Chapter 670: Meeting and Confrontation
“You! Are you Yang Yuelan?!”
My answer seemed to give him a huge shock, leaving him frozen in place.
“Didn’t you just shout at Sister Bai about kidnapping your own son? Now you’re back to see you old lady, aren’t you? Look at you, trying to make a move right away—how rude.” I released his right hand, still smelling of smoke, and used the Cleaning Spell to tidy it up with some disdain.
I’m a good kid; I don’t smoke or drink.
“You… do you think I’m blind? Can’t I tell whether my child is a boy or a girl?! Or are you just a pervert!”
“When your wife gave birth to your first child, didn’t you differentiate between a boy and a girl? Or were you too foolish to figure that out?” I countered with a smile.
Although I didn’t know who I had swapped with, since Sister Bai said it was a girl, I wondered how they would react to this boomerang.
But soon, I got my answer: there was no reaction at all. Perhaps his brain just couldn’t comprehend my sarcasm?
Indeed, some insults that require a brain aren’t suitable for people who lack common sense.
“Get out! What my child is does not require your concern; get away from my doorstep! If you don’t leave, I’ll call the Security Bureau!”
“The Security Bureau…” Sister Bai and I exchanged glances; I still had some impression of that institution. Though I hadn’t interacted with them much, they were the ones responsible for maintaining law and order in the outside society of the Main World.
I vaguely remembered that when Sister Bai and I left, they seemed frantic and even ran to the Security Bureau to help find people.
However, the Security Bureau is also comprised of graduates from various Extraordinary Academies.
For instance, in the case of Witch Academy, the personnel of the Security Bureau are roughly on the same level as the “Wei Ji Team” within the academy. One maintains order and discipline inside the academy, while the other maintains safety in the real world.
Yet, the Security Bureau is one level lower than the Wei Ji Team, requires a much larger number of personnel, and wields vastly different power.
Members of the Wei Ji Team retain their Extraordinary Powers after graduation, as this is fundamental to maintaining Witch Academy’s discipline.
The Security Bureau does not retain such powers since they monitor ordinary people.
If they encounter students from the academy, they have the authority to contact and cooperate with the Wei Ji Team inside the academy, as it falls outside their jurisdiction.
“Well… in your eyes, the Security Bureau might be the highest level you’ll ever encounter in your life.” I shrugged helplessly, tilting my head to look at the scene behind him, “Aren’t you going to invite us in for a seat? Sister Bai has been our neighbor for so long, and you haven’t even offered her a cup of tea.”
I swung my hand, an invisible force pushed him aside, and then Sister Bai and I swaggered inside.
“Get out! This is my home… I didn’t let you two into my house… uh, uh! Er…”
“Mind your language; who knows, you might live a little longer…” I directly cast a Silence Spell on him.
I had heard enough swearing; after being berated for so long during phone calls, I couldn’t cast Silence Spells over the phone. Now that I was offline, I certainly wouldn’t let them pollute my ears again.
“Oh, almost forgot, you’re already a disaster; disasters last for a thousand years, no wonder your mouth is so foul—turns out you’re not afraid of d*ath.”
As I passed through the entrance into the living room, the noise from the argument outside naturally caught the attention of the people inside the house.
After all, it was hard not to attract attention with two “live humans” in the living room.
But at this moment, the man seemed terrified, clutching his throat. He didn’t know what had happened; he just knew he couldn’t speak!
Not being able to speak meant he had become mute. This kind of situation was like the sky had fallen down for a mentally fragile ordinary person!
“Who are you two, and why are you in our house! Old smoker! Why are there two girls in the house! Have you lost your mind?!”
“You’re so noisy; with that menopause temper, be careful not to d*e early, and you should pipe down,” I cast another Silence Spell casually and then ignored them.
Sister Bai followed me, looking pleased. She was a bit worried that Xiao Han would hesitate when meeting her “parents” again since Xiao Han would often be interfered with by too many unnecessary factors when it came to certain principled matters.
