Becoming a Fierce Ghost, I Turned into the Shadow Behind the Heroine – Chapter 46

Chapter 46: Sister Yu, You’re So Soft and Fragrant

What’s the deal with that convenience store? What happened between that boy and Dongcheng No. 13 Middle School? Is that thing chasing him one of the evil ghosts lurking in the school? After he dashed out of the convenience store, where did he scamper off to?

These questions won’t have answers anytime soon, but they certainly piqued Zhao Mingyue’s curiosity.

The next mission location is Dongcheng No. 13 Middle School, a place she knows very little about and hasn’t yet investigated. However, that boy did spill some beans.

First off, the ghost chasing him is right there in the school! This ghost may have a grudge against the principal and not only wants to take the principal out but also wipe out all the students in his class. But for some reason, this ghost ended up dead as well. Otherwise, why would it have turned into a ghost in the first place?

Dongcheng No. 13 Middle School is interestingly stuck in the middle of being a middle school and an elementary school.

But regardless of whether it caters to kids in primary or secondary, it’s still a bunch of children! That ghost actually laid its hands on those kids? That’s a one-way ticket to hell!

Back at home, Zhao Mingyue was in the bathroom, pouring out her thoughts to Bai Yu.

“Yu Sis, when you find that ghost, make sure to beat it to d*ath. How utterly despicable!”

As she spoke, she scrubbed the bath towel with a bit too much vigor; after all, Bai Yu was a ghost. If it were a regular person, they’d probably end up losing half their skin!

The steam swirled in the bathroom, and aside from Zhao Mingyue’s chatter, all that could be heard was the sound of the shower spraying water. Bai Yu sat on a tiny plastic stool, wrapped in a bath towel, letting the water cascade over her head, flowing down her skin.

Zhao Mingyue had bent down behind her, bare-skinned, scrubbing her back.

She felt a twinge of regret – maybe she shouldn’t have tricked Zhao Mingyue into believing that taking a hot shower was warm and cozy. If she hadn’t mentioned it, Zhao Mingyue wouldn’t drag her into the bathroom so often.

“Forget it, let’s not get into that. We’ll talk about it later when we’re at school.”

“By the way, Yu Sis, your skin is so enviable!” Zhao Mingyue gasped as her fingers glided over Bai Yu’s smooth back. The sensation was truly something else.

Unlike normal ghosts that you can’t touch, Bai Yu was solid and tangible; her touch was wonderfully clear.

Soft and delicate, with just a bit of pressure, you could feel her body’s softness and elasticity. Though there was no warmth like a living person, that cold sensation was equally delightful, especially in summer.

Her chill wasn’t that of ice water’s shocking jolt; it was gentle, slowly seeping into your body. If you touched her for too long, it could indeed feel like your soul was freezing, but before that, the sensation could only be described as pure “enjoyment.”

To make an inappropriate analogy, it was like handling a supremely soft jade, sliding and silky, yet that icy softness was truly addictive.

And this was merely the sensation of skin.

After finishing washing Bai Yu’s back, Zhao Mingyue stood up, suddenly wrapping her arms around Bai Yu from behind, resting her head on her shoulder.

“So this is what they meant by a soft, boneless beauty in ancient sayings.”

Bai Yu didn’t reply; she sighed inwardly, feeling flustered by the incredible softness against her back. She silently vowed that from now on, there would be no more shared baths with Zhao Mingyue.

That girl’s hands were just a tad too unrestrained.

Once Zhao Mingyue hugged Bai Yu, she only said something casually; her hands didn’t wander at all.

She simply leaned against Bai Yu’s shoulder, half-closing her eyes.

As she soaked up Bai Yu’s cold aura, her own body heat was gradually dissipating. Luckily, she was still alive, or else she’d be six feet under once her heat ran out!

Previously, Bai Yu told her that soaking in warm water could relieve the cold. At that moment, she genuinely believed it! But looking back, things probably weren’t that simple.

Considering the odds of warm water having such an effect on ghosts aside, the sensation of wrapping her arms around Bai Yu definitely wasn’t that straightforward.

If baths wouldn’t work, it wasn’t like there weren’t other ways.

Like right now, she could use her own body heat to provide Bai Yu with a little warmth.

The breath of the living was quite beneficial for ghosts, at least it could help them find a glimmer of warmth in the cold.

But she would never reveal this little tidbit to Bai Yu.

She could already picture the scene if she told Bai Yu. Bai Yu would scowl and give her a serious look, saying something like, “No way! Don’t do that again!”

“Yu Sis, let’s sleep together tonight!”

“No way.”

“I knew it.”

As dawn broke, Zhao Mingyue rose for class as usual.

Her outfit was clean but not particularly sophisticated, with her shoulder-length hair casually tied into a ponytail. Still, she exuded a vibrant youthful energy that made heads turn, triggering a wave of nostalgia for simpler times.

Most people wouldn’t notice, but there was a slight discrepancy between her shadow and her real self.

With a simple ponytail and pleated skirt, her shadow appeared as a delicate girl in a long dress with a side ponytail, looking frail.

A red ribbon, side ponytail, white hairpin, long earrings, a white dress, and short boots.

That was Bai Yu’s outfit for today. It’s pretty obvious who had a hand in that!

Entering the classroom, Zhao Mingyue felt an odd atmosphere; everyone seemed to be turning to look at something.

Once she stepped into the room, she understood why things felt so weird.

The unfortunate soul was none other than Lu Liangting.

His desk was covered in red paint heart doodles, but more importantly, a long-handled fruit kn*fe had been stabbed into his desk, with a plastic bag hanging from it, containing who-knows-what!

As she passed by him, Zhao Mingyue noticed a label on the bag that read, “This is your breakfast.”

At a glance, it looked like someone doodled hearts on Lu Liangting’s desk and then, realizing they had nowhere to put breakfast, just decided to use the kn*fe to pin it down.

Zhao Mingyue cleared her throat and quietly returned to her seat.

“This girl’s way of expressing affection is a bit terrifying…”

“Perfectly normal. If you knew these people, you’d realize this is a pretty mild way of showing affection,” Bai Yu chimed in.

“Yikes, that’s scary.”

Lu Liangting scrubbed away at his desk for a long time; thankfully, it was just paint.

As for the breakfast, who knows why, but he didn’t even have the courage to open it.

“Once I deal with this whole Dongcheng No. 13 debacle, I’ll have a nice chat with this girl. Just… this handwriting…”

Suddenly, Lu Liangting recalled the love letter from yesterday. Comparing it to the note on the breakfast, he began to suspect something was off.

What the heck?! The girl from yesterday and the one who left this? They don’t even seem like the same person!

I had originally planned to repay the big shots’ grants today, but I guess I’m just too weak (mainly because it’s New Year and I literally have no time to write).

Here’s the deal: every 2500 rewards, including those from the great Green-Duan, will add a chapter. Can’t let the big shots’ generosity go to waste!

That means I owe eleven chapters now.

I will definitely pay these back, most likely after the 25th and once everything’s up and running.

Currently, I’m on a schedule of two chapters a day; three updates will cover one chapter, and four will cover two, and so on.

Also, wishing everyone a Happy New Year!
