Chapter 42: The Intelligent Butler’s Former Name – Little Cattle Horse
“Welcome home, Master~”
The one speaking is the flat Intelligent Butler here. As soon as I opened the door, I saw it swaying at the entrance.
Is it so idle?
Running around doesn’t consume magic power, right?
I quickly checked how much magic power was left here; this is the total magic power shared by the entire villa. If it runs out, how am I going to recharge my phone?
Do I really have to ask Senior for help? I can’t bring myself to say that; it’s like treating others as a power bank. Who would want to be the one to take the loss?
But I also started to wonder. With only a few years of study and improvement, and since new students can’t effectively control magic power, how does a new student recharge the villa?
I squatted down to look at the total magic meter, which currently showed that over three hundred magic power was left. I didn’t know how this was calculated. Is one unit equivalent to the magic power of one magic source?
After some busywork, I found a slightly curled-up poster with tips on it.
It was teaching me how to store magic power. Seeing this, I breathed a sigh of relief. So it automatically absorbs it! But I need to be the one providing the magic power…
Okay, but anyway, three hundred magic power should last for some time…
Now it seemed like one major problem was solved, and I needed to do a thorough cleaning of the entire villa!
When I first moved in, I only simply organized my bedroom, and I hadn’t cleaned the other areas at all.
This is a big project, and it’s a three-story villa. Although most of the top floor is a terrace and such, it all still needs to be cleaned.
“Master, are you going to clean the villa?”
Just as I was about to use the cleaning spell, the Intelligent Butler ran up to me and asked.
“Yes, that’s right, so move aside.” I picked it up and set it aside.
“Master, Master, keeping the indoors clean is my task. You can leave all the cleaning to me.”
“Leave it to you? How can a vacuum robot clean this place? The walls, windowsills, ceilings, and various furniture, how can you handle all that?”
I initially just wanted to argue with the Intelligent Butler, but soon I realized I was being shallow…
I felt a familiar energy radiating from this Intelligent Butler!
“Isn’t… that the cleaning spell? Huh?”
I widened my eyes in disbelief. Is this something a vacuum robot is supposed to have?
After the initial shock, I recalled that Sister Bai seemed to have mentioned that this thing was an alchemical product driven by magic power?
I swallowed hard. Isn’t that a bit unfair? Has a cleaning spell been solidified onto a vacuum robot?
What about me?
I was just feeling smug about having gained this spell…
I watched as the still swaying vacuum robot covered an area with its cleaning spell. Soon, it swept over, working busily.
Then I saw it running back.
“Hey, where are you going? Since you have a cleaning spell, why not clean the whole place?” Feeling suddenly discouraged, I decided to put all my reliance on this Intelligent Butler.
“Master, my reserve magic power is depleted. If I don’t return, I can only wait for you to take me back for recharging…”
The Intelligent Butler immediately responded, but I could sense its voice was lowering.
“Out of magic power? Does using the cleaning spell consume a lot of magic power?” I followed it and asked, my tone becoming more spirited.
“Yes, Master.”
“What’s your maximum charge capacity?”
“1 standard magic power.”
“1 standard magic power?” I was a bit unsure. Is that the same unit as that total power source?
One recharge reduces it by one?
“Yes.”
“How much magic power will you spend to clean the entire villa?” I finally asked the crucial question, as I seemed to only be able to regain some face in this area.
After all, if this little thing consumes too much power, it might be better for me to do it myself.
“About ten recharges.”
“That means ten standard magic power!” I was initially surprised. So, just for this little thing to clean the villa thirty times, I would run out of magic power?
This villa isn’t just filled with this one energy-consuming little thing!
No, no, this can’t go on!
I currently have just one magic source; I don’t know how efficient it is in recovering. I don’t want to end up being a power generator here in the future.
“Intelligent Butler, you are not allowed to use the cleaning spell to clean here anymore! Only clean when it’s really dirty, and don’t wander around to reduce energy consumption!”
I said a lot at once, unsure if this little thing understood.
“Okay, energy-saving mode activated, cleaning task canceled…”
Hearing the intelligent butler say this, I also breathed a sigh of relief. It seems it can understand human speech. I didn’t realize I had such an energy-hungry household member in the dormitory; I wonder if there are other similar things in the villa.
“Intelligent Butler… um, do you have another name? It doesn’t feel right to keep calling you Intelligent Butler.”
“No, please name me, or randomly summon a previously used name.”
“You have a former name?” I looked at this little one, surprised to find it’s second-hand?
Thinking about it, who knows how many previous seniors have lived in this villa.
“Yes, would you like to activate it?”
“Activate it, let me see what name the previous seniors gave you.” I said, slightly curious.
“Previous name activated: Little Cattle Horse.”
“Huh? What? You say your name is that?” I couldn’t believe it; is that even a name?
“Little Cattle Horse.”
“Pfft… hahahaha! How do you have such a name? Hahaha.”
In the end, I couldn’t hold back, laughing out loud, momentarily unsure whether this name was just for fun from those seniors or what.
“Haha, Little Cattle Horse, pfft… hahaha.”
“Master, I’m here.”
After laughing, I slightly paused. I decided not to change the name; it mainly added a bit of joy to my plain life. I hope my unseen roommates will like it.
Since Little Cattle Horse can’t be relied on, I’ll just have to depend on myself to clean the whole villa.
Although this process will be tiring, I’m sure that once I finish, it will give me a sense of accomplishment.
First, I’ll start with the first-floor areas, as for the grass outside, that’s temporarily not my concern. Even if I wanted to push that grass, I wouldn’t have the means to do so.
I can’t just lie down and pull out weeds, right?
But I must say, using the cleaning spell is indeed very convenient. If I use it to wash dishes, it’s also very convenient, much faster than washing by hand.
Of course, I’m cleaning the villa to further understand every area of this house. Even though I live here, I don’t usually go into every area.
But it’s necessary for me to know such places in the villa when the time comes.
During the cleaning process, I also discovered many corners filled with dust and dirt. It seems even the Intelligent Butler Little Cattle Horse misses some corners.
I had to use the cleaning spell several times in those corners to clean them. It seems the previous seniors relied on Little Cattle Horse to keep the villa clean.
