Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School – Chapter 517

Chapter 518 The Value of the Great Knowledge Seed

After gaining some insights about building the “firewall” of the Great Knowledge Tree from the Principal, I didn’t want to trouble her any further.

As for the grading of information for the identification technique and the transformation of the Knowledge Shadow, I had a few ideas on those, so I naturally didn’t need too much help from the Principal. But the firewall aspect was something I was completely clueless about.

After understanding some thoughts from the Principal, I could now carry out self-protection based on that knowledge.

However, in the end, Principal Mei proposed something new that caught my attention: linking the Knowledge Tree with the Academy Network of the Witch Academy!

If possible, Principal Mei could use her permissions to open up the link interface of the Academy Network, which meant that if managed correctly, my Knowledge Tree could serve as an Earth Vein Operating System!

This would be much more convenient than carrying around an external operating system.

In relation to this, the Principal also introduced me to several instructors who have done extensive research on the Earth Vein Operating System and provided me with their contact information. Principal Mei would help facilitate the introductions when the time comes.

Naturally, I accepted this with joy. If the Academy Network could function without the Earth Vein System and phone, directly using the information display projection of the Great Knowledge Tree would be much cooler than any external devices!

Of course, convenience is key—it’s less likely to break and can be used anytime.

I still remember the Earth Vein Operating System that Teacher Ji gave me, which was sitting unused in my storage equipment, gathering dust. Just starting it takes quite a bit of effort, and once opened, it’s best not to move around too much; otherwise, it can easily lose its connection to the Earth Vein.

“I’m really sorry for bothering both Principals for so long about this matter. I’ll prepare to leave now,” I said as the discussion was wrapping up. This trip’s gains were, to say the least, quite beyond description.

“It’s no problem; it didn’t take too long. If you encounter any more issues next time, feel free to come back and ask me. I’m happy to help you,” Principal Mei said with a smile.

After all, as a Principal, regular students generally don’t have the right to ask her trivial questions, yet here was Xiao Han, who had brought forth inspiration from the Great Spellbook.

“Yeah! I will.” I nodded vigorously. After all, it’s the Great Spellbook. If I encounter any issues, I genuinely wouldn’t know who else to ask besides the Principal.

“By the way, Xiao Han, how many Great Knowledge Seeds do you have left now?” Just as I was about to take my leave, Principal Mei suddenly asked.

“Me? Well… I probably have less than ten left. The process of forming these Great Knowledge Seeds is a bit slow. I’m continuously optimizing the casting speed, but the consumption of materials like memories and information is quite large. Plus, I’ve been conducting consumable experiments recently, so I don’t have much left,” I said after rummaging through my things and pulling out the few remaining seeds to explain.

“Can you give them all to me? I can help promote them among the teaching faculty. I believe many extraordinary witches will be interested in this product. Of course, I won’t take them for free. Have you thought about how to price your Great Knowledge Seeds?”

“Price? That’s not necessary! Just having the Principal help promote it is already a great favor; I don’t need to charge anything else,” I quickly waved my hand.

After all, the Principal is promoting this to the level of extraordinary witches!

So wouldn’t my acquisition of knowledge then become much more terrifying? No need for any fees; just promote it for free! If I need more seeds, I would be up all night to produce them!

“Pricing is a must, Xiao Han. You need to maintain a certain respect for your research results and give it a proper value assessment; that’s the greatest respect you can show,” she said with a slightly serious tone before slowly explaining the reason.

“You must understand that whether it’s memory backups, the Knowledge Shadow, or the Earth Vein Identification Technique, the value of these three is somewhat immeasurable. The first two might have alternatives with measurable values among the witches in the Academy, but the third one is heavyweight. However, considering that during this period you will share the knowledge and memories with the users, it’s essentially a form of value recovery. So, the pricing authority is in your hands. No need to rush; after all, in facing different audiences, I believe your pricing should fluctuate accordingly.”

“I understand…”

“So, have you thought about how to price this batch of Great Knowledge Seeds for me? If you haven’t thought it through, I can recommend an idea; I assure you that you won’t come out at a loss.”

“Then… let’s have the Principal decide.” I spoke.

In the end, I threw this question back to the Principal since I truly didn’t have a concrete concept regarding pricing.

