Chapter 529: The Reason Luxien Stayed at School
“You’ve been going to school for half a year, and you’ve almost ruined the whole place. Do you even know what school you are attending? It’s one of the top three academies! You tell me you’re at Witch Academy now? What kind of joke is that?”
“Do you know that our entire family is pinning their hopes on you? When you come back, how are we supposed to explain to those relatives? We’ve already treated every relative to a meal to announce that you’re going to Wizard Academy, and now you say you’re switching schools? Where do you want us to put our family’s face?”
“You’re bouncing around now and still want to come back… Don’t talk to me in that girly voice! I don’t have a son like you. I think you’ve lost your mind; it’s better to count on your younger brother. Figure it out yourself. If you can’t get back to Wizard Academy, don’t contact the family anymore!”
Luxien was at a bar at this moment, unconsciously recalling the events that had just happened not long ago.
She had been at Witch Academy for quite a while, even longer than her time at Wizard Academy, to the point that she almost forgot about the real issues she had to face.
She picked up a drink next to her, ready to have another, since she was already of age and her physical condition was even more alarming than before. However, the real troubles had solidified to a level that even alcohol couldn’t extinguish.
Just as she wanted to have another sip, a hand pressed down on the rim of her glass on the table.
“Take your hand off, who are you?” Luxien was holding back a surge of repressed anger, mixed with grievance and a hint of her last remaining male dignity, which colored her tone a bit aggressive.
“What on earth happened that led you to drown your sorrows here? Don’t you know what drunkenness leads to? If you get drunk, which senior do you think you’ll end up under?”
“I’m not going to get drunk; I know my body well…” Luxien instinctively wanted to retort, but after being reprimanded like this, she reacted and recognized the voice that was talking to her… it was somewhat familiar…
She looked up to see who was speaking, and it was her familiar senior, Daphne.
She instinctively bit her lower lip but resolutely snatched the glass back.
“Don’t you check the drink before you have it?” Seeing Luxien so emotional, Daphne reminded her, her tone laced with teasing, as though trying to lighten the mood, but it had no effect whatsoever.
“Huh?”
Luxien instinctively looked at the glass in her hand; there was something at the bottom that was bubbling like an effervescent tablet, which immediately cleared her inebriated nerves, “What is this?”
“What else could it be…” Daphne chuckled lightly and unceremoniously sat down on the couch, getting very close to Luxien, “With your intelligence, you still dare to drink here? If I hadn’t gotten here first, I wouldn’t even know which senior you’d be in bed with now.”
“You drugged me?”
“Yes, so stop drinking. Drinking too much will be bad for you… Ugh! No! Don’t drink!” Daphne originally wanted to persuade Luxien not to drink, but before she could finish, she saw Luxien tilt her head back and gulp down the entire drink along with the undissolved tablet, leaving her no chance to stop her.
“I drank it; so what? Who’s ruining me… we’re all girls, who cares? I have nothing left anyway; why should I care about this?” Luxien slammed the empty glass down on the table, her tone filled with a sense of “I’ve already lost everything.” She stared at the empty glass, lost in thought, and finally, without thought, asked, “How long until this medicine works?”
“You… hm, about half an hour,” Daphne replied grumpily.
“Haha… Is it that long? I don’t feel anything at all,” Luxien complained, then slouched back on the couch, as if she didn’t care about anything anymore.
At this moment, Daphne also took a deep breath, looking at Luxien while calming her tone, “Luxien, what happened? Tell me about it. You were fine before; why did you change so much after returning from Bobapop Islands?”
“There’s nothing to say; it can’t be changed anyway.”
“You can talk to me about your worries…”
“I don’t want to talk!”
“Okay… then can I guess? I guess… you had some kind of argument with your family?” Daphne asked tentatively.
Every year in the first semester at Witch Academy, a large number of students face such issues; it’s unavoidable. The competition between Extranormal Academies puts immense pressure on these students, especially in a unique institution like Witch Academy.
