### Chapter 288: A Meeting with the Arch-Nemesis
In matters like this, Bai Yu could never win against Zhao Mingyue.
Zhao Mingyue wouldn’t throw a tantrum or threaten to hang herself, but she had her ways of being “sneaky” to make Bai Yu capitulate. Especially when it came to finding the perfect outfit, if she could dig up something even more outrageous than what Bai Yu had tried on before, then Bai Yu would end up thinking that the previous dress was actually quite acceptable.
So when Zhao Mingyue pulled out that nurse’s outfit, Bai Yu sighed and reluctantly agreed to wear the earlier black and red gothic-style long dress. At least it was relatively conservative, with hardly anything revealing—just grazing her calves, no thigh exposure in sight!
She wasn’t one to fuss over her looks. On most days, she could wear anything as long as it was considered “normal.” She could even tolerate the existence of skirts, that terrifying concept!
But wearing a nurse’s outfit to collect believers using the powers of the Black Sun Godmother? Now that was something she couldn’t even begin to justify.
That was just way too embarrassing.
If Dragon Lady, her old friend who knew her well, found out, Bai Yu would be the laughingstock at every meal or chat from then on. She could just imagine her doctor title cruelly turning into “Nurse”—just like that little maid from Lu Liangting’s household.
After settling on her attire, Bai Yu plopped onto her bed and pulled out the ghost gate intel from Li Tianan.
She needed to hit up various ghost gates and gather believers to dilute the evil thoughts simmering in her system using their faith power.
Not only did she need to do this, but she also had to be extra careful—not a single whisper of this reaching Nightmare over there.
For now, Nightmare had no clue just how special Feng Xi’s physical constitution was. The intel from the Ghost Domain mentioned she was a perfect embryo, or essentially a living human embryo, but the powerful psychic energy capable of empowering any evil god was something that could only be understood by direct contact with Feng Xi.
Forget Nightmare; even Lu Liangting was in the dark about it.
So there was zero chance of Nightmare suspecting she would utilize Feng Xi’s strength to activate the curse power of the evil god.
While she had the chance, it was best to clean out the bad thoughts in her system first. By the time Nightmare figured it out, it wouldn’t matter. She’d have already tidied up her evil vibes, rendering any attempts by Nightmare to force her to absorb evil gods utterly pointless.
Also, it’d be great to scout out Nightmare’s exact location during this time.
If she could find the source, a good old face-off could clear up 90% of the mess.
“So, are we heading out of the province next?” Zhao Mingyue asked, after getting a read on Bai Yu’s thoughts.
The ghost gates within the province were basically under the control of that gang of female madmen. Trying to corral an evil ghost under their noses was a tall order; even if they succeeded, they risked exposing their plans.
Outside the province? No problem there; no one’s ever mentioned it, and it seems nobody’s ventured out.
The only concern was the unknown forces outside the province—there might be organizations like the Ghost Domain lurking around.
In this massive country, the Ghost Domain only operated in Tianchang City and its vicinities. There weren’t any reports of them wreaking havoc outside the province.
So whether there were similar organizations in other provinces was anyone’s guess, but even without the Ghost Domain, there were Gatekeepers.
After taking down so many Gatekeepers last time, over 90% of them came from within the province, with those from other provinces largely untouched.
Zhao Mingyue figured the Gatekeeper organization was probably much larger than the Ghost Domain.
How many ghost gates existed all over the world? One gate, one Gatekeeper? That’d add up to a staggering number!
At least several hundred, if not thousands!
A few thousand members make for a hefty organization. Some ghost gates might even be out of the Gatekeepers’ jurisdiction. Surely there were other organizations that took an interest in ghost gates—countless talents and unusual individuals out there, just like Li Tianan’s mentor.
For all intents and purposes, her mentor could only be half a Gatekeeper at best.
“Heading out of the province sounds like a plan; these addresses are quite detailed. Let’s check them out.”
Bai Yu pondered whether to do her ghost gate exploration before or after her visits.
After all the deliberation, she decided to scope out the ghost gates first.
The evil thoughts still lurking within her body were bound to have some noticeable effect in the world behind the ghost gates—she’d tested that before.
Having evil thoughts was practically part of her embryo’s nature, only it was incredibly minor.
It was precisely the existence of these evil thoughts that kept her feeling little pressure in her body.
Or perhaps she just inherently existed within the ghost gate world.
After entering the ghost gate, she wouldn’t just fit in; she felt right at home, at least without any pushback.
She didn’t think it was entirely due to those minuscule evil thoughts!
Her current identity remained a mystery. What this body did before she ended up in this world, or where it existed, was hard to say.
What she gathered so far was that all the players in this game weren’t mere figments of imagination—they existed within this world all along but had been replaced. This made it easier to blend into the scenery.
“I wonder if there are task sites outside the province; there should be, right? Ghosts can’t possibly only haunt Tianchang City!”
Zhao Mingyue thought this was the perfect chance for her to level up; her growth rate had been a snail’s pace.
Once they hit a task site, she’d follow the task process, then let Bai Yu swoop in afterward to catch all the ghosts and convert them into believers.
It wouldn’t waste time either; tasks rarely took longer than a night.
After hashing it out, Zhao Mingyue carefully tucked her selected skirts away.
Night fell.
Zhao Mingyue drifted into a dream.
In her dream, she was on assignment in a run-down cinema, surrounded by ghosts and monsters galore. Suddenly, she discovered a ghost gate in the schlocky cinema, and before she and Bai Yu could act, a horde of ghosts erupted from within.
These ghosts were sharp cookies, aiming straight for Bai Yu.
After dispatching Bai Yu’s believers, they tried to take Bai Yu down—but it turned out they were no match for her, and she absolutely wiped the floor with them.
And there poor Zhao Mingyue stood, a shameful bystander.
Watching her deity decked out in gothic garb brawl while she just stood there, completely useless.

Meanwhile, in a certain neighborhood, at a specific household…
Dragon Lady was humming a tune as she knocked on the door.
Today was her tutoring day.
She was tired of this lifestyle, but hey, life’s all about the bucks! No matter how strong she was, she couldn’t just go around robbing people every day.
When the door opened, it wasn’t the homeowners she was expecting but a little girl who looked around fifteen or sixteen.
A familiar face! Dragon Lady recognized her—she was the sister of her student.
“Oh my, Ms. Zhao is here! Come in~”
Nightmare greeted Dragon Lady eagerly.
She recognized Dragon Lady but clearly, Dragon Lady had no clue who she was.

In the last three minutes,
I finally made it!
What’s this about limits, huh?
No more dressing as a girl; whimper whimper~
