Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School – Chapter 134

Chapter 134: New Roommate, the Purist Yu Yatian

Morning.

I had a good sleep last night, and I felt great when I got up in the morning.

However, just as I was going downstairs, I heard some noises.

Is someone up?

If there are classes, it’s not really early at this hour, but thinking back on my roommates, none of them would make such a racket in the kitchen, right?

With a curious mindset, I walked to the kitchen. I wanted to see who would be in the kitchen so early in the morning; usually, it’s empty, right?

Including me, they all eat outside.

And there are no ingredients in the villa.

As I opened the kitchen door, I saw a figure standing at the stove, with long hair that transitioned from golden to black, slightly messy and cascading down her back.

Noticing my presence, she instinctively turned around to look at me.

“Hi… hello, may the Holy Light guide you, my roommate whom I haven’t met last night.”

“Um… hi…” I was taken aback by her words. This golden gradient hair was clearly not someone I knew.

Her words indicated that she was a new student who arrived last night; the gradient black hair must be her natural color, while the gold is dyed.

Her speech also aligned with my understanding of the believers of the Holy Angel sect.

So, I concluded that she was originally supposed to enroll in Holy Angel Academy but either didn’t score high enough to enroll or was probably transferred here, as her timing suggests a late arrival.

Since her dormitory is one like ours, which is full of gender-transformed individuals, this wifely demeanor… she… um… was a boy before?

I’ve heard that the Holy Angel sect does not place much importance on gender; after all, there is no such thing as gender in Holy Angels. If she was a boy, accepting her transformation into a girl shouldn’t be out of the question.

That seems plausible.

“Well… my name is Yang Yuelan; you can just call me Xiao Han.” I confidently introduced myself again.

“I know, my roommates explained the situation in the villa to me last night. They all call you Sister Xiao Han, so you must have some persuasive skills, huh? Ah, I forgot to introduce myself; my name is Yu Yatian. If you want to be friendly, you can call me Xiao Yu or Xiao Tian.”

“Okay… okay, Xiao Tian.”

Thus, we formally introduced ourselves.

“Um… are you making breakfast?”

“Yeah, as a purist, this is sort of a habit for me. However, my breakfast is quite bland, so I was unsure if it would suit your tastes. I didn’t dare to make too much; otherwise, wasting food would be quite shameful.” Yu Yatian said, taking out a small bowl from the kitchen, rinsing it briefly, and then pouring a bowl of plain congee.

“Um… for me?”

“Of course! Would you like to taste it? Let me know how my cooking is.” Yu Yatian had a smiling face, filled with anticipation as she looked at me.

“Thank you, you’re… the first one to use this kitchen.” I took the small bowl; the steaming congee was freshly made. I took a small sip along the edge… um… it really had no flavor, just plain rice porridge.

“Thanks, it tastes good.”

“Really? You’re the first person who’s not a purist to say this congee is delicious; you must have the potential to believe in the Holy Light.”

“Ah… no, no, I just don’t have picky tastes.” I hurriedly explained. It would have been better with some side dishes, but it seems she didn’t prepare any.

And… believing in the Holy Light?

Sorry, I don’t believe in that. Even though I know that faith and belief are different, I wouldn’t entrust what is called faith to such things.

“Is that so? Then I apologize for being presumptuous. But since we’ll be living under the same roof, I hope Sister Xiao Han will take care of me.”

“Eh… let’s just work hard together.”

“Then let’s encourage each other, my class leader.”

“Huh?”

“I’m sorry, you probably don’t know yet? I just arrived at the academy yesterday and was assigned to Class 14. To take care of me, they arranged for me to stay in your dormitory. I hope you don’t mind too much.” Yu Yatian looked up at me, her originally gentle smile now seemed to carry some other meaning.

“Oh… I see, that’s good. Why would I mind? But there are no classes today; it’s best to adapt to the academy.”

“That’s true. I was hoping that your class leader would help me get familiar with the academy, but since you got up so early, it seems you have your own matters.” Yu Yatian said, lowering her head a little in disappointment.

“I’m sorry… I do have some things to attend to… If you don’t mind, you could go with Hong Chanyi. She’s also in Class 14 and quite lively; with her, you should adapt quickly.” I spoke with a hint of apology since, as class leader, I couldn’t guide the new student around the academy… Wait, is it the class leader’s duty to do that?

How did I get ensnared in this?

“Hong Chanyi? I sensed something unpure about her. Among everyone in this villa, only you, Sister Xiao Han, give me the best impression. May I ask what your plans are for today, class leader?”

“Uh… I’m… going to the laboratory to study the spellbook.” I organized my words and explained.

“Eh? Sister Xiao Han has started extraordinary research already? Then… can you take me to see it? If it’s too much of a disturbance, class leader, you can refuse. Don’t worry about my unreasonable requests.”

“Actually, it’s fine to take you along, but it might be a bit dangerous if you don’t mind.”

