Chapter 55: Witch Meditation Method
Time flies.
In the blink of an eye, I have been working part-time in the bakery for several days. Although I’ve mostly been slacking off or called to wash dishes, life has been quite fulfilling.
Moreover, I’ve started practicing some pastry baking techniques.
These days, I have also asked my senior about extraordinary matters, such as the meditation methods that have been on my mind.
Finally, under Ying Shiqian’s recommendation, I’ve opened a new area in the academy—the library.
It’s not surprising that there is a library in the academy; after all, it’s a place for teaching, and the collected books, materials, and documents naturally need a place to be stored.
There, I found various materials related to meditation methods, and I specifically went to get a library card, which cost me quite a bit of money.
Additionally, borrowing books on meditation incurs extra fees, but unfortunately, I don’t have time to read them at the library. However, many books are free to read on-site.
So, I took them to the bakery to read, as I often find it boring, so it was a great way to utilize my free time.
“Xiao Han, why are you working so hard? I’ve already graduated, but your behavior is putting huge pressure on me,” Ying Shiqian said as she walked over, venting her negative emotions in a slightly troubled tone.
“Maybe I’m just really curious about the extraordinary? I want to experience it for myself.” I looked up at Ying Shiqian, who was leaning in front of me; she is also someone who enjoys slacking off like me.
When the store manager is not around, she completely slacks off, and when the manager is there, she flirts with the manager, shielding me from a lot of harassment from him.
“Who would actually be curious about the extraordinary? It’s such a torturous thing…”
“Maybe people are different.”
I smiled knowingly, probably understanding what she meant. It’s like someone saying they enjoy studying; even if there are people who genuinely do, they are still a minority.
In this world, everyone has heard about extraordinary matters to some extent. Although they haven’t entered the Extraordinary Academy and cannot access extraordinary powers, they are still influenced by it and accustomed to it.
I can see that the academy does not leak channels for experiencing extraordinary powers, as they must have considered cultivating ordinary people’s curiosity about the extraordinary. Only by generating curiosity and a desire for knowledge can a positive influence on future interests be achieved.
But even so, it cannot compare to my craving for the extraordinary, having lived in a world without extraordinary powers from the very beginning.
“Indeed, you must be the kind of person who learns really well, right? I’m so envious~ After you become an extraordinary witch and graduate, you must come back and tell me about the wonders of the outside world.”
“My grades aren’t that good, so don’t think too highly of me,” I humbly replied. However, it’s true that my grades aren’t particularly great, but I still became interested in the outside world that my senior spoke of.
“How could that be? I don’t believe your nonsense. The new students these days are really something else; there’s even a full-score genius this year. The competition is so intense. Xiao Han, don’t you feel the pressure?”
“What pressure? I’ve never even met them. Why should I give myself trouble for no reason?”
“Such a good mindset.”
“It’s not just a mindset issue, senior. Didn’t you just mention the world beyond? What else is there outside? Other worlds?”
I tentatively led the conversation, although the transition was a bit awkward. I was indeed very curious and wondered if there was the world I came from before the crossover.
Probably… not. Otherwise, I really wouldn’t know where to go.
To be honest, I really like this world with extraordinary powers. Although my childhood wasn’t that great, the second childhood only added another sad phase to the low points in my life.
“I’m not too sure; these things are only revealed after you achieve becoming an extraordinary witch. After all, what’s the use of telling you in advance? If you don’t achieve extraordinary status in the end, wouldn’t that just add to your worries?”
“That does make sense.” I flipped through the pages and continued to study the Witch Meditation Method.
Seeing me like this, Ying Shiqian decided not to disturb me further and ran to the kitchen. I glanced at Tang Yihan, who was still busy, hoping nothing unexpected would happen.
After all, just a few days ago, I witnessed Ying Shiqian suddenly scare Tang Yihan, causing the materials to be all over the place.
In the end, under Tang Yihan’s threat of force, Ying Shiqian tearfully took on the cleaning duties for the day, along with a thorough cleaning of the kitchen.
I shifted my focus back to the meditation book. Indeed, the difference between the Witch Meditation Method and the theoretical meditation I learned before is significant.
If the meditation I’m studying now is formal meditation, then the theoretical meditation knowledge I learned before the entrance exam was simply powerless language descriptions and fanciful frameworks.
The Witch Meditation Method describes a very abstract state aimed at refining mental power into a higher quality “mental power thread.” Only in this way can one interfere with magic power, a high-energy force, according to the life level.
Even the increase in the amount of mental power in this is considered an additional effect.
However, after understanding this, I initially thought that most of the discussion in the meditation methods would be about how to refine the mental power threads.
But when I officially started reading, I found that it was still discussing how to enter the “meditation state.”
It deeply analyzed the concept of the meditation state and the subjective extension of the mental space while in that state, among other things.
I felt this wasn’t something for beginners; how could this be something someone who has never encountered the extraordinary should know?
Moreover, I also saw various things that need to be integrated when attempting to meditate.
For example, specific audio tracks, meditation images to aid viewing, and even expensive incense, and so on.
There are even higher-level meditation hypnosis techniques to help beginners understand what kind of state meditation is.
Just the few pages in the book describing the state required for meditation are quite challenging for me; it requires a high level of control over one’s own body and mental state.
In simple terms, it’s about self-control.
The Witch Meditation Method has many stages, and the first stage is “entering the meditation state.” Just the first step is enough to be listed as a stage, highlighting how high the entry threshold is.
But I’m not afraid; if there are difficulties, then I will try. If I don’t give it a shot, how will I know?
Since I want to try, it naturally requires spending money. After all, attempting meditation without the aids described in the book would take me who knows how many years. I have a clear understanding of my own talents.
Although I often force myself to maintain confidence, I still need to recognize when it’s time to be self-aware.
