Chapter 359: The Family of Three
Zhao Mingyue slept like a log for an entire day and night before finally waking up. During her slumber, Bai Yu had the Dragon Lady keep an eye on her while she completed a simple redemption task.
Now, there was just one last task left to reach the number she had guessed. Whether completing it would allow her to wrap up her duties as a redemption executor was still uncertain. If not, she’d keep at it until it was done. That “Evil God’s Eyes” as a reward? That was non-negotiable.
Sitting up in bed, Zhao Mingyue looked like a patient fresh out of a medical drama, with a pale complexion and a general aura of exhaustion.
In her hands was a small bowl of chicken soup, made with love by Bai Yu. Zhao Mingyue was so touched she felt like crying. Oh, her dear Bai Yu really cared for her!
“Don’t rush, take your time drinking,” the Dragon Lady said, sitting by the bed, unsure of what to say. Zhao Mingyue’s condition after sleeping for a day was hardly worrisome. But who could blame Bai Yu for being so sweet? This treatment was enviably awesome.
On the bedside table, alongside the chicken soup, were some snacks Bai Yu had whipped up after learning from Zhao Mingyue’s phone videos. They turned out quite delicious!
“How’s your body feeling?” Bai Yu asked, her expression as blank as a whiteboard.
“It’s fine, really. No big deal. Just, um, I had this dream about a little girl. White hair, red eyes. Exactly like the one from my phone’s wallpaper. Then she said she was the Dark Moon God.”
Under Bai Yu and the Dragon Lady’s curious gazes, Zhao Mingyue recounted her dream.
There wasn’t much to it, honestly. The Dark Moon God had only popped up once, and the rest of the dream was just her being lonely. Even Li Xuener couldn’t hear her voice, and she had no clue why.
In the past, she at least had a vague voice lingering in her mind to keep her company. This time? Nothing but crickets. Boring to the max!
“I don’t know what that entity meant, talking to itself. It seemed pretty normal to me, like in those TV dramas where the big bad guy sends a challenge to the hero. It must’ve seen me, realized I wasn’t Bai Yu, and then just left.”
Zhao Mingyue set her empty bowl aside and popped a snack into her mouth, savoring it with an expression of bliss.
She couldn’t help but marvel at her quick reflexes; otherwise, Bai Yu, with her full-fledged wife attributes and adorableness, would’ve been irresistible to everyone out there, guys and gals alike!
Bai Yu was lost in thought, frowning as she pondered.
What did the Dark Moon God’s words really mean?
The Dragon Lady was equally deep in thought. Unfortunately, the intel was scant; all they could deduce was that the Dark Moon God’s target was Bai Yu and that it had wanted to take her out for a while.

At her words, Bai Yu looked up, “Go on.”
Zhao Mingyue wasn’t dumb. Sure, she sometimes seemed a bit slow, but when push came to shove, her ideas often had solid merit.
“I’m going to wait for you two. Then, I’ll use her body to chop that guy into bits and eat him right in front of her! Let her know she made a terrible choice!”
“That’s a direct quote from the Dark Moon God: ‘Let her know her choice was wrong.’ I think that’s key. The ‘her’ definitely isn’t Bai Yu. I don’t even think it’s anyone else—it’s our little sister Sisi!”
“Based on this, reverse engineering leads me to believe there’s a connection between the Dark Moon God and Sisi. I’m talking a symbiotic relationship here. Sisi’s will has been stalling the Dark Moon God. As long as she hasn’t given up, the Dark Moon God will struggle to achieve her goals.”
“To avoid a stalemate, the Dark Moon God would establish a wager with Bai Sisi. If she wins, Sisi can no longer interfere. Or maybe the Dark Moon God wants to provoke Bai Sisi into revealing a weakness for a sneak attack.”
“What I can’t wrap my head around is where Bai Sisi gets the power to influence the Dark Moon God.”
Once Zhao Mingyue dropped this bomb, the Dragon Lady and Bai Yu exchanged glances.
“Yeah, Bai Yu, where does she get the power to challenge the Dark Moon God?”
Their thoughts aligned.

The Dark Moon God wasn’t stupid—why risk severe injury just from hopping through universes when she could find an easier one to nourish herself? Coming here only raised the chance of being targeted by the sc*m Game, a risky gamble.
From her tone, it seemed like the Dark Moon God and Bai Sisi had been at it for some time. Wouldn’t she have invented a Bai Sisi in her own mind?
Bai Yu understood Bai Sisi’s situation better than anyone.
Bai Yu remained silent, which felt like good news to her.

Seeing Bai Yu lost in thought, Zhao Mingyue assumed she’d misspoken. The Dragon Lady patted her shoulder, shaking her head gently, slipping another snack into Zhao Mingyue’s hand to keep her quiet.
Time passed quietly, as if nothing had happened at all.
Bai Yu completed her final redemption task, just as she’d anticipated.
