Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School – Chapter 112

Chapter 112: The Bakery’s Recruitment Talent Show – Free Cookies

After I moved a display board that was even bigger than me to the location, I searched for quite some time before finally finding Ying Shiqian, the senior, who was slacking off among the various mutual assistance groups for club recruitment.

At this moment, the senior was sitting bored behind a table, with a form for joining the club pressed down by the next table, and only a simple banner indicating that this was the sign-up point for the “Bakery” club.

It was a completely different vibe from other clubs showcasing their talents.

“Senior, are you slacking off here so early? Didn’t bring anything?” I placed the display board in front of her, finally attracting her attention.

“Huh? Oh! Xiao Han, you’re here! I’m so bored sitting here all alone. If I had known, I would have stayed at the store, boohoo…” Ying Shiqian rose from her seat and lamented dramatically as soon as she saw me.

Several nearby senior club members gathered around curiously.

“Stop it! Seriously, senior, you didn’t bring anything?” I held back her enthusiasm with one hand and then pointed at the side display board, which seemed to have been specially designed but looked like it had been used many times before, giving off a sense of being outdated.

But it was still usable.

“Ah? Oh, the base is too heavy, so I didn’t bring it. Besides, the new members will probably drop out soon anyway; it doesn’t really make a difference whether I put in effort or not.” At this point, the senior slumped over the table like a lazy fish.

“Cheer up, senior! Aren’t you afraid the store manager will come to inspect?” I reminded her kindly, propping my hands on the table.

I must say, Ying Shiqian’s true nature was still that of a lazy fish; her warmth and liveliness were just for strangers. Once she got to know me, she no longer hid it.

But… didn’t a lot of people come here?

“What’s there to be afraid of? If the store manager comes, I’ll just act all cute and complain a bit; she won’t blame me. Come, come, come—let’s sit down together.” The senior casually replied.

“Okay, whatever you say.”

I placed the display board behind me and assembled it. After a while of busying myself, I finally sat down.

“Senior, how long are we going to be here?” I clapped my hands and casually asked while taking out my phone.

“Uh… two days, today and tomorrow.”

“Alright, do we have any talents prepared?”

“Talent? What kind of talent? Should I decorate a flower with cream on a new student’s head right here?” Ying Shiqian retorted unhappily.

“Fine then… are we just standing here? It is for recruitment after all, shouldn’t we at least bring some free cookies from the store to hand out? Maybe we can earn some favor with some junior sisters.” I continued to suggest, as I didn’t want the cookies, which I had a share of, to end up in the trash outside the store.

“Ah? Good idea!” Upon hearing my words, the senior perked up, and I didn’t know what excited her so much that she suddenly came out of her lazy state.

“Ah?”

“I’ve decided! I’m going to flirt with the junior sisters!”

Well… it turns out that it was the junior sisters that caught her interest. I didn’t expect Ying Shiqian would be interested in them, but thinking back, she seemed to be quite interested in me initially, but once we got familiar, that enthusiasm seemed to fade.

Is she really so quick to tire of new things?

I’m also a junior sister!

“Senior, I’m also a junior sister!” I said playfully, tugging at her sleeve for fun.

“Ah… Xiao Han is already my good sister! I’m flirting with junior sisters to find more good sisters for you. Wait for me, I’ll go find sisters for you!”

Ying Shiqian was first choked by my words, but soon found a rather unreliable excuse to avoid it.

“Alright, whatever. I’ll just keep watch.” I stretched and leaned back in my chair, speaking helplessly.

“Good sister! Wait for me, I’ll be right back.”

After watching the senior run off, I could only sit there boringly. But I took this opportunity to try contacting my classmates, bringing them into the class group.

I numbered them one by one, added them as friends, and sent out requests. This process was quite tedious and dull.

But soon, I got busy.

Once students started joining the group, the welcome messages and questions from new students came one after another.

But there was no way around it. I still had to clarify my position as class leader and explain the reason for adding them to the group, and so on.

And not only the class group, but I also created a second mutual assistance group for the class that didn’t have a tutor.

As the number of people in the group kept increasing, it began to get flooded with messages; many new students repeated their questions.

After answering several times, I started getting annoyed and directly summarized the answers and solutions to these questions, posting them all at once and @ing all members.

Then, I continued to bring in more students, as there were over a hundred people in total in the class, which was quite a lot.

Even though today was only the second day of school, more than half of the classmates I had contact information for was already quite significant.

In the meantime, some new students also came to consult me about club-related matters, but I didn’t know much about the clubs either; I only gave them a brief explanation, and it seemed they weren’t really interested in joining.

By the time Ying Shiqian had gone back and forth to the bakery, not even one club application form had been submitted here.

“Xiao Han~ Xiao Han~ I’m back.” Ying Shiqian came directly over with her basket and placed it on the table.

“You brought this whole basket over?”

“Yeah, anyway, there’s no one at the store, so it’s better to hand them out here.” The senior smiled with her usual enthusiasm, “Xiao Han, do you want to help me hand them out?”

“Um… no thank you, I’m not good at that. I’m still busy with class matters.” I waved my hands quickly.

Now that I’m the class leader, I have to prioritize the class. Many new students are just starting and don’t understand anything, so they will naturally come to me for help as the class leader.

However, none of our classmates had arrived early. I could have sworn I remembered a good number of new students arriving early; was there really no one allocated to my Class 14?

How many classes of new students are there, anyway?

Although I complained a bit, I still found joy in helping others—it’s a lovely thing to do!

Seeing them encounter difficulties, helplessly asking for help in the class group, eagerly looking at their phones waiting for someone to respond to their questions.

Thinking about it, it still made me a bit excited.

Time passed little by little. In fact, I wasn’t that busy these two days. I had already obtained my flying license, and the baking shop job wasn’t urgent. I planned to take advantage of the rare free time to borrow some books from the library to read.

After all, I couldn’t keep slacking off like this.

Having stayed in the academy for so long, although I had grasped some extraordinary means, these weren’t really connected to my efforts.

The academy, after all, is a place for learning, to study the principles of the extraordinary, master the means to control power, and explore the secrets of the unknown world. Isn’t that the charm of the extraordinary?

When the admissions office of Witch Academy called, I was stunned—I had been accepted into a school I never imagined I could touch. Yes, I am a boy and it is an all-girls’ academy, but they did not mind, so I saw no reason to object. I had applied secretly, without telling my family, just to take a chance. But as soon as those striking seniors greeted us newcomers—pressing every boy against the wall with a knowing smile—I realized things were about to spin out of control. “Oh, come now, you sweet little freshman,” one of them said smoothly, her voice full of mischief. “Don’t make this difficult for me, your big sis. Swallow this core and transform into a witch like me, alright?” She held the glowing orb before us, half-threatening, half-teasing, almost inviting the new boys to react. It was clear she enjoyed it—the blend of fear and resistance in their expressions. Our unease seemed to be her personal amusement. After all, they only had this opportunity once a year.
