“How did you find out?” Shen Shuyun tensed, slowly backing away to hide behind the principal’s desk.
“That’s none of your business. Just know that your presence here isn’t a coincidence. I received a mission to help you recover your memory, that’s all.”
Bai Yu stood at the door, her feeble frame casting a shadow that felt as menacing as a red-clothed ghost.
Her instincts told her that this “old friend” in front of her—the evil spirit—could crush her effortlessly, and it wasn’t just the pressure of the ghostly identity that unnerved her.

“Nightmare is out of the question. That guy would never talk like you—he always sounds like a creepy hen just clucking away.”
Before she could finish, Bai Yu interrupted, “Does my identity really matter? I’m just on a mission. Your life or d*ath is tied to my success, and for now, I won’t k*ll you. But once you learn who I really am, you’d better believe I’ll take you out when the mission’s over.”
Shen Shuyun’s expression shifted slightly. This made sense; if Bai Yu was telling the truth, not knowing her identity was better than knowing it.
Before identities were revealed, everyone was on even ground, just like how she could chat casually in an alley with other players.
But once identities were revealed? It would become a fight to the d*ath.
“You have two choices: I can break your limbs, slice through your tendons before helping you regain your memory, or you can cooperate.”

She didn’t mention what would happen after their deal was done, as that would be foolish.
Once the job was done, there wouldn’t be a second thought—the first thing Bai Yu would do is take her out.
Better to stick around for now than end up dead, and then find an opportunity to bail with Lu Liangting.

“Those ghosts weren’t from this school; I brought them here. To be accurate, my previous self brought them. They aren’t students here; they’re the parents of students.”
“Parents?” Zhao Mingyue, standing next to Bai Yu, looked puzzled.

“And this place used to be an orphanage, specifically for taking in children.”

“You’re saying the Old Principal? He wasn’t a good person? Why would he k*ll people and still adopt kids?” Zhao Mingyue was baffled; she couldn’t understand how someone could be a cannibalistic monster.
