Chapter 72: The Redemption Executor
Zhao Mingyue pondered over the question of the white eyes for a moment and pulled out a pair of sunglasses from the cabinet. Since there was no solution in sight, the best course of action was to just cover it up—if anyone asked, she’d say it was cosmetic contact lenses.
She placed the sunglasses on Bai Yu’s face, inspecting the look from various angles, and nodded in satisfaction.
All that was left was to fix up the hairstyle, and it would be perfect!
Zhao Mingyue hesitated for ages over the hairdo—she tried a bun but wasn’t satisfied, then a scorpion-tail braid but still felt it was off. After testing out four or five styles, she finally decided that the original twin low ponytails were the best, matching perfectly with the outfit.
After being treated like a life-sized doll for over two hours, Bai Yu was finally free!
She slipped into the little leather shoes Zhao Mingyue prepared for her and stood in front of the floor-length mirror built into the bedroom closet. For a moment, she felt a bit dizzy looking at her reflection.
Who was that in the mirror? A ghost? Nope! What she saw was a living, breathing person!
A beautiful young lady who, size-wise, face-wise, and outfit-wise, looked just like a real-life porcelain doll.
What really threw her off was realizing that this large, porcelain doll was, in fact, herself.
Once upon a time, she had extraordinary strength. She could flip a bus with one hand and didn’t have to be a hulking muscle man to do it—she had the sleek, toned body of a gazelle instead.
Usually, she wore long leather jackets and combat boots, with a long kn*fe strapped to her waist—always clean and neat.
Now, though? She was decked out in a multilayered blue-and-white frock, adorned with two small white bow hair clips and a four-leaf clover pin on her forehead, not to mention white stockings and cute little leather shoes.
It wasn’t that she looked bad, but let’s face it, this outfit was definitely not battle-ready.
She felt a little too exposed down there—lacking the security of her usual armor—but she had gotten used to the feeling of wearing skirts after all.
Surprisingly, those white stockings felt great! It was an experience that didn’t exactly scream torture; in fact, it was kind of comfortable, with that silky, cool sensation wrapping around her legs.
“Heeheehee, looking good, right? Trust my eye for fashion!” Zhao Mingyue twirled around Bai Yu with sparkles in her eyes, utterly pleased.
As she said, Bai Yu’s looks and figure were perfect; she just needed the right outfit.

The camera’s flash never stopped as Zhao Mingyue buzzed around Bai Yu like a caffeinated bee, snapping photos constantly.
She worried that if she didn’t capture this moment today, she might never get the chance again!
After the photo session, her eyes flicked to the rabbit plush toy on the vanity. She suddenly wondered, was Bai Yu once like this when she was alive?
With healthy, vibrant skin, devoid of ghastly black lines—everything about her was entirely normal. No chilly baths, no hiding from sunlight or living humans.
What girl wouldn’t want to look beautiful while dressing up?
Bai Yu was no exception.
Even if she looked ferocious on a regular basis, threatening to take down other ghosts and humans, she still had a soft side deep down. Primarily, she was just a girl trapped in a ghostly body, with a mind still very much intact.
While Zhao Mingyue pondered this, her phone chimed suddenly.
“Do you have time tomorrow, Mingyue?”
The message was from Lu Liangting, with that distinctive lotus profile picture that always stood out.
“Lu Liangting?”
That reminded her—when she’d gone to the mission site last night, he hadn’t seen her; he had no clue that she had been to No. 13 Middle School.
She had seen the police show up and left after the task was over, completely ignoring him.
“I’ll be a bit busy tomorrow, need to head out for some shopping for Bai Yu, and then to visit some graves. Might squeeze in some random fun too. Can’t waste my day with Bai Yu just lounging around!” she replied.
“Alright then, I’ll skip it. I was hoping to take you out for a stroll and help you find a new place since you shouldn’t stay at the Sunshine Apartments.”
Lu Liangting had wanted to go look for Xiao Lian’s son and sniff out the murderer of Chen Yun tonight.
“No need, this place is just fine. I’m not scared of that female ghost on the fifth floor.”
“This isn’t a joke; it really could be dangerous.”
“I know it is! I’m not one to gamble with my life.”
“Okay, we’ll discuss it later.”
As she finished the conversation, Zhao Mingyue put her phone away, feeling grateful. Lu Liangting genuinely seemed like a good person.
She was sure his intentions stemmed from a strong sense of justice, not some potential romantic feelings.
“Lu Liangting wanted to take me out to find an apartment,” she shared.
“Tell him he can look, but I don’t recommend getting too close,” Bai Yu commented, glancing sideways.
“I know! I’m not one to owe people. If I start racking up favors, it’ll be tough to repay.” Zhao Mingyue shrugged and pulled out her black phone again.
“Oh! By the way, I still have a lottery draw I haven’t used yet. Want to give it a shot?”
She activated the spinning wheel app.
“Task completed, lottery attempts +1”
“Task completed, strength +1”
“Task completed, vision +1”
To Zhao Mingyue, it all seemed fine, but for Bai Yu, the phone’s screen painted an entirely different picture.
bl**d-red subtitles materialized:
“Congratulations, you successfully helped No. 652 regain her memory.”
“He forced me to eat my mother’s eyeballs, yanked my hair, and made me kneel there, stark n*ked, demanding I answer a question—what’s better, an eyeball or a heart?”
“I killed him! I dug out his heart! And made him answer me—do you regret it?”
“You have successfully completed the task: The Fragile Girl.”
“You have gained the identity reward: Redemption Executor.”
“Every scoundrel has a past they wish to bury. With this new identity, you will be able to designate special locations to trigger redemption tasks.”
“Doctor, have you ever really considered healing a patient?”
“Once the number of healed patients meets the requirements, you will receive a special reward.”
“Special Reward: The Evil God’s Dual Eyes.”
“Chosen as a goddess and bound to the sacrificial altar, I have always been a faithful believer of the Great God. As a goddess, I should offer myself to the divine, but upon seeing the Great God’s eyes, I began to regret…”
“I suddenly realized, the god who has always protected me must actually be a rabbit.”
