Chapter 363: Final Battle (Part 2)
The oppressive aura brought by the Dark Moon God far exceeded that of the Nightmare. While both their presences felt eerily similar, in Bai Yu’s eyes, they were worlds apart. When it came to strength and presence, the Nightmare was no more than a clumsy imitator.
Bai Yu gripped her blade tightly, her expression unchanged.
This was a scene she had grown accustomed to during her time in the sc*m Game, often using her top-ranking privileges to simulate battles against the Dark Moon God with the war simulator.
Right now, what unfolded before her was nothing short of a carbon copy of those simulations.
The only difference was that the Dark Moon God was at full power back then, while now, they were without their original form and suffering injuries from being attacked by other gods.
Considering that she wasn’t at full strength either, it more or less amounted to a showdown at full power against the Dark Moon God.
Bai Yu had not anticipated this day would come so soon, let alone face it in this world. To her, it was good news; she wasn’t keen on leaving, and being able to have a family reunion here was a nice resolution.
At least her years of fighting had not been in vain; effort met reward.
The Dark Moon God appeared in mid-air, hands behind their back, taking little steps towards Bai Yu, closing the distance of about fifty meters in the blink of an eye.
Visibility in the surroundings significantly increased; this was the realm of the Dark Moon God.
Without even looking up, Bai Yu knew the moon in the sky had turned bl**d red. This was a comprehensive boost for the Dark Moon God. When that bl**d-red shade enveloped the moon of a world, it meant that world was teetering on the brink of collapse.
Bai Yu gazed up at the Dark Moon God, locking eyes with them. The Dark Moon God sneered, “I should have guessed it was you, but I never thought an ant like you would stand before me one day.”
“That’s not important. I offer you two choices: you can either end it yourself, letting the one up there go free, or you both can d*e here together.”
The Dark Moon God exuded arrogance, lacking the somber aura common among most gods. Perhaps it was due to her age; if measured in human years, she’d be barely a teenager—a little brat, fearless and adored by intelligent beings across various worlds, making her arrogance wholly justifiable.
“This body of mine is your sister’s, but I don’t care for her at all. I chose her merely for her utility, intending to turn her into my puppet. Had it not been for those few beasts sabotaging me, you sisters would be kneeling in praise of my name.”
“Why would I, a grand deity, need to gamble with an ant?”
Looking down at Bai Yu, the Dark Moon God’s eyes shimmered with a cerulean light.
Controlling the body of Bai Sisi, she raised a hand, and a massive crescent moon appeared overhead. With a mocking smile, the Dark Moon God hurled it down.
Just a moment ago, they were discussing Bai Yu’s choices, and now—splat!
The cerulean crescent rapidly expanded in mid-air, growing from under a meter to over a hundred meters in less than half a second.
Bai Yu’s vision instantly turned white. The good news? She was prepared in advance, and Zhao Mingyue was assisting her.
Zhao Mingyue could currently do two things: control the world’s will to repel the Dark Moon God, weakening their power, and enhance Bai Yu’s strength.
While weakening the enemy, she strengthened herself, boosting Bai Yu tremendously under this dual intensification.
The bl**d threads encasing her shattered, and Bai Yu soared into the sky.
Beneath her, there was a gigantic crater over twenty kilometers wide, as if struck by a meteorite. The destruction here transcended mere ‘supermodel’ proportions.
Even the mightiest of ghosts couldn’t reach this level, and this was just the Dark Moon God’s casually thrown “big move.”
Of course, this also related to how weak the world of ghosts was in the first place. Had the Dark Moon God faced them in full power, the entire world would collapse in this battle.
“You were a slave before, and you still are!” The Dark Moon God noticed Bai Yu charging toward her and, with both hands, yanked downwards, the moonlight transforming into a massive fishing net that covered Bai Yu from all angles, making escape impossible.
Following that, the Dark Moon God retracted her hand and extended a finger, gathering a large amount of moonlight into a whirlpool that shot toward Bai Yu, transforming into a ten-meter-diameter black hole of moonlight.
