Chapter 34: A New Day
A day went by quickly.
I directly punched in, changed my clothes, and was prepared to leave. Senior Tang Yihan also seemed ready to go, after all, closing time was approaching.
“Xiao Han, hurry up, be careful on the way.”
“Mm, you too, Senior.” I politely responded.
“Heh, if it were me, the ones who should be careful are the bad guys. If you have time tomorrow, remember to come early.”
“Mm, I will!”
After nodding, I grabbed some cookies that Senior gave me to take back to the dorm.
These cookies were a gift from her, and according to Senior Tang Yihan, they had been around for a while, but when I tried them, they actually tasted quite good, not stale at all.
But since they were a gift, I didn’t decline. After all, it’s irresponsible to say they would probably sit there and not sell.
I must say, having breads to eat all day during lunch and dinner was really enjoyable, but seeing the Senior looking a bit dispirited when eating some of them made me realize that I would likely feel the same way in the future.
Eating the same thing repeatedly can indeed become tiresome.
No wonder Senior Tang Yihan tries to create all sorts of odd products, even if the taste is strange, she finds joy in tasting them.
She mentioned that many of the store’s new products were developed by her through gradual exploration; she’s the main force behind product innovation at this store.
Of course, wasted materials just don’t count.
So I wanted to quickly master some baking techniques as well. I hope I can replicate those sweet treats from my past life, creating a collision of different worlds.
Returning to my big villa, to be honest, I was somewhat looking forward to having new roommates here, but unfortunately, it was still just me in the empty house. It seems no new students arrived early before the final day.
As for how I knew so quickly that no one was coming, I simply asked the intelligent butler here. This little gadget that wanders around the house knows if someone has come in or not.
It even seems to be able to climb stairs to the upper floor, which surprised me; it truly is a marvel of magic-powered alchemy.
Tonight, I also planned to sleep early and wake up early to go to the store in the morning, hoping there wouldn’t be many people then.
As for the trivial matters in the dormitory, I didn’t feel much; after all, it was just me here, so I didn’t have to consider others’ feelings.
But I shouldn’t go too far, or it might give others the impression of being too messy.
Actually, there were quite a few things to take care of tonight, like sorting the clothes I hadn’t organized yesterday and putting them in the wardrobe.
Also, washing and drying the clothes I wore… um, actually, I guess there’s no need to dry them since there’s a dryer here.
Although I had never used this thing, I personally prefer the smell of clothes dried in natural sunlight. It’s very comfortable.
However, just before I went to bed, I received a good night message from Sister Bai, which I didn’t expect. Although Sister Bai left in a hurry, would she really say good night to me the second night?
I never had this kind of treatment before.
Could it be that Sister Bai feels some kind of guilt for bringing me into the Witch Academy?
I had clearly explained before that Sister Bai bore no responsibility; after all, this was all my choice and I have had no regrets about it.
But seeing Sister Bai looking for something to talk about was also quite cute.
That night I slept soundly.
Moreover, my biological clock returned to normal, so I woke up early, feeling very energetic.
Today would be a day to make big money!
I wondered if the Store Manager and the others had returned, especially Senior Ying Shiqian. If she hadn’t come back, it would probably just be me and Senior Tang Yihan today.
Maybe I would have to wash dishes for half the afternoon again. I hope the Senior doesn’t come up with too many new items; there’s no way we can sell that many!
As for my breakfast today, I of course had those cookies I brought back yesterday. I didn’t eat many last night; after all, eating too much at night may lead to weight gain.
Although I can’t really be called fat now; it’s difficult to gain weight in that household.
I basically jogged to the store, but when I saw Senior Tang Yihan busy, I knew the Store Manager probably hadn’t returned yet.
Though it was said to be delivering red velvet cakes, did it really take that long?
If I’m not mistaken, they seemed to be planning for the top student of this session yesterday. I remember it was pinned in the academy’s task system, and quite a few people were taking on tasks.
“Xiao Han, you’re here so early. Hurry and change clothes to help; my dough is still waiting for me in the back.”
“Alright.”
I looked at the customers selecting bread in the store, finding it somewhat unbelievable that this was the bakery that barely saw any visitors yesterday.
Is it that there are more people in the morning?
If pastries and breads are considered breakfast, it doesn’t seem like a problem. During meal times, indeed, some people come.
Although I’ve always complained about the lack of customers in the store, when busy, it feels impossible to manage alone.
So I promptly changed in the back and took over the front desk duties from Senior Tang Yihan.
“Good thing you’re here, Xiao Han; otherwise, I really couldn’t manage on my own. Anyway, I have to go check on my new products; I spent all night thinking of them.”
“Alright, go ahead, I’ve got this.” I waved, quickly adapting to the work atmosphere.
“Wow, a new staff member! Are you a new student?”
“Mm, yes, I just started yesterday. If there’s anything I’m not doing right, please let me know.” I replied politely since the other person was a customer and seemed to care about the staff’s situation.
Then that person must be a regular here, right?
Probably someone who knows those two seniors.
“Can I really suggest anything?”
“Mm, any reasonable suggestions will be adopted.” I smiled with a standard professional smile, thinking that this customer seemed to be somewhat troublesome.
Please don’t ask me for something overly complicated.
“Then can you give me a sweet good morning blessing? Best accompanied by a cute gesture!”
At that moment, I couldn’t hold my smile anymore; this was a huge request!
I’m just a part-time worker; why would you put me in such a spot?
I recalled the few good morning greetings I knew and summarized for a while, and ultimately could only speak up under this senior’s eager gaze.
“Good morning~ on this new day, I send you a ray of sunshine, two servings of bread, three points of hope, four portions of blessings, and five instances of luck. Have a happy day today~”
I handed her the bread she bought, which conveniently spared me from thinking of some accompanying gesture; doing that would definitely be very embarrassing!
“Oh~ oh! Thank you! With your blessing, I feel like I’ll definitely snag that new student I’m going for today! Bye!”
I awkwardly watched as this senior happily left the store. No matter what, I should at least pray for that unknown new student.
And wish her a warm welcome to the Witch Academy in advance.
“Little~ junior~ I also want your blessing, you won’t play favorites, right?”
At this moment, the next customer came to me with an expectant look. I knew I was in trouble.
Because I opened up a can of worms I shouldn’t have, oh no, my poor vocabulary really couldn’t come up with anything nice to say!
Should I curse you? Should I? I mentally complained frantically.