But unexpectedly, this time, Xiao Han had really thought it through and acted decisively. Even a simple Silence Spell was much better than a muddled compromise and entanglement.
As I walked past them, they panicked and pulled out their phones to call for help, knowing that in a crisis, calling the Security Bureau would help sort things out.
This was breaking into a private home! And even attacking ordinary people!
As the call to the Security Bureau connected, a customer service representative’s voice came through, but they quickly realized they could only make some meaningless sounds, leaving the other side helpless, forced to use unconventional communication methods.
They couldn’t even communicate what was happening or even their location!
At that moment, Sister Bai noticed their small actions, but she didn’t pay much attention to their reporting.
It was just the Security Bureau; even if she wasn’t there today, just Xiao Han’s position as a Teaching Assistant could overshadow them!
Meanwhile, I strolled into the study because I remembered they had hired a new tutor for this remaining good son.
With the college entrance examination approaching, students were under increasing academic pressure. Their “son” couldn’t maintain the same ideals as before, and they were anxious but helpless. They couldn’t study for him; if they could learn, they wouldn’t have let it get this far. So they decided to hire a tutor.
However… hiring a tutor at this stage was quite imprudent.
Even more surprising was that these two managed to find a double holiday job, which was quite unexpected.
But even with a double holiday… it merely better urged their child to study.
When I opened the door to the study, two pairs of bewildered eyes looked up, but in the next moment, both were horrified!
“Oh, I said life is full of uncertainties; if you don’t experience it firsthand, you wouldn’t know how many coincidences there are in this world.” I looked at the two people in the study, a girl and a boy, one sitting and one kneeling, a tutor and a student…
They were both utterly shocked.
Most shocked was Yang Yunhan, as she realized that the girl pushing the door was the “big shot” who had been surrounded by school leaders yesterday, inspecting the school, and had even lingered at his classroom door for quite a while, even mentioning him!
Recalling yesterday’s awkwardness and the subsequent conversation after class, and now seeing him kneeling, he felt a sense of relief, as if he had been saved… but that feeling quickly faded.
Why?
Why would someone like that, someone whom even the principal had to bow to, appear in his house?
A home visit?
This question seemed to have no answer, but at least he felt that nothing could be worse than it was now!
“You! Who are you?! Why did you suddenly burst in?!” At this moment, the young “tutor” frantically stood up from their seat, losing all their previous arrogance.
“Oh? You really don’t know my name?” At this moment, I was the quickest to accept the reality and twist of fate, looking at this tall woman. Even though I was nearly a head shorter, my aura didn’t lose out.
My gaze inadvertently swept over the Fortune Threads floating above her head, and her concealed identity came into view.
She was a player.
“You… how would I know your name?”
“Then I’ll introduce myself; I’m the Catastrophe Witch. I wonder if you can recall any memory of me?”
As soon as I finished speaking, she no longer cared about her image and turned to escape through the window.
But there was still a reaction that preceded hers.
That was my field.
With a surge of Knowledge Power, countless annotation seals left on her body like maggots.
At that moment, she had completely become meat on a chopping board for me to butcher.
But since she was a player right in front of me, I naturally didn’t want to waste her by killing her off immediately; I definitely still could find a way to utilize her again, provided she stayed online.
“Your strength is lacking, Missy—looks like your running speed can’t match my speed in catching you,” I lifted this female player by the back of her collar. At that moment, she was sealed by my Knowledge Power technique; even though the power she wielded was on the same level as my Great Spellbook, it was still no match for the firmness of my sealing technique.
Everything I did happened in a very short time, and at this moment, Yang Yunhan, still kneeling by the side, appeared utterly dumbfounded!
The hammer he held slipped from his hands and fell to the floor.
“You just go and smash things because someone told you to? If someone told you to commit s*icide, would you dare to do that?” I looked down at Yang Yunhan, who was now crying, and questioned him in a deep voice.