This perfectly anticipated Bai Yu’s move as she sliced through the net, generating two slashes. However, these slashes lacked the former clarity, flying at a slow velocity, barely more than fleeting black rifts that appeared before the Dark Moon God.
With Night Bright’s boost, Bai Yu’s combat prowess soared.
The slashes were absorbed by the black hole, which ceased spinning and exploded like fireworks, unleashing countless sharp moonlight arrows like a torrential downpour. To make matters worse, millions of these arrows were equipped with tracking capabilities, converging mid-air before raining down en masse.
With a swift motion, Bai Yu slashed, deep purple light flickering in her sight. The arrows’ speed decelerated tenfold. bl**d thread steps appeared beneath her, propelling her upward. Mid-air, she adjusted her position and brandished her long blade, producing a fierce wail as she burst through the moonlight surrounding the Dark Moon God, seeming to slice through layers of space—truly a sight to behold.
In the mirror-like shattering of space, black cracks emerged around the Dark Moon God’s head. Her form shattered in an instant, and her true body appeared directly above Bai Yu.
Moonlight energy manifested as a towering figure ten meters tall from Bai Sisi’s body—six arms and eight wings, resembling a woman, but with a horrifying head.
Even more terrifying, that phantom head cracked open, expelling a crystal-clear diamond, looking a bit like a particularly gruesome spit.
The issue? This diamond radiated a ghastly glow and heat, flickering as it slowly descended, now hovering directly above Bai Yu’s head.
Forget Bai Yu—Zhao Mingyue, watching from above, held her breath too. This strike’s power was at least five times greater than the last colossal crescent moon; the kicker was this was concentrated, meaning its single-target damage was horrifying.
Ding!
The diamond exploded like a collapsing sun, and Bai Yu was instantly consumed by a blinding daylight of moonlight.
The already vast crater deepened by dozens of meters as the Dark Moon God’s destructive ability hit max power.
Assimilation and destruction—while the former lacked the visual shock of the latter, its power was exponentially greater. In the blink of an eye, the world became speckled traces of moonlight, as if a god had used a magical eraser to wipe away this piece of landscape.
Rather than moonlight, the Dark Moon God’s capability resembled “annihilation.”
After the blinding white light from the diamond bombarded away, Bai Yu appeared behind the Dark Moon God, back turned.
She had perished to this move at least three times. This move wasn’t exactly instantaneous, but therein lay its horror—the normally non-charging Dark Moon God had actually charged this one. The damage radius it brought was nearly impossible to avoid; rather than running, it was better to figure out how to endure it.
After dying three times, she found a way to cope, and it was simple—stay behind the Dark Moon God.
The attacks cast by the Dark Moon God wouldn’t affect her directly; thanks to the “absorption” trait, the moment the moonlight touched her, it would be passively absorbed. Thus, the space behind the Dark Moon God became the safest zone.
Night Bright inherently had a certain time rule, just enough to dodge the big moves.
The Dark Moon God’s phantom didn’t turn back; instead, hundreds of spikes shot out from behind her toward Bai Yu.
Bai Yu remained unmoving, this back-to-back stance solidified. She too had a large mass of bl**d threads striking out, perfectly offsetting the Dark Moon God’s power.
In that moment, they both spun to face each other. The moment the moonlight cross longsword and Night Bright’s blade met, the result was inevitable—the longsword shattered, while Night Bright cleaved through the Dark Moon God’s projection.
Lifting her long blade upwards, dozens of massive slashes appeared, piercing the Dark Moon God’s illusion at all its vital points and joints. Time seemed to freeze as the slashes exploded, sending the Dark Moon God flying back. Her illusion shattered, and even her true body bore several injuries.
Wiping the bl**d from her neck, the Dark Moon God finally took notice of the sword in Bai Yu’s hand.
Something felt off about that sword.
This was the first time since her existence began from nothing that she encountered something she couldn’t assimilate.
“Is that a blessing from that guy?” the Dark Moon God’s expression darkened.
Bai Yu wouldn’t reveal the answer; she readied her blade for another attack.
Night Bright was her only chance of victory; she needed to slay the Dark Moon God before Night Bright’s durability ran out.
