Chapter 323: Useless! Did I Bring You Out Here Just for Bai Yu to k*ll?
With all the corpses and bl**d around, Zhao Mingyue had pretty much gotten used to it by now. The bloody scene didn’t faze her, and she didn’t feel the urge to gag like before. This had something to do with her half-human, half-ghost body, making her less sensitive to corpses.
Earlier, when she was watching Bai Yu take down too many enemies from the rooftop, she was just thrown off by the sheer number. But after adjusting her mindset, it didn’t seem so bad anymore.
Compared to that, she was more concerned about what the Dragon Lady had said to her.
Despite Bai Yu’s usual personality, he was willing to change for her, even if it was just when she was around. That was more than enough for her.
“Ahem, ahem!” The Dragon Lady deliberately coughed a few times, constantly gesturing at Zhao Mingyue with her eyes.
Seriously, doesn’t this girl know how to read the room?
So many people were watching, and it was such a serious situation!
If you want hugs and kisses, at least wait until you get home! Can’t you be subtle about showing off your relationship?
She shouldn’t have said those things to her earlier, what a pain. Zhao Mingyue is technically her romantic rival!
Bai Yu didn’t speak, merely feeling a bit helpless in her heart.
Zhao Mingyue was pretty single-minded; she’d gotten used to it.
“Hehehe.” Once she let go of Bai Yu, Zhao Mingyue didn’t feel any shame; in fact, she was smug, as if the words “My Wife is Awesome” were written all over her face.
The Dragon Lady beside her was speechless. How could she have such a silly little sister? This girl clearly wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed. But then, if she were in Zhao Mingyue’s shoes and had Bai Yu so smitten, she’d probably be even more smug!
She patted Zhao Mingyue on the head and summoned bl**d Threads to start cleaning up the battlefield.
If they didn’t deal with all these corpses, explosive news would pop up within a few days, and that would be a nuisance.
The clean-up would be left to the Gatekeeper.
She hadn’t really wanted to k*ll this group; just like Chen Yunshi had said, keeping them around for a little cooperation would save her a lot of time.
“Hey, Teacher Chen, what are you doing here?” After getting all cozy, Zhao Mingyue glanced over at Chen Yunshi, who was standing not far away.
“We’re here to save people. Let Bai Yu go easy; this is a bit sudden, but that old man over there is our Chen Yunshi’s father,” the Thousand Eyes Godmother exclaimed, immediately breaking her cold demeanor and revealing a somewhat foolish smile as she waved at Zhao Mingyue.
“Indeed, I am your Teacher Chen’s father, and as you can see, I am also the Chairman of the Gatekeepers.” Chairman Chen hurriedly jumped in.
Zhao Mingyue’s identity was quite important, not for herself but because of her relationship with Bai Yu.
“Got it.”
“Everyone, d*e!”
Suddenly, Zhou Shan, who had been cursed and brainwashed, snapped back to reality. In front of everyone, he pulled out a dagger and stabbed it fiercely into his own heart, black patterns emerging on his skin as a suffocating aura rose.
This aura posed no real threat; rather, it created a sort of connection with the distant Ghost Gate, intertwining them both into something more sinister.
In less than a second, Bai Yu had used her bl**d Threads to wrap Zhou Shan’s body tightly, forming a cocoon around him, which only slowed the spread of the aura.
She turned her gaze toward the direction of the Ghost Gate.
That Ghost Gate was a real door; if you went through it, you’d directly enter a whole new world.
She frowned and glanced at Zhou Shan, deciding to simply let him release his aura. She realized that he was doing it to provide a coordinate for something behind the Ghost Gate to come out. It clearly appeared to be an Evil God of sorts.
What could an unformed Evil God even do once it appeared?
“Bai Yu?” The Dragon Lady spoke up, seeing Bai Yu raise her hand in indication, quickly grasping her intention.
The dragon scales on her began to cover her body, transforming into her dragon-human state. Chen Yunshi, confused, looked towards the Ghost Gate and felt the aura of an Evil God starting to surface and suddenly understood.
She thought Zhou Shan had some powerful trick up his sleeve, but it turned out he was just summoning an Evil God.
“Thousand Eyes.”
“Understood!”
The Thousand Eyes Godmother expanded, no longer just a head, but revealing much of her form behind Chen Yunshi. Although her figure was obscured, composed of black mist, from a glance, there was a divine essence, like a goddess descending into the mortal realm.
Bai Yu looked at Zhao Mingyue, who understood and opened her arms for Bai Yu to possess her.
The prelude of hugs before possession had practically become a standard requirement. Bai Yu actively embraced her, merging into her.
Zhao Mingyue’s eyes filled with black mist, and the sunlight symbols made of bl**d Threads faintly glimmered behind her.
Meanwhile, Zhou Shan wore a twisted expression, wishing more than anything to see that creature behind the Ghost Gate emerge and take everyone down with it.
