Chapter Seventy-One: The White Silk Young Girl Bai Yu
With a flick of her fingertip, one side of the white dress strap was hooked, then it was gently pulled, sliding down the sickly pale shoulder. The other side followed suit, and once both straps had slipped off, the white dress gracefully fell to the ground.
Beneath that white dress, there were no undergarments—just layer upon layer of white bandages wrapped around a subtly budding chest and a slender waist that could be grasped with a single hand.
From the navel down to just above the abdomen, the bandages diverged to wrap around sleek, straight legs.
Compared to Zhao Mingyue, Bai Yu’s physique might seem “undeveloped,” but her legs could hold their own against Zhao Mingyue’s. They weren’t as long, but instead were perfectly straight and proportionate—any extra length would look a bit chubby, while any less would seem too thin.
Perfectly balanced, the proportions of her legs were practically flawless in relation to her whole body.
Her black, slightly curled hair cascaded down her back, giving off a lazy vibe.
Standing behind Bai Yu, Zhao Mingyue was mesmerized.
Even she couldn’t help but admire Bai Yu’s body—it was indeed perfect, save for a slight shortage up top.
But having a small size there was totally normal; as long as it had shape, it worked. With her already youthful appearance leaning towards a bit of a loli vibe, having anything too large would ruin that fresh beauty.
Of course, some people wouldn’t care at all about the proportions.
The bigger, the better, as they say!
Bai Yu glanced back, silent as a bemused goldfish.
Yep, she was dragged over by this rascal Zhao Mingyue for yet another bath.
In her words, “I’m going to cover up your skin color later, at least make you look like a living person. We can’t skip the bath!”
Trying to retort, Bai Yu found herself momentarily stumped for a comeback.
With a faint sigh in her heart, the bandages that served as her last line of defense morphed into countless tiny bl**d threads that merged with her skin.
A moment later…
“Hmm… let me think about where to start.”
At the vanity, Bai Yu sat quietly on a small stool after her bath, wearing the slightly too-small dress that Zhao Mingyue had dug out from her closet.
Bai Yu wasn’t incapable of wearing clothes; she just found them a bit uncomfortable. The real kicker was that once she put on clothes, she couldn’t hide in Zhao Mingyue’s shadow anymore or squeeze into the rabbit plush toy.
Hair accessories didn’t pose much of an issue, but big clothing items? No thanks.
The dress was a bit heavy, styled in a mix of Lolita and maid fashion, layered in white and light blue, with a lace hem that made it look adorably like something off a doll.
I have to admit, the design was quite cute! Just wish the fabric was better.
Upon seeing that outfit, Bai Yu was struck by the thought that with Zhao Mingyue’s personality, she shouldn’t have bought such a thing. But then it clicked—this was probably a matching outfit for her solid magic wand, picked up during some convention years back.
In other words, she was about to wear a COSPLAY costume!
Even someone like her, who didn’t care much about appearances, felt a strange twinge in her heart at the thought of strutting around in this outfit tomorrow.
Sure, there were other clothes, but they were too big for her; Zhao Mingyue’s wardrobe was clearly a size too generous.
“Just need to manage your hands and neck; we’ll deal with your face later,” Zhao Mingyue mumbled, plotting out her “makeover” for Bai Yu in her mind.
The dress had long sleeves; the cuffs were a bit wide, but with a bow ribbon tied around them, it’d be totally fine.
On her legs, Zhao Mingyue planned white lace short socks paired with little shoes. As the dress fell below the knee, it would only leave her calves exposed. But then again, forget that—she’d have to cover her legs too!
So, white stockings it was—less hassle, and no one would be the wiser once they were on.
Bai Yu had mentioned those black vein-like lines on her skin could be appropriately faded, so once lightened, the white silk would be no problem.
To double-check this, Zhao Mingyue had Bai Yu turn around and didn’t even wait for her input before scooping up Bai Yu’s little feet, now dressed in white stockings, like some oddball infatuated with loli children, studying them closely. She even gave a little squeeze, nodding thoughtfully.
If it weren’t for Bai Yu’s cough, Zhao Mingyue might not have noticed her smile was getting a bit too creepy—she was definitely channeling a wolf eying Little Red Riding Hood.
Looking up, she met Bai Yu’s gaze.
“Cough cough.” Bai Yu was blushing a little from being stared at so intensely. Zhao Mingyue, her face flushed, quickly dropped Bai Yu’s tiny feet. “I was just confirming that up close, nobody would spot any issues!”
Hearing this, Bai Yu squinted. “I feel like nobody wants to stare at my feet up close.”
“True enough,” Zhao Mingyue agreed.
An awkward silence fell between them as Zhao Mingyue turned Bai Yu back and began rummaging through her makeup drawer.
Just because she wasn’t a fan of makeup didn’t mean she didn’t own any. The main reason was that she was broke!
“These were given to me by a boy at school. Hmm… I still don’t know his name. He just dropped these off and ran away without saying a word,” Zhao Mingyue revealed as she pulled out a full set of cosmetics, laying each item out on the vanity.
Seeing the makeup set reminded her of that day— that boy was quite peculiar. No introduction, no class name, just poof!
However, among all the gifts she’d received, this set surely left the deepest impression.
First, she applied some flesh-toned color to Bai Yu’s wrists and hands; it still looked a bit pale, but at least it no longer carried that sickly white shade. Now it just appeared as if, wow, this girl had such lovely, fair skin!
“Let’s do your nails too. Do you like red?”
Looking at Bai Yu’s fingers, Zhao Mingyue noticed her nails were plain—definitely not what a proper evil ghost’s nails should look like! Every other ghost she knew had at least red nails!
After painting the nails red and color-correcting her neck and collarbone, it was time for the face makeup.
When it came to Bai Yu’s makeup, Zhao Mingyue was all in!
Bai Yu was already stunning—if her skills weren’t up to snuff, she might end up making Bai Yu look worse!
So, she kept things simple, making Bai Yu’s complexion less ghostly, adding eyeliner, rosy cheeks, and a soft pink lip.
“Eyes are a problem… who doesn’t have whites in their eyes?”