After all, my intention from the beginning was never to make money from these; if I can earn a bit, I would be happy, but I certainly wouldn’t allow money to become a stumbling block on my path to promotion.

“I notice you don’t use any weapons, wand, or any other artifacts when casting spells. How about I give you two options?”

“Weapons?” At the Principal’s mention, I was momentarily taken aback.

I indeed didn’t have a habit of using weapons while casting spells. That wand I received at the beginning of school had been gathering dust until now.

While I admit that the wand significantly enhances my casting, most of the time, the situations I encounter don’t really necessitate that extra bit of power or casting speed; I fight relying entirely on my skills without equipment…

However, I must admit that those alchemical gear sometimes turn out to be extremely powerful, not to mention very expensive!

Though I might not use them, since the Principal brought it up, I figured I might as well comply.

“Can the Principal elaborate on this?”

“Of course! For these two options, one is that you can choose a ready-made weapon from my collection of weaponry. These weapons even include non-alchemical category weapons; I have almost every type from wands for spellcasting to cold weapons.”

“And what about the other option?” I continued asking, suppressing my excitement.

“The other… I have plenty of precious materials that have been gathering dust. I can introduce you to the most famous alchemist in the Academy who can help you customize a weapon or artifact that fits you. Alchemists pay close attention to rare materials, and I believe that considering my collection of precious materials, along with my introduction, she would be willing to help.”

“So, have you thought about how to choose? I actually recommend the second option; a customized weapon that fits you is generally far better than a powerful but mismatched weapon,” Principal Mei suggested upon seeing my indecisive demeanor.

“Then let’s go with the Principal’s recommendation.” I agreed.

After all, I truly had no plans to acquire a good weapon at this moment, so it would be difficult to make a decision right away. It’s better to choose something tentative for now, and once I have thought it through, I won’t regret this decision.

“Then I’ll reserve that for you first. I will give you the contact information of that alchemical witch. When you’ve decided, remember to communicate with her!”

“Okay!”

I nodded repeatedly and then entrusted all my remaining Great Knowledge Seeds to the Principal; these were everything I had gathered recently.

“By the way, Principal, I’m curious to ask, even extraordinary witches… do they need to rely on these things for memory and such?” After handing over the Great Knowledge Seeds, a sudden question popped into my mind, making me curious.

“Of course, Xiao Han! What do you think extraordinary witches are like? The boundary of the extraordinary is real time, not becoming all-knowing and all-powerful. Just ask Principal Beif what she does besides fighting and having fun? Yet she is still an extraordinary witch,” Principal Mei Linde said, somewhat taken aback by my question but was quick to respond, using Beif Alanna as an example.

“What do you mean by that? Do I have a grudge against you?” At that moment, Beif Alanna, who was chatting happily with Bai Yu, looked up with a resentful expression directed at Mei Linde, as if she felt she was being used as a teaching example but couldn’t refute it.

“It’s fine; I’m just praising you in front of Xiao Han,” Mei Linde replied nonchalantly, since she wanted to make it easy for Xiao Han to understand, any example would suffice. “So, Xiao Han, do you understand?”

“Yes.” I nodded, having no further questions.

I could naturally see that the Principal was helping to demystify the notion of “extraordinary,” removing any unusual misconceptions I had about it.

“Are you leaving, Xiao Han?”

After saying goodbye to Principal Mei, I approached Sister Bai, and at that moment, Principal Beif also inquired.

“Yeah. Most of the matters for my visit are almost resolved, and I’ve gained more than expected, so I won’t interrupt the two Principals with serious business.”

“It’s no trouble; it’s not an urgent matter anyway,” Principal Beif said casually. “Xiao Han, let me ask you, really, did you give that guy all of your stock? Didn’t you save a few for yourself?”

“Oh? I indeed gave them all away. Does Principal Beif want some too?” I asked in curiosity, surprised that the Great Knowledge Seeds had become so sought after when I initially thought no one wanted them.

“I already have some, but I think they’re quite fun, and I can give a few to my sisters to experience. Xiao Han, I have contributed to that Great Spellbook as well, so you wouldn’t be stingy, right? I understand that rarity drives value. Don’t worry; I’ll make it worth your while,” Beif Alanna finally expressed her thoughts after some persuasion.