The thing inside him had been there for many years; it wasn’t something he’d use in a situation like this. Even if he were to be killed, he likely wouldn’t initiate its use. The process was simply too torturous–piercing his own heart and watching his life drain away was a dark, twisted fate.
The aura was gathering, and everyone could distinctly feel something was about to emerge from behind the Ghost Gate.
Maybe it was sensing that something was off, as they waited half a minute, and nothing came out, just stuck there as if on pause.
Clearly, the power of the Ghost Gate was already enough for it to show itself.
Seeing this, Bai Yu directly raised her hand, and several black tentacles shot into the Ghost Gate.
If it were just her main body, such an action would risk her tentacles disappearing into the Ghost Gate. Or if they entered, they would lose control. After all, they were in two different worlds, and precise control was impossible.
However, after possessing Zhao Mingyue, the situation was completely different.
Once her tentacles reached behind the Ghost Gate, they didn’t disappear or lose control; they actually strengthened.
Bai Yu could clearly feel the power of the tentacles multiplying, almost doubling—this feeling was bizarre, like some kind of world-enhanced capability, as if she were a fish swimming in water.
It was probably similar to how Evil Gods can’t unleash their full power in the real world.
The tentacles wrapped around the hesitant Evil God behind the Ghost Gate, dragging it out directly.
For this Evil God, transitioning from the world beyond the Ghost Gate to the real world was necessary.
But the risks were so high—especially since it hadn’t found an embryo yet.
Without an embryo, it would be severely restricted, and this state was torturous. Unless it could find an embryo body, but good embryo bodies weren’t just lying around.
At that moment, she sensed something through the Ghost Gate.
The ultimate, perfect embryo body she needed was right outside the door, and there were even two!
The Evil God saw that the embryo bodies were Zhao Mingyue and the Dragon Lady.
Just as she was about to emerge, Bai Yu’s tentacles wrapped around her body.
Everyone outside the Ghost Gate was dumbfounded.
Knowing full well an Evil God was about to come out, they still watched in shock as their fearless leader dragged it out almost begrudgingly.
It was like dragging a dead dog; this Evil God visibly weakened once it made contact with the outside world.
People hadn’t even figured out what type of power or curse this Evil God had before Bai Yu wrapped it in her bl**d Threads and tentacles completely.
The Evil God had no physical form, making it nearly immune to physical attacks.
So Bai Yu skipped that entirely and went straight for the swallow.
Of course, she first had to use her curse power to dissolve the creature’s body, making it easier to absorb. It was a lot like the times she devoured those Red-clothed Evil Ghosts—no matter how much the opponent struggled, it was a battle of who had a stronger body.
“I’m here to help you!” The Thousand Eyes Godmother stepped forward, helping Bai Yu prevent the Evil God from escaping while simultaneously weakening its power.
Bai Yu intentionally left a small opening for the Evil God to struggle. Any struggling would mean that body would be devoured by Thousand Eyes.
The Evil God had some strength and couldn’t be easily swallowed just because she wanted to; after weakening it, Thousand Eyes helped devour almost twenty percent of its power, saving Bai Yu quite a bit of effort.
With the two Evil Gods working together, the Evil Spirit dragged out from the Ghost Gate could only flail around and scream in a fit of helpless rage.
Meanwhile, the members of the Gatekeepers exchanged glances, their earlier relaxed demeanor tense once more, beads of cold sweat forming on their foreheads.
Though they had already witnessed Bai Yu’s power, seeing the situation unfold now truly made them think “madwoman” in disbelief.
Zhou Shan was in this state, so normally, summoning a terrifying Evil God would lead to a grand battle, and he’d end up getting slashed—but how was it that this guy got dragged out by that killing god?
They could all hear the mournful howls of the Evil God.
It was an extraordinarily sad scene; this once-mighty Evil God was now begging for mercy.
What was Zhou Shan even thinking now?
The Evil God he had summoned was meant to be a powerhouse, yet it was getting crushed so badly that its cries for mercy had become significantly quieter—looks like it was on the verge of d*ath.
After all, the Black Sun God was also an Evil God; they were all Evil Gods, and the one summoned was likely a rival to the Black Sun God.
There was indeed a difference between Evil Gods; the disparity was just too great.
Someone turned to look at Zhou Shan, realizing that the old man hadn’t died. His body seemed to have a connection with this Evil God.
He was already bleeding profusely, and now with the summoned Evil God being a dud, his expression was one of utter defeat, like a man who had been crushed by despair, almost looking pitiful.
For Zhou Shan, this was indeed hopeless.
This Evil God had been part of his life for many years. He always believed in its immense power, considering it a top-tier being among Evil Gods.
At the same time, he loathed it, for this being had personally killed his wife and daughter.
Yet in the end, he had exchanged everything for a proclamation that the ritual had failed.
And now, as he faced his demise, the outcome was eerily similar.
