### Chapter Sixty-Five: Chen Yun: ??
“I’m leaving. I have some questions for you.” Bai Yu stepped out and glanced back.
Lu Liangting thought she was talking about him, but then he saw Shen Shuyun getting up from the ground and following her, wearing a strange smile. She turned her head to sh**t him a sideways glance, her right index finger pressed to her lips, whispering softly.
“Don’t follow us. This is between us girls. If you have questions, you can find me at my place after we’re out. You know the address. I’ll fill you in on the details then.”
“Of course, first, I need to survive the day.”
She had already answered her own question in her heart, but before that, she had done something risky—she had revealed her identity as a doctor.
Afterwards, the doctor would probably k*ll her to silence any loose ends, but that no longer mattered.
In fact, if she were actually killed, she would thank the doctor. Without her help, she wouldn’t stand a chance against Zhang Dahai.
When the roles switched between prey and predator, she knew who would be the one in trouble.
d*ath wasn’t terrifying, but it came in different flavors.
Being killed by a doctor and being humiliated by Zhang Dahai before d*ath? She preferred the former.
Noticing Shen Shuyun’s gaze, Lu Liangting chose silence and watched her walk away with Bai Yu.
Maybe it was just his imagination, but he thought Shen Shuyun seemed like a different person in just that short amount of time. The change was so profound, and he couldn’t quite pin down whether it was for better or worse.
“If I go to her place, I might end up dead,” he said, leaning against the door frame, bitterly shaking his head.
He pulled out a pen and a red hairpin, placing them in the palm of his hand.
“She has too many secrets, far more complex than I ever imagined. She shouldn’t have died in Sunshine Apartment; she probably sensed the female ghost on the fifth floor and showed up worried it would harm someone.”
“That explains why she saved me over and over, and why she always fights the fifth-floor ghost whenever she shows up.”
“Honestly, I want to help her. I was thinking, since she’s in Sunshine Apartment, I should at least find her remains and give her a proper burial to help her let go of her grudges.”
“Now I don’t have a single clue. I don’t know anything about her secrets, I don’t know her past, and I don’t even know her name.”
“But that’s okay. There will definitely be more opportunities in the future. Plus, she talked to me first; that’s a good start. At the very least, I must’ve made some impression on her.”
“If all else fails, I should just ask Shen Shuyun.”
Lu Liangting had made a tremendous resolution.
He knew what kind of darkness lay beneath Shen Shuyun’s sweet exterior. If he went over there, he’d either end up getting forcibly dragged in or killed.
If he really did go, he’d just stand awkwardly in the living room, avoiding eating or drinking anything, and asking his questions before scrambling to leave.
The pen and hairpin in his hand remained still, as if he was intentionally avoiding the topic.
He didn’t even notice he was mumbling to himself.
“Oh right, she asked me about the talismans, and I didn’t finish.”
“Chen Yun isn’t much of a talker, but she’s a good person. It’s just a shame that one’s a human and the other’s a ghost. And it seems Chen Yun knows some ghost-catching techniques, so she’s not exactly friendly to spirits.”
“I told Chen Yun I’d be here. I wonder if she’ll come along. I hope not; at least let’s avoid any conflicts.”

“I’ll k*ll you!”
On the third floor of the Youth Palace, Chen Yun was furious, harboring disdain for Zhao Mingyue deep in her heart.
However, she had lost to Zhao Mingyue time and again, in sports, academics, and even looks.
Aside from family background, she felt just a tad superior to Zhao Mingyue because she could access another world, while Zhao Mingyue trudged through life like a clueless little bug, working part-time just to get by, unaware of how small her world was compared to the vast, mysterious one outside.
Recently, she had learned from her sister that due to some fortuitous events, Zhao Mingyue had started venturing into that world too—alongside Lu Liangting.
But she wasn’t interested in comparing their statuses anymore. Her current goal was simple: to make Zhao Mingyue a part of that world and control it with her own hands.
Zhao Mingyue, blissfully ignorant of Chen Yun’s inner thoughts, assumed Chen Yun was angry because of her earlier slam.
Before she could finish her thought, she tossed out a talisman adorned with a bizarre eye symbol.
The talisman hovered in midair, and when Zhao Mingyue looked at it, her vision blurred, and her mind started to spin.
With soft cries of agony from the surrounding little ghosts, Chen Yun raised her hand, and from her wide sleeves emerged another talisman, which she pressed into her palm.
This one, however, bore no eye symbol and instead radiated strands of black fog.
A flash of malice sparkled in Chen Yun’s eyes as she slapped the talisman towards Zhao Mingyue’s stomach.
This talisman contained a remnant of an evil ghost. Being struck by it wouldn’t lead to immediate d*ath; instead, the victim would be plagued by lingering resentments.
What followed was a whirlwind of ailments, each day worse than the last until they ultimately met their demise in agony, and then transformed into a ghost, suffering endlessly due to that very remnant.
The method was simple; the outcome was brutal.
Ghosts are merely the extreme of humans. Just being near them can bring misfortune; imagine having the remnants of a ghost injected into your body.
Illnesses were just the tip of the iceberg; the most lethal aspect was the spiritual torment.
With that remnant inside, the victim would see an unreal “ghost” they could never shake off, haunting them day and night.
Just as the talisman was aimed, a pale and skinny little hand suddenly emerged and clutched Chen Yun’s wrist tightly, halting the talisman mid-air, regardless of how hard Chen Yun pulled, it wouldn’t budge even a millimeter closer to Zhao Mingyue.
The icy grip penetrated deep to the bone and seemed to pierce her very soul.
Instinctively, Chen Yun turned to see a girl, shorter than her, who had appeared and latched onto her wrist.
In that moment, seeing Bai Yu, Chen Yun didn’t recognize her as a ghost; she had never encountered a ghost so neat and pretty. It was the chilling energy radiating from her wrist that made her realize the truth.
Unfortunately, the other hand could not be lifted because Zhao Mingyue had just smashed it, and the last hand was firmly trapped, giving her the feeling of being clutched by a pair of ice-cold tongs.
She couldn’t believe it—this apparently frail ghost possessed such strength.