“Of course! The help you gave me back then saved my life; I naturally wouldn’t forget that. However, I really don’t have any stock left now. How about I bring some to you once I finish forming them?” I cautiously asked.

“Sure, that would be great! I won’t let you suffer a loss; since that old lady Mei gave you a customized weapon, I’ll give you something practical. I have plenty of spellbooks and Magic Sources,” Beif said confidently.

“I’m preparing a special spellbook for you. As for Magic Sources… how much do you think you need? A thousand or two… would that be too stingy? I recall old Mei mentioning that you aren’t limited by the Earth Vein Shackles right now, so shouldn’t you be able to exceed the 10,000 Magic Source limit? How about I round it up to 10,000? After all, you’re also a Teaching Assistant now, and having too few Magic Sources wouldn’t look good.”

“Isn’t that a bit too much?” I widened my eyes in surprise. After all, giving out so much, is it fair to say that Principals really have that much power?

“Too much? The high value of Magic Sources is for students; for extraordinary witches, it’s a resource they can continuously acquire. Ten thousand seems like a lot, but to someone at my level of extraordinary witch, it’s merely a trickle.”

“And this isn’t the main point. The main point is that spellbook I’m giving you. How should I put it… this is a spellbook I haven’t quite figured out either, and it doesn’t suit my style, so I haven’t studied it in depth.”

“Is that so?” If even the Principal hasn’t grasped it fully, this surely indicates its great value.

“Yeah, don’t just look at it being a spellbook with low consumption; you should realize that consumption is not the only measure of a spellbook’s value, right? I hope you don’t think I’m stingy, as this spellbook is simply gathering dust here. Maybe it can shine in your hands?” As she said this, Beif Alanna took out a spellbook and handed it to me, along with a storage card filled with Magic Sources.

“Thank you, Principal Beif~” I immediately expressed my gratitude sweetly.

“No need to thank me. Just a normal transaction. Don’t forget to keep it for me for when I have time to come find you,” Beif Alanna said while actually appreciating my gratitude, her smile showing no signs of concealment. “See you next time, Xiao Han! Oh, and… Little Bai, hehe~ If you have anything else you want to know, feel free to contact me directly; there’s no need to listen to all the gossip going around.”

“Thanks! I’ll be taking Xiao Han away now.” Sister Bai smiled and led me to say goodbye to the two Principals.

After seeing us off, Beif Alanna quickly approached Mei Linde, pulling out a chair nearby and directly sitting down.

“Are the children nowadays really that terrifying? Is this the terrifying limit of the beings in the main world?”

“Perhaps, maybe Xiao Han is special,” Mei Linde responded to the comment. “Let’s not talk about Xiao Han for now; discussing her makes me need to catch my breath. Let’s talk about your mess; I suddenly feel that the mess you’ve created isn’t so bad after all.”

“That’s rare! Have you thought about how to arrange the script nodes this time?”

“About that. The portion of [Extraordinary Knowledge] originally arranged for the script has deviated from the original script. Since those players are quite eager for this, let’s use this as bait. The civilized world that has tasted [Extraordinary Knowledge] cannot reject this kind of thing.”

“Hehe… you’re more ruthless with your bait than I am. What are you planning?”

“A gamble to drag that world into the mess. Isn’t that your idea? We need room for error. Merging that small world with the main world is both a trial and a risk. You and I both know the broken state of the main world. Having another world as a backup while simultaneously pushing the script forward is quite good, right? And let’s not forget about those nauseating Abyss Demons; they’re now part of the main world too…”

When the admissions office of Witch Academy called, I was stunned—I had been accepted into a school I never imagined I could touch. Yes, I am a boy and it is an all-girls’ academy, but they did not mind, so I saw no reason to object. I had applied secretly, without telling my family, just to take a chance. But as soon as those striking seniors greeted us newcomers—pressing every boy against the wall with a knowing smile—I realized things were about to spin out of control. “Oh, come now, you sweet little freshman,” one of them said smoothly, her voice full of mischief. “Don’t make this difficult for me, your big sis. Swallow this core and transform into a witch like me, alright?” She held the glowing orb before us, half-threatening, half-teasing, almost inviting the new boys to react. It was clear she enjoyed it—the blend of fear and resistance in their expressions. Our unease seemed to be her personal amusement. After all, they only had this opportunity once a year.