So at times like this, organizations related to psychological counseling would emerge among the new student groups, formed voluntarily.
They would use their own strength to help the new students solve the practical problems they face.
Don’t underestimate the effort these seniors put into helping; without the pressure of future life, most people would choose to do what they find meaningful, such as solving personal problems, physiological issues, psychological issues, cognitive problems, family issues, economic problems, and so forth.
At this moment, Luxien fell silent because the other party had guessed correctly with just a slight hint.
She had indeed had a conflict with her family, an irreconcilable conflict.
She was not an only child; her family wanted her to return to Wizard Academy, just for the sake of their own face.
She kept reflecting and recalling the smiles that her parents had when she was accepted into Wizard Academy… It was a matter of pride for them, as if they lived for that moment.
Because she was the one who got into Wizard Academy, not her parents, so those smiles were displayed for showing off to relatives, enjoying the thrill of having a genius son.
They became parents and tasted the flavor of power for the first time.
She was the most successful investment in the family; her older siblings didn’t get into good academies. Originally, they could have gotten into a decent Beast Academy, but they referred to those schools as “chicken academies.”
They wouldn’t agree to her going to Beast Academy to become a tiger or something; they said the family didn’t raise livestock.
From the beginning, their goal was the top academies. With their low understanding, they thought it was easy to get in; as long as they had enough children, there would inevitably be one genius who could succeed. Hence, the day she got accepted into Wizard Academy, her parents immediately canceled their plans for future pregnancy.
Once she left her original family and experienced the outside world, she realized one thing: the lower the understanding, the more they had an inexplicable confidence. This thought had accompanied her for quite a long time until she met Yang Yuelan.
Only through pain do people learn to reflect; her parents were the same, but now they had no chance to experience what pain was like.
With just a phone call, they even expected her to figure out how to transfer back to Wizard Academy. Is that even possible?
It’s simply impossible; how could an ordinary student negotiate with Extranormal Academies?
This cognitive gap was causing her immense pain; her parents had shackled her with bondage since childhood, and only now did she realize she couldn’t take it off. It was clearly a simple decision, an easy let go, yet it made her feel like she was suffering.
Her parents kept saying the family didn’t raise livestock, but when she wanted to remove the shackles her parents had placed on her, she realized that livestock had no hands.
And she couldn’t remove that shackle.
“It’s okay, you’re the one I brought to Witch Academy; I’ll be here with you…”
“It’s you… you ruined my entire life!” When Daphne said that, Luxien’s emotions were suddenly ignited!
If this girl hadn’t forcibly turned her into a witch and left her at Witch Academy, none of this would have happened. She wouldn’t have a home to return to at this moment! Nor would she have these troubles!
She wanted to vent with her fists, but when it landed on Daphne, it felt light… Did she really hate the senior in front of her?
She should be hating her parents!
But she couldn’t do that!
The inner shackle forced her not to hate the parents who raised her, that original family.
She only hated knowing too much yet being powerless to change anything.
“It’s okay… just let it all out…” Daphne reach out to wrap her arms around Luxien’s neck, pulling her into her embrace. She admitted that it was her fault for all this, but without her, there would be others; therefore, the bad guys would never be lacking in substitutes.
But when the first punch from Luxien came without any strength, she knew her gamble was right.
So… she was willing to bear all the subsequent responsibilities.
“Talk to your senior; I’m very curious about your past~ The situation hasn’t developed to the worst; you still have me with you.”
Luxien was held like this for a long time. The last remnant of her once male dignity prevented her from crying until she soaked a small part of Daphne’s collar. Only then did she stubbornly lift her head, indicating that she hadn’t cried.
It was unclear whether their previous intimacy or the drug in the drink made her cheeks flush now, and the words she hadn’t wanted to say just opened like a dam.
Luxien remembered she seemed to talk for a long time, until she fell asleep; the “aphrodisiac” she had been expecting never kicked in. All she felt was that her body was relaxed, and her consciousness was a little hazy until she didn’t even realize what she had said before drifting off to sleep.
