Chapter 707: Rules and Calculations Among Extraordinary Races
Witch Academy.
A meeting convened by personnel at the extraordinary level from various academies ultimately ended in discord.
The initiator of this meeting was the Abyss Demon Academy, an institution not participating in this joint hunting expedition.
As a “top-tier” academy that has initially established a foothold in the Main World, they also have designs on the Expanding Realm. They actively sought to join this joint examination and hunting event but were turned away by the Witch Academy.
After all, the qualification requirement for participating academies in this joint examination is to establish a stable teleportation channel in the Expanding Realm through their respective students, which is a hard prerequisite and a rule set by the witches.
Initially, the Abyss Demons outright refused to assist with the restoration of civilization in the Expanding Realm, but hearing of potential benefits, they came back to try their luck.
This attitude was swiftly rejected by the witches.
Then, the Abyss Demons, exhibiting their relentless nature, continued to entangle themselves with the matter.
Recently, they had managed to persuade other extraordinary academies to plead on behalf of the Abyss Demons.
This meeting was representative of that conflict, with the Witch Academy as the sole opposing side against others led by the Abyss Demons.
The meeting ended unhappily, and neither side achieved the meeting’s objectives.
The restoration of the Expanding Realm is under the purview of the Witch Academy, which holds absolute authority over its development.
Otherwise, why would other academies adhere to the Witch Academy’s rules and go through the complicated process of establishing teleportation channels under the guise of student exchanges?
These extraordinary beings could easily open spatial passages between the Core Realm and the Expanding Realm, but they cannot do so.
As for the reason, the witches would tell them that their rules are just that—rules!
The Abyss Demon Academy, in fact, does not want to perform the work themselves, yet still wishes to stretch their hands into the Expanding Realm to benefit.
Their excuses are quite flimsy, such as claiming they played a part in the restoration of the Expanding Realm or that they brought along a Small World with them, even boasting about a share of Extraordinary Knowledge, and so on.
But the Witch Academy does not buy it and maintains a tough stance.
These bargaining chips were already used back when they established themselves in the Main World.
However, the thick-skinned individuals were undeterred; hence the term “Abyss Demon.”
Moreover, they managed to gather other extraordinary academies to line up behind them.
From the perspective of the Witch Academy, the academies supporting the Abyss Demons only qualify to enter the Expanding Realm because of their permission; yet, they band together to pressure the Witch Academy… is that not amusing?
Nonetheless, a very practical issue arises: the Witch Academy must seriously consider their position. While the others may not have the power to influence the sovereignty of the Expanding Realm, they do have the capability to create trouble and disrupt it.
Such continuous trouble and harassment will persist until the witches decide to turn against them.
What does turning against mean?
It means that in the Main World, no one can tolerate the other any longer, returning to the only path of speaking through power, reasserting who the unchallengeable boss is—this is turning against, and it is a result no one wishes to see. After all, if an extraordinary war breaks out, there will inevitably be losses, and the Main World may further descend into destruction.
However, the Witch Race does not fear such destruction, as they possess the skill to repair the world’s earth veins. As long as they ensure there is space left for restoration in the Core Realm, they are willing to go to full-scale war.
But such actions would simply waste the development time and opportunities of the Main World, so the Witch Race will not turn against the table unless absolutely necessary.
This kind of “endurance” from the witch tribe is precisely the “leeway” that other extraordinary races will constantly strive to gain.
Or perhaps this is the “art of negotiation” they speak of, as they test the witches’ bottom line bit by bit.
During this meeting, the Abyss Demon Academy constantly emphasized that if they are not granted entry into the Expanding Realm, they would attempt to forge their own qualifications to infiltrate.
The Witch Academy responded firmly, daring them to reach out, they would have their hands chopped off!
Which hand would be chopped off would be determined by which one they extend.
Even if the Abyss Demons weave grand illusions, presenting the world defined as a “Game World” to the Main World as a contribution to its restoration, it still incursed the wrath of the Witch Academy!
Because they had already used that bait when settling in the Main World!
