Becoming a Fierce Ghost, I Turned into the Shadow Behind the Heroine – Chapter 3

### Chapter Three: The White Skirt Female Ghost

That thing hasn’t left yet!

Zhao Mingyue’s pupils constricted, and her previously relaxed body tensed up again.

Wasn’t the game over? Why is this happening? Are the ghosts summoned just stuck here forever without a ride home!?

That sneaky male voice! She could be certain it was the same thing that had called her name and pounded on her door earlier. She thought she recognized it from somewhere, but couldn’t place it.

During the game, she had only faintly heard the voice, but now it was crystal clear, and a skinny man’s figure popped into her mind.

She finally knew who that ghost outside was. No wonder the voice sounded familiar; that was the guy from upstairs who had helped her lug her suitcase inside when she moved in. At first, she thought the middle-aged dude was pretty nice. Sure, he looked a bit disheveled and reeked of smoke and liquor, but he seemed alright enough.

But a month later, her opinion changed dramatically.

One night, while she was at a friend’s house, she returned after eleven. Just as she stepped onto the landing, she noticed someone standing at her door, seemingly peeking inside. Upon hearing her footsteps, the creep scurried away.

And that creep was her upstairs neighbor who had helped her with her luggage.

Every subsequent night at eleven-thirty, she could see the man’s face through the peephole. One time, as she leaned in to look, she was met with an eye dripping with bl**d threads.

By then, she had already called the police. After being spied on for three consecutive nights, she was terrified! But when the cops showed up, they left after just a few scolding words to the guy, since there was no evidence.

On the fourth day, the man stopped showing up, and the following month went on the same way. She still heard his coughing echoing down from upstairs every night at midnight.

After an entire month, she heard rustling outside again; the man was back! His complexion looked dreadful, eyes turning red and his skin pale as d*ath—he looked like a genuine corpse. But he vanished in a flash.

The next day, the police arrived, not because she called, but because the landlord did.

That day, the cops pulled out a highly decomposed corpse from upstairs—it was the same guy, and the cause of d*ath seemed to be alcohol poisoning.

“It’s him! It has to be him!”

Zhao Mingyue clutched her rabbit plush toy and backed up against the wall.

Suddenly, the mirror behind her cracked open, and through it, a man’s shadow emerged.

But that wasn’t even the worst part; it seemed the mirror’s perspective was right at the bathroom door. Since the man was standing at the corridor connecting the living room to the bathroom, Zhao Mingyue had no idea whether the ghost would come out of the mirror or burst through the door.

d*ath wasn’t the worst part; the worst part was waiting for it to happen.

“Bang! Bang! Bang!”

The banging on the door resumed, accompanied by violent shaking of the mirror. Through it, she saw the man wildly hammering the glass with his fists, curses oozing from between his teeth.

“If you don’t answer me, I’m coming in!”

The man in the mirror morphed from black shadow to flesh, his decayed face pressing against the surface. When he lifted his head, the rotten flesh clung to the mirror, revealing most of his jaw, with yellowing teeth glistening ominously in front of her.

His black cotton pajamas were drenched in dark red bl**d and what looked like vomit, and beneath them, masses of maggots writhed.

His eyeballs had nearly melted away, and he slammed his head against the mirror, causing it to shudder and crack, slicing his horrifying face into hundreds of pieces. At the same time, the front door burst open with a crash.

This all happened too fast; Zhao Mingyue found herself pressed against the wall.

The fear was real, but at that moment, she felt unnaturally calm.

She had always been like this; the more dangerous the situation, the calmer she became.

Unfortunately, no amount of calm could help her now. The bathroom window was too high to escape through, the door was blocked, and in the cramped space, she didn’t even have a real weapon—just the toilet plunger she found in the corner.

What a joke! The only thing that gave her a shred of safety was the rabbit plush toy clutched in her hands.

And she knew it was a vessel for another evil spirit.

Now, she had two options: either tango with the evil ghost and look for a way out, or fling the plush toy the moment the ghost entered, letting them “ghost-fight” it out.

“Are you there? I’m coming in…”

The rotting man grasped the door, creaking as he pushed it open. At that very instant, a bloodied plush toy flew straight at him.

The middle-aged male ghost froze momentarily, and the toy hung in mid-air as if caught by an invisible hand.

Zhao Mingyue planned to take her chance and dash out. But at the instant the toy was thrown, the temperature in the bathroom plummeted; the June heat suddenly felt bone-chilling!

Just as she suspected, a “third person” appeared in the bathroom.

With a thunderous crack, the bathroom door slammed shut. Pencil-thin bl**d threads began to ooze from the floor, creeping up the walls.

It was the outline of a young girl’s body—white skirt, slender and graceful, with hair as black as ink cascading down to her waist, reminiscent of a ballet dancer or a noble white swan. Just from her back, Zhao Mingyue had a ridiculous thought.

This female ghost, she must have been beautiful in life…

The reason she referred to the ghost as “female” and not “girl” was that this silhouette, aside from having a perfect figure, displayed black markings all over her otherwise pale skin, making it look like a perfectly cracked porcelain doll.

Bai Yu stepped forward, black mist seeping out around her. That mist was almost tangible grudge.

Beneath her dark hair, her crimson eyes fixed on the middle-aged male ghost at the door. His horrific visage elicited only disgust from her.

Raising her right hand, she clenched her slender fingers into a fist, watching as her small hand transformed.

The evil ghost’s strength was much weaker than she assumed—nowhere near even one percent of her original power!

As Bai Yu familiarized herself with her new body, the middle-aged male ghost unconsciously took a step back, realizing he wanted to escape, but the door behind him was already covered in bl**d threads.

“Ghost…”

An ethereal voice escaped from Bai Yu’s lips as her raised hand wound itself with thick chains shrouded in black mist, giving her arm an appearance of strength.

Bang!

Her small fist shot forth like an arrow, propelled by black mist. The middle-aged male ghost didn’t even have time to react before her punch pierced clean through his chest, shattering half his body.

He screeched like a pig, completely forgetting about Zhao Mingyue. As he leapt to escape, a chain with a pointed spike pierced his ankle, yanking him back with brutal force.

Bai Yu glared at him coldly. “Where do you think you’re running?”

Zhao Mingyue, hiding in the corner, witnessed the brutal scene unfold.

Her throat tightened, and she felt a pang of regret.

If a single ghost was so terrifying, what had she just summoned up? Something even worse…
