Chapter 62: The Slightly Expensive Meditation Room
I carefully took my still warm incense burner away from here.
The aura and charisma that the senior exuded made me feel somewhat uncomfortable; it wasn’t that I didn’t like her—on the contrary, I really liked her. However, I was clearly aware of this mental anomaly, which caused me to instinctively resist.
After leaving, I felt much more at ease.
Even sitting in the car, I felt quite relaxed, leisurely studying the incense burner in my hand.
But after my research, I concluded that it was just an ordinary little burner, with the scent of incense still lingering that hadn’t dissipated yet. Although it had faded, it was still quite soothing to smell.
It was almost hypnotic; after only a few minutes of experiencing it in the store, I started to feel a bit drowsy, even yawning repeatedly.
I regretted not taking the car home.
Right, this car wasn’t headed back to the villa but rather to the meditation room.
The meditation room was a large building specifically provided by the academy for meditation, with multiple meditation rooms inside.
But with so many students at the academy, was just this one place really enough?
I remained skeptical about that.
As for the recommendation from Senior Ying Shiqian for me to check out the ceremonies related to the meditation method at the library, I hadn’t gone there first. I wanted to try it myself, to deflate my confidence a little, and then see how that ceremony worked.
Although I acknowledged that this world had extraordinary powers, the concept of a ceremony still felt a bit untrustworthy.
I would consider it a last resort to try when I had no other options.
Soon, I arrived at my destination. It showed a large area on my phone’s map, but in reality, it looked even more impressive than the photos.
Even at this time, I could see seniors coming and going.
It seemed quite lively here.
With curiosity, I walked into the hall. The front desk was spacious, and when I stepped in, I could even hear the echo of my footsteps.
“Um… New student, are you here to apply for a meditation card?”
“Meditation card?” I looked at the senior at the front desk who spoke to me first, asking about the card right away; that was spot on.
“Yes, the meditation card is like a membership card here. If you find it troublesome, you can also apply online directly on your phone. There are many packages—do you need me to introduce them one by one?”
“No, no, thank you. I just want to try out the effects of the meditation room for now; I haven’t thought that far ahead yet.”
“Just a temporary experience? That’s fine. After obtaining the meditation card, you can apply freely. If you have any problems, feel free to ask me directly.”
Upon hearing my request, she became less enthusiastic, but I could understand; it was tough to be working long hours without a break.
After all, I was off work.
“Where can I check that? Is it in the academy’s system too?”
I asked while holding my phone because the various functions in the academy’s system were quite extensive. The library could also be registered in the system, and it even supported some online reading.
“Yes, have you bound your student card yet? If you haven’t, it could be a bit troublesome.”
“I have bound it. Hmm, I found it; no need to trouble the senior anymore.”
“Okay.”
After finding the meditation section in the system, I smoothly saw the reservations for the meditation rooms.
Indeed, it was a reservation.
It seemed the meditation rooms were indeed insufficient, but I checked and saw that there were still available spots, which relieved me.
The reservations categorized the meditation rooms, just like hotels that have regular suites and luxury rooms.
After a brief look at the differences, I discovered they varied in the level of service provided. They even included thoughtful photos for reference.
There were basic options for regular and high-end meditation rooms, as well as custom reservations for special requirements.
After glancing at the prices, I directly gave up on the latter; it obviously didn’t suit me or my wallet.
I decided to look at the most ordinary meditation room, which ranged from fifty to a hundred for an hour.
Yes, even the most ordinary meditation room charged by the hour. Although the photos didn’t make it clear why the meditation room was worth that much money, I certainly didn’t want my money to go to waste.
I checked the time; although I had wasted some time at the incense store, it was still early by my usual sleeping schedule.
I looked at my balance, then at the time again.
In the end, I chose the top option for the regular meditation room at a hundred.
Actually, there wasn’t much choice; it seemed these were the only options left. If I hadn’t been quick enough, they would have been gone.
As for the duration, it would naturally be two hours; after all, the incense I bought only lasted about an hour, leaving me one extra hour for a final bit of struggle.
After making the reservation, my phone popped up with many notices, like not disturbing the meditation experience, etc. The staff wouldn’t proactively disturb the users, and if there was an overtime, I should pay on time.
If I took more than 24 hours, I would be forcibly evacuated, and I had to keep that in mind.
I could also set a timer in the meditation room; if I didn’t set it, I’d need to keep track of the time myself.
After reading through the lengthy notices, I received my number: 01032.
“Um, do I find it by myself?” I asked the senior at the front desk again.
“Yes, this number is on the first floor, room 32. It’s easy to find; hurry up.”
“Okay, thank you.”
After a quick thank you, I went straight in. Walking to the back, I realized it was a straightforward long corridor with rooms lined up tightly; they seemed to make full use of the space.
I wasn’t sure if it was my illusion, but it felt even bigger inside than what I saw outside.
Soon, I found my number hanging on the door.
With just a light swipe, the door opened easily.
Upon opening the door, a faint scent of incense wafted in, subtle yet lingering.
After stepping inside, I found that this so-called meditation room was even smaller than I had imagined, lacking any extra furnishings.
There was only a floor covering and a shoe removal area.
The marks of prolonged use on the floor indicated that this place had been used many times.
Naturally, I didn’t mind any disdain; I immediately placed my little incense burner on the floor. Coincidentally, there was a designated spot for the burner.
Recalling the actions the senior demonstrated for me earlier, I started to unpack the incense and set it up.
This small bag was worth a day’s wage for me, so I certainly didn’t want to waste a single bit of powder.
Finally, after using a special match to light the incense, I let out a sigh of relief.
As the unique smell of the incense floated out, I began to examine the facilities here.
After all, the incense needed some time to take effect, and it didn’t hinder me from doing other things.