Of course, if it were only for this, it wouldn’t be enough to infuriate the Witch Academy. What truly enraged them was the leak of information regarding the world marker for that Game World in the Void!
It is highly unlikely that the Witch Academy would perform such an act, and the only ones capable of doing so would be the Abyss Demons, followed closely by other extraordinary academies.
After all, the witches had long regarded this Game World as part of their territory, even making agreements with numerous extraordinary academies through the Witch Contract to ensure that extraordinary beings could not intervene and relying on players to drive societal reform in the Main World’s Core Realm, among other plans.
Now, with the other side leaking information, the Witch Academy found themselves in a tight spot.
After all, the Witch Academy intended to rely on Xiao Han’s uniqueness and the constraints of the contract to effortlessly reap the rewards from the Game World.
However, just when they were not ready for harvesting, that world was leaked, exposing the vulnerabilities in the contract rules where personnel outside the agreement could act—mainly because the witches had overestimated the capabilities of these guys…
Even with the presence of the “Extraordinary Witch” mark on that Game World, scaring off many races, as the leak of the Extraordinary Non-Interference Contract signed between the witches and other extraordinary races occurred, numerous extraordinary races began to stir.
Perhaps they would not dare to openly seize the witches’ possessions, but… secretly engaging in underhanded actions is quite easy.
For example… aligning the Void Forces with this world, synchronizing information with the Void, enabling the other side to transition from a state of ignorance to one of embracing the Void Powers.
This might not change the ultimate outcome of this world, but once the world realizes the situation they are in, they will begin to frantically attempt self-rescue.
With the Extraordinary Witches being unable to directly intervene due to the Witch Contract, such behavior indeed brought substantial trouble for the witches. The most immediate implication is… that the leaders of this world will recognize the foolishness of sending players to the Main World.
As long as the Void Races do not fully disclose the truth to the inhabitants of that Game World and instead package themselves as “allies” extending a helping hand to this world, they gain an indirect power to oppose the witches.
Moreover, the development of this world is built upon a solid foundation of Extraordinary Knowledge!
And this is not just a singular piece of knowledge, but a complete system of Extraordinary Knowledge developed as a civilization!
Furthermore, this was accomplished through technological means, even giving rise to embryonic forms of fields—indicating that this core knowledge of Extraordinary Knowledge represents an “inheritable power”!
Faced with the impending demise of their world, a civilization would go to great lengths for a slim hope.
If handled correctly, this nearly fully developed Extraordinary Knowledge could be within reach.
This is the predicament the Witch Academy currently faces. Even though the witches wield great power, the ubiquitous scheming still served as a lesson for them.
At this meeting, effectively, only the Witch Academy and the Abyss Demon Academy spoke. Although other academies had representatives come to side with the Abyss Demons, they merely expressed an attitude; the real performance still relied on the Abyss Demons themselves.
It is precisely because this is an unequal negotiation that it ultimately led to an unhappy conclusion.
However, sometimes meetings are not aimed at achieving a win-win but rather at fulfilling a specific purpose.
The Infinite Abyss, as a particularly special world or force, means that the Abyss Demons can only represent one side of the power.
The unique nature of the Infinite Abyss has created a “great market” for the Void as a life race, continuously nurturing unique life due to its peculiar environment; thus, the Infinite Abyss remains a breeding ground for “new life.”
What does new life represent?
A brand new race that is recognized by the Void and the potential original spells related to transformation and summoning that that race might research.
Thus, the Infinite Abyss is a great marketplace for life.
The research on Knowledge Seeds requires vast amounts of life consciousness from the Sea of Consciousness, nurturing Knowledge Mother Trees to condense Knowledge Seeds, which is to procure the “breeding carriers” from the Infinite Abyss.
The great market of the Infinite Abyss can even customize “life” for its “guests” based on their needs, as they possess too many Void life templates, and even non-Void recognized biological templates are available.
Therefore, the Abyss Demons have enough bargaining chips to carve out a share of the pie in the Main World. They resemble the foolish son of a nouveau riche family, trading what seems the cheapest to them for what they desire.
