Chapter 29: Staff Uniform
I looked at the contract in my hand. The content was brief and to the point, and it didn’t seem to have any flaws, looking much simpler than a formal labor contract.
I really had no experience in this area, so I was naturally a bit hesitant to sign it.
“What’s wrong? Don’t you trust the contract? Don’t worry, the contract’s content has been approved by the academy. If there’s any trickery involved, we’d be even more anxious than you. It’s just a part-time contract, so we’re not about to set any traps for you; otherwise, the store manager would k*ll me!”
After repeated persuasion from this senior, I ultimately signed my name.
As soon as I finished writing my name, the contract burned quickly as if it was self-igniting, flashing light before leaving no ashes behind.
Only I was left there, startled.
At the same time, all the content related to that contract appeared in my mind. As long as I recalled carefully, the information would emerge.
“Startled, huh? That’s how the contract works. You should have the content in your mind now, right?” The two relaxed senior staff members watched me complete the signing of the contract.
I had to say, there weren’t even any customers during this whole time. How were they making money?
However, I was more focused on the contract; it was such a magical power!
If I could write all the difficult knowledge points on the contract, wouldn’t that mean I could remember them directly? Unfortunately, I had no clue about this so-called contract principle and didn’t know if it could be exploited.
If it could be, such a method would surely become widespread, and it seemed like it wasn’t something I needed to worry about.
“By the way, I just saw your signature; your name is Yang Yuelan, right? Let’s introduce ourselves! I’m Ying Shiqian, and she’s Tang Yihan.” Ying Shiqian smiled at me, ready to continue the conversation, completely forgetting that it was still working hours.
“I’m Tang Yihan, you can call me Senior Tang.” Tang Yihan added from the side.
“Oh right, you can call me Senior Ying too. Yang Yuelan, do you have any nicknames you prefer? Like Little Yang, or Yuelan, maybe Xiao Han?”
“You two can just call me Xiao Han.” I quickly replied.
“Alright~ Xiao Han, hehe… Now that you’re officially employed, you should have your uniform and attendance sheet. Remember to clock in every time you come, okay? Your salary will be based on the clock-in time, so don’t forget.” Ying Shiqian stood up, looking like she was going to prepare those things for me.
“By the way, do you have time now? If you do, you can officially clock in and start working now.”
“I’m free! Of course I’m free!”
I nodded immediately. Given the current situation, there were no customers around, so I wanted to make the most of it. Getting paid for doing nothing—who would pass up such an opportunity?
Moreover, there was an unexpected benefit of working part-time here: employees could take home items like near-expiration bread and snacks!
Also, during the part-time period, meals were provided, although they could only be from the store. But as long as one had thick skin, they could eat the most expensive items—of course, this required not to get caught by the suddenly checking store manager.
This was simply a heavenly part-time job… what else could I possibly want?
Soon, Ying Shiqian finished preparing my identity badge and handed it over to me—this was what I would use to clock in.
The bakery’s operating hours were from 7 AM to 8 PM, so I could come during that time. Although it was a part-time job, I needed to work a certain number of hours each week. Although it wasn’t a lot, I still had to stick to a schedule.
I would be paid by the hour, with no guaranteed minimum or full attendance bonuses.
“Xiao Han, come here for a moment and pick your work uniform. If we have the right size, then there’s no need to customize it.” After handing me the ID badge, Ying Shiqian got busy again, this time with uniforms.
I looked at the uniforms they wore; they were short-sleeved tops in a red color, quite neat in style, complemented by half-skirt-like aprons, which looked really nice and were quick to change into.
Following Ying Shiqian, I arrived at the back room for changing. The space there was even larger than what I had seen outside, with neatly folded uniforms stored in a cabinet.
“Senior Ying, how come the store has so many uniforms?” I asked. I actually wanted to ask why there were so many sets of uniforms when there were only the two of them working here, and the sizes all seemed to differ.
“They’re all left by previous juniors who worked here. They’ve long since left these behind,” Ying Shiqian casually replied, then opened the cabinet to sort through. “I remember there was a junior whose body shape was similar to yours. Let me look for her.”
I quietly stood to the side, not wanting to interrupt. I had no problem wearing a uniform that someone else had worn since it was just for part-time use.
Besides, I wasn’t losing anything; after all, these were worn by seniors, and I hadn’t seen any ugly seniors at the Witch Academy yet.
“Found it~ Xiao Han, come try this on.”
I took the uniform, which was very clean and had no odd smells, and it looked well-preserved. Although it was stored in just a simple cabinet, through my Spirit Vision I could see the flow of Extraordinary Energy inside; it must be maintained by some magic I didn’t know about.
“Thank you.”
After a quick thank you, I began trying it on.
“Wait, I’ll find a few more sets for you to try. This cabinet will be where you’ll store your work uniform in the future. I’ll be off for now~”
Watching her leave in such a hurry made me smile knowingly. Even though it was convenient to change uniforms, I still needed to take off my top.
Maybe she thought I would care about that.
From this perspective, Senior Ying was quite nice—she really knew how to take care of people.
Before long, I was dressed in the uniform. Once I tied the half apron, I felt motivated to work in the back kitchen!
Although I didn’t know how to bake bread, I could cook! It was a shame that skill didn’t seem useful in a bakery.
I adjusted my collar. After putting on the bright red top, I realized the color was somewhat deep, resembling burgundy.
However, I seemed to be missing a hat, which I noticed Senior Tang Yihan was wearing.
I walked out of the changing room, my steps slightly awkward since I had just met the two seniors recently, and of course, wearing new clothes made me feel less relaxed than in front of Sister Bai.
“Oh~ Xiao Han looks really good in that outfit~”
“Exactly! I picked this out for Xiao Han~” Ying Shiqian seemed to be showing off from the side.
“Hmph~ Aren’t all uniforms the same style? What are you bragging about?”
“What’s wrong with bragging? Yihan, you should hurry up and go deal with your dough~”