“sc*m! I’ve already erased every trace of her existence!” The Dark Moon God flung compressed moonlight from her form, each clump being highly condensed moonlight power.
Bai Yu moved with incredible speed; none of the moonlight mist clumps landed on her, and even those that did were neutralized by the bl**d threads.
She was completely disregarding her resources, deploying the bl**d threads. If defeating the Nightmare hinged on understanding the Dark Moon God’s moves while the Nightmare was unaware—creating an information gap—defeating the Dark Moon God relied on the fact that she wasn’t willing to lower herself to observe those evil spirits.
She had no idea what bl**d threads meant for evil spirits; all she recognized was that her moonlight was being targeted.
Moreover, the Dark Moon God’s combat experience wasn’t particularly impressive.
Since her inception, she’d mostly sailed through life; her overwhelming power meant she rarely encountered any adversaries that could match her evenly.
For instance, just now, several trails of moonlight formed gears rotating around her body—a far more challenging defense than the Nightmare’s protective armor—and they boasted considerable offensive capability.
Understanding that Bai Yu exchanged bl**d threads one-to-one with her moonlight, she opted for gears within gears, doubting she would dare to engage still.
As it turned out, Bai Yu really did dare.
Without even utilizing Night Bright, she gave the Dark Moon God the illusion that she successfully shattered her gear defense despite losing her left arm, only managing to chop off the Dark Moon God’s right arm in the process.
Yet another exchange—one left arm for one right arm.
The Dark Moon God was taken aback, quickly distancing herself.
“Have you gone mad? This body belongs to your sister; if you k*ll me, this body won’t d*e, but she will surely perish!”
To be frank, the Dark Moon God didn’t think Bai Yu would ever strike at her sister’s body while her defense was broken. In fact, she had already envisioned a way to wield Bai Sisi’s body to make Bai Yu hesitate and then launch a fatal blow.
However, upon crying out “Sister,” Bai Yu didn’t even respond—she just went straight for her head.
Behind Bai Yu, black angelic wings flapped lightly. This wasn’t the key to her ascent but the greatest utility was to absorb the Dark Moon God’s attacks.
Zhao Mingyue was truly pulling weight with this one.
Bai Yu could tell that Zhao Mingyue was staving off the Dark Moon God’s absorption abilities, ensuring they couldn’t function throughout the clashing.
This was crucial; if the Dark Moon God’s absorption wasn’t contained, Bai Yu’s one-for-one exchange with moonlight would be in vain. The bl**d threads she lost would eventually return to the Dark Moon God as nourishment—five of her wouldn’t be enough for what the Dark Moon God could consume.
Clearly, the Dark Moon God was aware of this but felt powerless; with Bai Yu in the way, she couldn’t go after Zhao Mingyue.
Falling back, the Dark Moon God once again materialized her original form and began summoning some ghosts and evil gods from this world. As long as they existed, whether they attacked Bai Yu or stood still mattered not, as long as they could restore her strength.
Continuing like this, even if she smashed Bai Yu to bits, her anguish would be tremendous. All the time spent recovering would have been for naught; she couldn’t wait to find those bastards and exact her revenge.
The battle dragged on, almost turning into a war of attrition.
With Night Bright by her side, Bai Yu stood tall against the weakened Dark Moon God. Now it simply boiled down to who could last longer.
Bai Yu certainly didn’t have the same resource pool as the Dark Moon God. Her bl**d threads couldn’t be compared to the moonlight. The good news was that Zhao Mingyue was becoming increasingly accustomed to the world’s power, starting to learn how to manipulate basic rules to assist Bai Yu.
This included summoning dark fog to obscure the bl**d moon and creating a whirlwind of shattered stones and bricks to defend Bai Yu. Increasing the gravity and air resistance around the Dark Moon God limited her movement, and occasionally, Zhao Mingyue could even summon a lightning bolt to strike the Dark Moon God. Even if the damage was minimal, it was quite effective at disrupting her position.
In short, under Zhao Mingyue’s control, the entire world stood against the Dark Moon God.
