### Chapter 44: Become My One and Only!
The aura of this young girl was all too familiar to Bai Yu. She could bet one hundred percent that this was the same girl who saved Lu Liangting last night, though she couldn’t be sure if this girl was actually a participant in the game.
Those lunatics could do anything! Take Lu Liangting’s cousin, for example. She knew everyone was hidden in the dark, yet she still went up to him, guns blazing.
For now, it was safe to say this girl was very likely a participant in the game.
“So you mean, the ghost on Li Nan’s back was taken out by her?” Zhao Mingyue’s eyes widened after hearing Bai Yu’s brief description.
You know what they say—comparison kills! Just a minute ago, that quirky girl looked to be about the same age as her, and yet here she was, taking out an evil ghost all by herself.
Meanwhile, Zhao Mingyue wasn’t even in a position to deal with a ghost. If she could just avoid being ghost bait, she’d be thanking her lucky stars!
Honestly, she didn’t need to be a ghost-slaying warrior—just slightly stronger would do.
Yeah, just a little stronger.
“Don’t envy her. Your situations are different.”
“Right, mine is totally different. Clearly, that ghost on Li Nan’s back is just too weak,” Zhao Mingyue mused, propping her chin thoughtfully.
That little intermission aside, Zhao Mingyue didn’t dwell on Chen Yun’s provocation, nor did she envy Chen Yun’s strength.
Instead, she was much more curious about the girl standing at the classroom door, clutching a red envelope and looking like she could eat Lu Liangting for breakfast.
Delivering a love letter to a guy? The content basically suggesting he come over and “enjoy” her body? Even among these lunatics, that was a bit hard to swallow.
If she had to choose, she’d prefer to be the one making the move, rather than being the one treated like a piece of meat.
The kicker? The one trying to serve her up on a platter was someone she chose herself. Talk about twisted!
After some chatter from the rabbit-masked figure, the gang in the alley figured it made sense to take action. After all, if failing the task meant certain doom, they might as well be proactive. The low-ranking riff-raff like them had no shot against the top monsters without taking the offensive.
But truth be told, they might have misunderstood the rabbit-masked figure just a smidge.
The school bell rang right on time. The black-haired girl shouted into the classroom before the teacher even had a chance to exit.
“Lu Liangting, you son of a… cough, I have a love letter for you! Hurry and come get it, or else, um, just hurry up!”
The teacher, caught off guard while trying to drag out the lesson, froze with chalk in hand, and all the students turned to look at the girl at the door.
She looked pretty cute, typical in a way—aside from the slightly messy hair, nothing seemed too off about her. Of course, that was if you ignored her earlier proclamation.
Whether Chen Yun was a player in the game, Bai Yu couldn’t say for sure, but she was positive that the idiot at the door definitely was.
Sometimes, some game participants were real easy to identify.
What seemed perfectly normal to them came off as awkwardly nutty to others.
And the best part? There were more of these types running around!
Just after the black-haired girl finished her line, another girl appeared, hands in her pockets and clearly holding something. Upon spotting the black-haired girl, she furrowed her brow, and the two eyed each other in silence before turning to march down the hallway with dark and brooding faces.
Within moments, you could hear the unmistakable sounds of a fight brewing.
At the teacher’s desk, the teacher set down the chalk. “We’ll discuss that question later. Lu Liangting, go check outside. But just a heads up, it’s more important to focus on studies at your age.”
With all eyes on him and a sea of weird looks, Lu Liangting reluctantly stood up and headed for the exit.
He swore to the heavens, he didn’t know that girl at all!
With Zhao Mingyue guiding him, he made his way to the rooftop.
By the time he arrived, the two girls had vanished without a trace. Where they went in so little time? Who knows!
Just as he was about to take a step, his pace suddenly faltered when he felt someone wrap their arms around him gently from behind. The body was soft, and judging by the hair fragrance wafting past his nose, it was definitely a girl.
A strand of hair fell softly to the side of his face, and a pair of sweet lips whispered in his ear, sending a tingle down to his earlobe.
“I’ve liked you for a long time. Will you let me be your one and only?”
Turns out, some people were on a whole different level.
But the price of getting close to her would be something Lu Liangting wouldn’t be able to bear.
Being one’s only wasn’t just some sweet nothings; she meant every word.
She’d eliminate anyone who dared to get close to Lu Liangting—her world would only ever have room for her.

“Why does today feel so weird?”
That night, Zhao Mingyue sat in the convenience store, mulling over the day’s oddities.
After Lu Liangting returned from the rooftop, he looked pretty grim. Some folks noticed a lip print on his neck and others casually stole glances to see the love letter he’d brought back, filled with a single line.
“Become my lover.”
Now, this line didn’t seem too scary on its own. But when you packed it across half an A4 sheet in red ink, filled to the brim with repetition, it got a tad creepy.
“Don’t worry about it too much.” Bai Yu’s voice remained steady.
“Alright, I won’t overthink it.” Responding, Zhao Mingyue pulled out her homework.
The convenience store was in the middle of nowhere. Sometimes, it’d go the whole night without a single customer. She often wondered why the boss even bothered opening it here.
However, today felt different.
After finishing her task, it was nearly ten at night. In half an hour, she’d be able to clock out early.
Stretching and glancing at the ticking clock behind her, she felt a wave of boredom wash over her.
Resting her chin on her palm, she watched the wind chime at the door, which had been eerily still.
This thing seemed to detect ghosts. In her memory, it had hardly ever moved, enough to make it creepy, like hanging a bagua mirror at home. You might not have cares until you catch sight of it, then you can’t stop mentally signaling yourself.
“Is that fog?”
Her gaze drifted outside to the empty road, where a thin mist wafted through.
Just as Zhao Mingyue was getting puzzled, someone pushed the door of the convenience store open.
The copper bell jingled to announce a visitor.
But as the door closed behind the guest entering the store, the previously motionless wind chime suddenly began to sway slightly, producing two crisp sounds.
“Is there, is there anyone here?”