If I were in his shoes, and someone handed me a hammer to destroy my cherished possessions…
Ha! What a joke!
The hammer was now in my hand; at the moment I lifted the hammer, whether it fell on my cherished objects or his head… it was merely a matter of thought.
“You’re still as cowardly as before.” I bluntly stated.
In the past, he would often seek existence in front of me, and whenever he cried, his parents would back him up. He knew that his parents hated me, so he never thought he had lost, but the “wins” he perceived were merely illusions created by his parents; he personally had never won.
Once I disappeared from their sight, he became the family’s failure, a vent for their frustrations, and all his shortcomings were laid bare without my presence to contrast with.
He never knew what it was like to be strong; his growth in life had vividly portrayed his cowardice.
At this moment, Yang Yunhan, still crying, began to realize something was wrong—before?
He held back the tears and tremors brought on by his sobbing; perhaps this behavior was how he considered being strong.
“Still haven’t recognized me? My foolish little brother… I’m the brother you’ve never called by name, Yang Yuelan. But now you should call me sister.”
“Yang… Yang Yuelan?!” He seemed to hear a lie he had never encountered, and the shocked expression could not convey the turmoil and collapse inside him.
“No! It’s impossible! You can’t be Yang Yuelan! Impossible!”
In that moment, his previous weeping turned into hysteria. He refused to accept that his brother possessed such tremendous strength, such terrifying abilities, and had that… terrifying identity that even the principal…
The world in his eyes was suddenly and utterly destroyed; this extreme contrast was beyond his capacity to accept!
Yet within him, even subconsciously, he couldn’t deny that his “brother” had indeed become a girl… because in his understanding, this matter was, in fact, inconsequential…
“Admit it, I’m your former brother, now your sister, but that doesn’t matter.” I chuckled lightly, unaffected by his collapse.
“Don’t worry, I won’t do anything to you. I came here to settle our grudges, not to settle yours. But this guy, you don’t have the right to deal with him; he’s beyond your reach.” I shook the player in my hand; she seemed unwilling to log off, her pain perception synced off as she watched the drama unfold.
But I didn’t mind her watching the spectacle.
After giving this foolish “formal” brother some words of advice, I left.
Now it was time to deal with the grievances between me and those two.
In fact, this relationship was truly fragile, so weak that it could shatter at a touch. I wanted to sever ties from within my heart, and it was easy to do.
After leaving the study, I handed the player over to Sister Bai, while I lazily sat beside the sofa.
“Alright, you two can sit down.” I looked at the two somewhat disheveled individuals, who once… “raised” me, not “nurtured” me, and felt a bit… heh, perhaps a hint of nostalgia?
But I didn’t know what this sentiment was—whether it was a positive or negative affection… at any rate, it definitely wasn’t familial love.
At this moment, the two of them were compelled to sit on the sofa opposite me with an invisible force that left them no choice.
Now… their faces had turned from previous arrogance to fear and unease faced with Extraordinary Power.
Bullying the weak and fearing the strong; that was all it was.
“I suppose you both understand my identity by now? I’m Yang Yuelan, the ‘mentally disturbed son’ you once exchanged for your daughter.” I smiled lightly as I said something that terrified them, but I wasn’t finished yet. I took out my phone, “I wonder how much you think our relationship is worth right now? The Inferior Demon Academy offered fifty thousand back then… is that enough?”
As soon as I finished speaking, a notification sound came from their phones.
“Transfer… fifty thousand… has been received.”
The notification meant to remind them of the payment felt exceptionally harsh!
“Seems like that’s not enough, heh heh~ Of course, after spending so long together, how would I not know your appetites?” I continued browsing on my phone.
This ordinary money held little value for me now.
However, dealing with individuals of different statuses, using my worthless possessions to achieve what I valued was worthwhile from any perspective.
I wasn’t catering to their cravings; I was cutting off the last remaining ties in my heart. Since it was for myself, why would I hold back?
“One million, how about that?” I raised the stakes further.
