### Chapter 27: The Little Planner Zhao Mingyue
A young girl stood in front of a police car, dressed in a black long dress, her hair tied in a ponytail cascading behind her. She wasn’t a knockout, but definitely had a look that was easy on the eyes—except for that terrifying glint in her eyes that screamed “danger.”
“Who are you?” Lu Liangting asked, still a bit puzzled. He was sitting in the car, unable to get a clear view of the girl’s face, but her voice was so familiar he just couldn’t place it.
“Can you do me a favor? It’s really, really important!” she repeated, causing suspicion to creep into Lu Liangting’s mind.
Her sudden appearance was bizarre. Who in their right mind would be loitering around an apartment complex at 2:30 AM—especially a young woman?
“The police are right here in the car… Wait, Officer Chen?!” Lu Liangting suddenly realized that the officers in the front seats had passed out. How had he not noticed that before?
Before he could even turn around, he heard a click—one of the back doors of the police car swung open as that delicate little hand yanked it open. A few strands of black hair fell forward, and Lu Liangting finally got a good look at the girl’s eerie smiling face, his pupils narrowing involuntarily.
“It’s you!”
He had seen her before, in the next class over, and just the other day she had been asking him some nonsensical questions. Now here she was again.
“Looks like you remember me, great! But I hope you’ll remember my name forever! And only mine! If you even think of another name, I’ll be very unhappy,” she said, her mouth curling into a mischievous grin as she stretched her hand toward him.
“I need you to help me with something. Only you can do it,” she continued.
At that moment, Lu Liangting felt dizzy. Suddenly, it hit him like a ton of bricks: someone had drugged the car.
He couldn’t believe how reckless this girl was—attacking him in a police vehicle!
“Zhang Lin.” He slipped a hand into his pocket, gripping the pen. In a blink, a figure appeared behind the black-dressed girl, arms outstretched toward her.
She looked fragile, but her reflexes were insane! Just as Zhang Lin reached out, she twisted her body in a ridiculous angle, dodging his grasp.
“Ghosts are interesting.”
With a cold smirk, she bit into her finger without hesitation, and with bloodied fingers, lunged toward Zhang Lin’s eyes like a tiger attacking its prey. He didn’t even have time to react before she struck him. He let out a muffled, painful groan before vanishing from sight.
BAM!
Lu Liangting kicked the back of the police car, landing a hit on the girl’s rear end. He quickly slammed the door shut and locked it, using all his remaining strength to lunge forward and grab the walkie-talkie attached to the center console.
“Officer attacked, request backup.”
There were still two officers in the hallway; they would be sure to come running upon hearing the news.
After doing all this, Lu Liangting finally felt consciousness slipping away into darkness, but not before stealing a glance at the fifth floor of the Sunshine apartment.
He had planned to investigate “her” background and help her escape.
The black-dress girl turned, her eyes narrowing dangerously.
So close to success…
“Eh, there will be more chances.” She murmured, walking away into the distance.
She noticed someone in a nearby alley watching her with a mocking glare, and there was more than one person there.
“Hmph, one of these days, I’ll deal with you all.”
“No need to rush; once I take down Lu Liangting, you’ll be waiting for execution.”
—
Bai Yu stood by the window, peering down at the police car, having witnessed the whole scene unfold.
Beside her, Zhao Mingyue looked perplexed. “Who was that woman? What just happened?”
“I think it’s probably an emotional issue,” Bai Yu joked for once.
“Emotional issue? I haven’t heard of Lu Liangting dating anyone! Are you sure you’re not mistaken? Even if it is an emotional problem, why would they argue at this hour?”
“Argue? I can totally picture her dismembering Lu Liangting and holding his head while slowly arguing with him!”
“Uhh…” Zhao Mingyue was at a loss for words.
She knew very well that Bai Yu wasn’t much of a jokester, so if she said that, it was probably more accurate than a light-hearted quip!
Bai Yu turned to head back inside, her mood remarkably calm.
It was a given that Lu Liangting was being targeted. Too many wolves and not enough meat—this pack of lunatics wanted him, and some would even go to the lengths of eliminating him along with the other side characters.
With Lu Liangting in danger, Zhao Mingyue was equally at risk. As her biggest competitor, she needed to go.
“Let’s call it a night; we can talk about it tomorrow.”
“It’s already late; it wouldn’t hurt to stay up a little longer. Bai Yu, share the details of what just happened with Lu Liangting. Why does that woman want to dismember him?” Seeing Bai Yu’s frozen expression, Zhao Mingyue latched onto her.
“No need to know; just know there are a lot of women like her around Lu Liangting. Here’s my advice: stay far away from him at school, and especially steer clear of anyone who acts oddly, particularly women.”
“Okay, but you have to tell me why!”
“To put it bluntly, just like tonight, anyone who approaches you is highly likely to want to k*ll you. Being at school will be even more dangerous than this encounter.”
Bai Yu wasn’t the chatty type, but with Zhao Mingyue pestering her, she ended up divulging more than intended.
“Got it! I will be careful!” With Bai Yu saying that, Zhao Mingyue didn’t argue; she nodded seriously.
“Daytime will significantly weaken my power, and I can only help you once. Once I expose myself, those people will know I’m around. Next time they try to attack you, they’ll definitely find a way to eliminate me first before coming for you.”
“I understand. I’ll be cautious, but I need more than my own caution—I still lack experience. So, for the foreseeable future, I’ll be relying on you, Bai Yu!”
Bai Yu hadn’t anticipated that it would lead to her doing all the work. Given that plan, without Zhao Mingyue’s guidance, she would be toast.
To play it safe, she’d need to keep reminding her and pay extra attention.
“Fine.” With that, Bai Yu, still with her signature low ponytails, vanished into thin air, slipping into Zhao Mingyue’s shadow.
What went unseen was the scheming grin spreading across Zhao Mingyue’s face.
Be cautious, certainly, but that didn’t mean there wasn’t plenty more she could do in the meantime.
Like getting Bai Yu to talk more and ditching that cold demeanor!
