arms gripping a spear. Without another word, she hurled them all.
In the blink of an eye, two spears pierced Old Yang, one pinned Aunt Su to the ground, and another aimed straight for Lu Liangting, who managed to tumble away just in time.
Lu Liangting lunged under the house, thinking he’d evade the spider’s spear; he was shocked to find the spears could pierce through walls.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh! The sound of rushing wind echoed around him as six spears embedded themselves around him.
Not bothering to dodge, he realized the spider didn’t rely on eyes; it was the threads that sensed his location.
Just as he turned to make a break for it, he found the main gate completely sealed by a dense arrangement of black threads. Not just that, but the space under the building also began to constrict with more and more threads, compressing his movement space.
Feeling helpless, he wondered how the spider, in such a chaotic mental state, could still fight with such clarity and efficiency!
Boom!
Flames erupted, incinerating the black threads at the entrance.
“Old Yang, Aunt Su, let’s pull back!” Lu Liangting flew out, just as three spears shot past him, embedding themselves in the ground before vanishing.
“Find an open space!” Li Tianan was feeling a headache; after all the effort he put into perfecting that formation, little did he know the spider wasn’t interested in close combat.
“Got it!”
As Old Yang and Aunt Su returned, Lu Liangting dashed toward the open space, with the spider, true to her name, swiftly pursuing him on all fours across the rooftops.
“We’ll just have to wait for Bai Yu to save us.” Li Tianan dodged one of the spears, shouting back as he did.
“I’m going to k*ll Xia Bingyue right now; if you’re brave enough, come chase me!”
Sure enough, as soon as he said that, the spider’s speed increased dramatically.
There was no other choice; they had to divert the spider; otherwise, d*ath was guaranteed.