Although this meeting and negotiation ended unhappily, who can say this is not another form of “mutual benefit”?
At least the Abyss Demons gained the suggestion that they could invade the Expanding Realm without being held responsible by the witches; they simply lacked the “name” that other academies possessed.
What does this represent?
The Abyss Demons are not allowed to enter the Expanding Realm; should they invade, other extraordinary academies will drive them out under the pretext of combating the intruder.
However, the extraordinary academies led by the Witch Academy will not pursue deeper accountability for this incident.
That is, only condemning, without taking action.
This is a mode the Abyss Demons are quite familiar with.
The Abyss Demons can engage in invasions up to the limit of being beneath the extraordinary, meaning that this is an alternative that adheres to the “Extraordinary Non-Interference Principle” in a “fair competition” guided by their academy’s students.
……
After the meeting, the extraordinary beings dispersed.
“Looking at you not saying a word during the meeting, are you not worried at all?”
At this moment, a figure walked over and naturally started a conversation with Bai Yu.
“Huh?” Bai Yu looked up at the slightly unfamiliar witch before her, somewhat surprised, but still replied, “Worried about what?”
“Worried about your little girlfriend, of course?”
“What do you mean?”
“It seems like you are not too clear about the current situation, so to put it directly, your little girlfriend might be in danger~”
“Xiao Han in danger?” Upon hearing this, Bai Yu immediately became alert, as Xiao Han is her sensitive spot; no one is allowed to touch her! “Isn’t Xiao Han participating in the joint examination hunt right now? With so many teachers watching over, what danger could there be?”
“It seems you still do not understand? Right now, those races are causing a ruckus, and Xiao Han is one of the instigators. Not mentioning how talented and monstrous she is, just considering her current achievements, as long as she becomes a true Extraordinary Witch and earns the honor of connecting with the Void world through the Knowledge Sharing Technique derived from the Great Knowledge Tree, that would be enough to nominate her for the title of Honorary Truth Witch…”
“……”
“Do you think I’m joking?”
“No, I believe Xiao Han can handle this honor.”
“You have a lot of confidence… oh no, you have a lot of faith in that little witch named Xiao Han, but she is still just a little witch at the moment. Although I’ve heard that the Primordial Witch seems to have favored her, she will only protect truly extraordinary witches. Therefore, before her promotion, this will be the only opportunity for those extraordinary races to stop the witch race from advancing again.”
“The only opportunity? If they try to do that… they will bear the wrath of my anger.” Bai Yu replied calmly and resolutely.
“Even if what you face is an entire extraordinary race, or even multiple extraordinary races? Hmm… a pure revenge subject transformed from an ordinary topic of the witch… sounds intriguing.”
“If possible, I would prefer not to become the person you described. Also, if there’s nothing else, I will take my leave. From you, I feel a kind of vibe that I am not fond of.”
“Ah, no wonder you’re a Body Cultivation Witch~ Is that Heart Sense? Then you should have a rough guess about what kind of witch I am, right?”
“…Betrayer Witch.” Bai Yu glared deeply at the witch before her before speaking.
“Correct~ You should not hold any biases against Betrayer Witches, right?”
“At least not at the moment, but that doesn’t mean I won’t in the future.”
“I already warned you that your little girlfriend is now in danger, and you still don’t have any goodwill towards me?”
“None necessary. I trust Xiao Han.”
“Oh? Is this the trust bestowed by love? Alright, alright~” The witch wore a defeated expression.
“The more you say these things, the more I start to question your intentions. Although you are indeed the first Betrayer Witch I’ve encountered, I have read about what your group of Betrayer Witches has done in the past. I advise you not to touch Xiao Han.”
“Ah… misunderstandings are bound to arise. Fine then~ I won’t speak any further, but before I leave, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Sheril Owen.”
“A name that feels insignificant~ Like you, I too have great faith in Xiao Han and her future, but I hope her power can contribute to the great cause of the Witch Race. For this, I am willing to offer my meager strength~”
“Sheril Owen… I will remember you.” Bai Yu repeated the name, silently noting it in her heart.
