Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School – Chapter 73

Chapter 73 The Fifth Heavyweight Member

After tasting the red velvet cake, Tan Han stood up and started browsing through various items, even picking up interesting little cookies to try for herself.

I was a bit envious of Tan Han; if the store manager told me I could eat anything here, I wouldn’t have tried as naturally as Tan Han did.

I also wanted to go up and introduce these new products to Tan Han, but she refused, wanting to try them herself.

I didn’t stop her since, after all, new items displayed upfront at least wouldn’t taste as bad as that cake earlier.

However, there were indeed some things here with more intense flavors; I hoped she wouldn’t end up trying those.

These strongly flavored items are usually packaged as mystery boxes in bakeries because they are inexpensive and offer novelty. The sales for this baking mystery box were pretty good, but of course, that was in comparison with other pastries.

Since Tan Han wasn’t chatting with me and I had nothing else to do, I had to pick up a Cleaning Spell to tidy up the store. I must say, the Cleaning Spell is really a remarkable skill to some extent.

It can be used not just to wash dishes and clean up trash and dust, but also to keep oneself clean, and so on.

If it weren’t for my habit of showering, I could almost rely on the Cleaning Spell instead. I would even clean my dirty clothes with the spell before tossing them into the washing machine—not for any other reason, but just to ensure the clothes are wet before drying, giving them a sense of ceremony, letting them know they’ve been washed.

“Xiao Han, is this… magic?”

Just as I was cleaning the floor until it could reflect light, a voice startled me from behind. I hadn’t expected this quiet honor student to take the initiative to talk to me.

“Phew~ You scared me! It’s indeed a spell; it’s called Cleaning Spell, quite a practical magic.” After calming down, I didn’t complain but continued to explain to her.

“You can use magic already?” Tan Han asked with a look of surprise.

“Um… I can somewhat. Actually, using spells is easier than you might think.” I nodded in acknowledgment, but I didn’t want to give her the wrong idea, as using a spell and mastering it are two different concepts.

“I know; it’s from a spellbook.”

“Ah? You know?” I was surprised. I didn’t expect her to be aware of it.

So the last fool was me?

I had been thinking about how to explain the concepts of spellbooks and spell slots.

“I know a little. My senior who was with me these past few days talked to me about that.”

“That’s great…”

I sincerely sighed. How come I didn’t have such treatment while being led by my senior these past few days?

But wait, I also have Sister Bai!

Unfortunately, I didn’t ask about these things back then, as I had no concept of them, so there was no reason to inquire.

Seeing me openly envious, Tan Han seemed to want to explain but ultimately didn’t do so; on one hand, this kind of thing didn’t really need an explanation, as enjoying such treatment reflected one’s own value.

On the other hand, it was because Xia Li’s voice had already come from behind, indicating that the store manager was done with her tasks.

“Yihan, really! You didn’t even tell me you were taking the club application form; I searched for it for half the day.” Xia Li’s voice contained a hint of helplessness but did not open her mouth to blame.

“But you didn’t tell me you were looking for this! How was I supposed to know the manager wanted it? Besides, you could just have asked me to do it; I used to handle these things.” Tang Yihan’s voice followed right after.

Soon after, a few figures appeared before us.

“Xiao Han~ Come, I found the application form. If you really decide to join the bakery, come over and sign it!” Xia Li waved at Tan Han with a smile.

Upon hearing Xia Li’s voice, I instinctively thought she was calling me, but after seeing Tan Han move, I froze.

My eyes were filled with disbelief. Tan Han also wanted to join the bakery?

Was she brainwashed by Xia Li?

Didn’t she know the bakery’s situation? There were only four of us, including myself!

What was she after?

Could it be the store manager’s small treasury?

I had a sense that the ordinary knowledge in the small treasury might not be safe anymore; otherwise, I couldn’t figure out how the store manager attracted Tan Han—was it by charisma?

I certainly didn’t see it.

However, I could tell that the store manager was financially generous; no matter how many flaws she had, at least she paid me!

And she did it so promptly yesterday.

Who could complain about their salary?

Where can you find such a good boss?

“Senior Xia, just call me Little Tan; actually, that’s how my family has always called me. I’m a bit unaccustomed to being called Xiao Han.” Tan Han said as she walked over to the store manager.

I was genuinely touched by Tan Han’s declaration, but it didn’t stop me from following along to take a look.

However, when I saw, Tan Han had already filled out the form without hesitation. This speed was unbelievable. Wasn’t she going to think about it?

“Alright~ Congratulations to Tan Han for becoming our bakery’s fourth…”

Xia Li wanted to congratulate Tan Han as soon as she filled out the form, but she was immediately interrupted by Ying Shiqian and Tang Yihan.

“Manager, just to clarify, she is the fifth member! I forgot to tell you something.” Ying Shiqian rushed to explain beside Xia Li.

“Ah? The fifth? How come I didn’t know?”

Now it was Xia Li’s turn to be confused. As the bakery’s manager and the club’s president, how could she not know?

“It’s Xiao Han! Yang Yuelan, we just added her to the club this morning, and we were waiting to tell you when you arrived.”

“Xiao Han?” Xia Li turned her doubtful gaze toward me, then looked at Ying Shiqian and Tang Yihan, seemingly asking what was going on.

“Come on, manager, don’t just pay attention to Tan Han! You really don’t care about your employees at all! Yesterday, Xiao Han tried meditation for the first time and succeeded! You don’t want a genius like that?”

Ying Shiqian looked at Xia Li, who hadn’t reacted yet, and immediately gave her a lecture. To outsiders, it was unclear who the real manager was.

“Um? Huh? What… ah?”

Xia Li exclaimed four times in succession, unable to squeeze out a single coherent sentence, making it evident how shocking this news was for her.

Meanwhile, Tan Han put down her pen, now looking straight at me. At that moment, even Tan Han felt that this was something she had to take seriously.

She originally thought this new student wouldn’t have any interaction with her afterward, so she intentionally kept a certain distance and didn’t deepen their relationship. She had encountered too many people trying to get closer to her, but Xiao Han gave her a different impression—she also tactfully maintained a distance without forcibly contacting her.

The meditation that was just mentioned should refer to the Witch Meditation Method, and she had been exposed to related topics in the past few days, though she hadn’t tried it yet. She had inquired about various information regarding meditation, including time tracking and so on, so she understood what it meant to succeed in meditation for the first time.

Tan Han realized it was her turn to take the initiative to establish a good relationship with Xiao Han. Meditation is the foundation for all extraordinary energy to be used for life; it seemed quite nice to casually make a friend and discuss topics related to meditation.

When the admissions office of Witch Academy called, I was stunned—I had been accepted into a school I never imagined I could touch. Yes, I am a boy and it is an all-girls’ academy, but they did not mind, so I saw no reason to object. I had applied secretly, without telling my family, just to take a chance. But as soon as those striking seniors greeted us newcomers—pressing every boy against the wall with a knowing smile—I realized things were about to spin out of control. “Oh, come now, you sweet little freshman,” one of them said smoothly, her voice full of mischief. “Don’t make this difficult for me, your big sis. Swallow this core and transform into a witch like me, alright?” She held the glowing orb before us, half-threatening, half-teasing, almost inviting the new boys to react. It was clear she enjoyed it—the blend of fear and resistance in their expressions. Our unease seemed to be her personal amusement. After all, they only had this opportunity once a year.