Daphne looked at the girl lying in her arms like a “bird relying on a person,” a doting smile appearing on her face. After teasing her cheek slightly, she picked Luxien up in a princess carry, as sleeping here wasn’t safe.
The drug she had used was merely a sleep aid, an alchemical product that helped the user articulate the thoughts they were unwilling to express. When those thoughts trapped in the heart were conveyed, the weariness would pull the user’s consciousness into deep sleep, aiding in mental recovery and reducing inner turmoil.
However, this drug still belonged to a category forbidden for sale at Witch Academy, and much like certain other controlled substances, regarding the Academy’s so-called regulation, one could only say… it was an exercise in futility.
After all, in some alchemy classes, some witches would teach how to concoct such things as part of proper curricula.
……
“Intense love is the most yearned form of interaction between parties, whereas stable emotions are the state both lovers wish to maintain, yet this balance is challenging to achieve in their relationship.”
“Firstly… I’m glad you all came to my class, but I don’t want you all to follow my method to fall in love. There are no standardized templates for love, and there are no standard answers for romance; everything I say is merely a reference. Only when you understand this can you qualify to start today’s topic on love.”
At this moment, I walked down the corridor of the teaching building, with the research related to the Great Spellbook no longer requiring my attention in the short term.
Every academic Extranormal Witch’s insight and ability far surpassed what I currently possessed.
Previously, they needed me because this ability belonged to me. They could choose any form of freedom for themselves, but they didn’t do so.
When I chose to give them such freedom, I also gained my own. This was a reciprocal exchange and cooperation; I did not restrict their rights.
I do not regret handing these things over to them in an open manner for their research. Time is precious; even if I lavishly spend it accompanying someone else, I share in their honors of research and innovation while reaping the benefits of their achievements; this is a win-win situation.
If I attempted to grasp everything in my hands, then this would not constitute a proper collaboration, but rather unilateral plunder and exploitation. They are not my followers, nor are they my slaves; they are the Extranormal Mentors of Witch Academy.
At this moment, as I stopped by a classroom window, peering through the glass at a familiar silhouette sitting there seriously studying like a student, I was taken aback.
In the end, I curled the corners of my mouth into a knowing smile; Sister Bai was truly adorably sneaky in some respects… secretly taking a love class without telling me?
That’s quite an idea!
At this moment, the instructor lecturing in the classroom also noticed me outside the window. After making eye contact, she responded with a friendly smile as if she could read my thoughts.
“There’s no threshold in love; why stand by the window? If your beloved other half is in the classroom, my class welcomes you to join us~”
With this sudden remark, many students in the classroom followed the teacher’s gaze to look outside, and with one person suddenly shouting loudly, they quickly incited the rest of the class to join in the cheering.
Meanwhile, Bai Yu also realized something was off; but when she turned around, there was a rare hint of panic in her eyes.
Seeing Sister Bai’s expression, the embarrassment of the ruckus melted away somewhat.
I adjusted my collar, which was not even messy, confidently walked to the classroom door, and stepped inside.
My arrival instantly raised the noise level to a climax, eager gazes seemingly searching for which lucky (or unlucky) girl’s boyfriend made it to this large classroom.
After entering, I politely bowed to the instructor and indicated that I would cover the costs for this class later on since these classes were generally paid.
Upon receiving permission from the instructor, my gaze had not shifted from Sister Bai. Amidst the noise, I walked straight to her little corner, which had now become a spot of envy among the others.
“Sister Bai, sneaking behind my back to prepare for class; turns out you were secretly indulging~” I teased her in a voice only she could hear and then sat down contentedly next to her.
As the instructor on stage gestured, the class’s chatter quickly quieted down.
“Alright~ We’ve witnessed a couple’s arrival. I said my course is suitable for couples to attend together; love has never been one-sided tolerance but requires mutual maintenance.”
“Now! Let’s get into the main topic~”