“Of course, I don’t mind, but please wait a moment. I promised them last night I would make breakfast for them; let me prepare it for them first.”

After watching Yu Yatian get busy, I finished the congee in my small bowl; after all, she mentioned something about not wasting food. Although there were no side dishes, I just considered it like drinking water.

“It seems they haven’t gotten up yet, so let’s go first.” Yu Yatian untied her apron and tidied her clothing.

Although she really has that wifely aura, her feminine outfit still looked a bit awkward on her. Her movements as she fiddled with her long hair seemed clumsy, indicating she had just transitioned to being a girl.

“Hm? What’s wrong? Sorry, this is my second day as a girl; if there’s anything inappropriate, please correct me.” Yu Yatian seemed to sense my gaze on her and explained quite directly.

That was quite unreserved; this… level of acceptance! It’s already comparable to mine, right?

“Oh, nothing. Just be your true self; don’t force yourself to change because of external perceptions.”

“You’re right; thank you.”

After casually chatting with Yu Yatian, I breathed a sigh of relief. I didn’t know why, but it felt quite exhausting to communicate with her.

When I took her to the bus station, Yu Yatian spoke up again.

“Hm? Sister Xiao Han, I heard from Hong Chanyi that you can already fly. I didn’t expect you to take the bus too!”

“Ah? You know?”

“Of course! Is flying on a broomstick really that restrictive? As new students, shouldn’t we use it as often as possible?”

“Oh, no, it’s just that I rarely take someone on my broom. I thought it would be steadier to take the bus.”

“I see. When I first arrived at Witch Academy, a senior took me on her broom. I heard that flying on a broom is a characteristic of Witch Academy; I thought I could experience it again.” Yu Yatian said regretfully.

“Actually, I can take you, but it might be slower. If we wait for the bus, it could take a while for it to arrive.”

“Then I’ll trouble you, Sister Xiao Han. I really want to experience it once more.”

After some discussion, we ultimately decided to fly on the broom, as I had the experience of taking Sister Bai on a broom without falling.

As Yu Yatian sat behind me, pulling on the edge of my clothing as we flew in the sky, I sensed her nervousness.

“Are you okay?”

“Um… I’m okay, just a little acrophobic; it’s a weakness I need to overcome… may the Holy Light help me conquer… my fears…”

“Okay…” I didn’t expect Yu Yatian to be acrophobic; I also had a bit of that. However, once you master flying, it won’t be so scary. In fact, it can be quite enjoyable, like embracing the sky.

Unfortunately, you cannot fly too high at the academy, or you might touch the barrier in the sky.

The morning sky was also very refreshing, with the sun rising on the horizon. Embracing the new day with the morning sun held significant meaning.

Until I brought Yu Yatian to the central teaching area, it should be her first time here, as she didn’t attend classes yesterday.

“Are you okay?”

After getting off, I saw Yu Yatian kneeling on the ground. I immediately rushed over to help steady her. If she was this seriously acrophobic, why did she want to ride the broom? What was she after?

“Uh… um… I’m fine, thanks for your concern… um…” Yu Yatian responded intermittently, seemingly unwilling to bother me.

“Let’s get up first; although the ground is tiled, it’s not very clean.” I grasped her small arm to help her stand.

But she still looked quite weak.

“You’re so afraid of heights; you should’ve said so earlier. Doing this…”

“I’m sorry for troubling you… but… I also want to fly. Conquering my fears is a kind of training that a purist should undergo…”

“Alright, stop bringing up training. There are many other ways to overcome fear; there’s no need to force yourself like this.” I supported her as we walked into the experimental building.

“Um… is this where Sister Xiao Han does her spell research? It’s my first time here.”

“Yeah, roughly. I’m in laboratory 8401, and by coincidence, our advisor is in 8405. If you want to find Teacher Ji, you can come here.”

“Oh, really? Thank you for informing me, class leader. I indeed have something to discuss with the advisor, so this is perfect.”

“Eh? But today the advisor seems to have class and won’t be here, so you might be disappointed.”

“Is that so? That’s alright; I’m not too disappointed. Isn’t there still you, Sister Xiao Han, to show me your lab? Can I go in to take a look?”

“Of course, but just don’t touch anything.”

When the admissions office of Witch Academy called, I was stunned—I had been accepted into a school I never imagined I could touch. Yes, I am a boy and it is an all-girls’ academy, but they did not mind, so I saw no reason to object. I had applied secretly, without telling my family, just to take a chance. But as soon as those striking seniors greeted us newcomers—pressing every boy against the wall with a knowing smile—I realized things were about to spin out of control. “Oh, come now, you sweet little freshman,” one of them said smoothly, her voice full of mischief. “Don’t make this difficult for me, your big sis. Swallow this core and transform into a witch like me, alright?” She held the glowing orb before us, half-threatening, half-teasing, almost inviting the new boys to react. It was clear she enjoyed it—the blend of fear and resistance in their expressions. Our unease seemed to be her personal amusement. After all, they only had this opportunity once a year.
