Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School – Chapter 81

Chapter 81: Ten Thousand for One Time, Are You Interested?

Time flies.

Before I knew it, it was evening, and I had to end my flying practice. After all, the open hours here are limited, and I could only come back tomorrow to practice.

Senior Tu Qingxue told me that I could come to practice whenever I had time, as long as it was still open; she is usually here.

I acknowledged this since I still need to discuss things with a few senior sisters at the bakery. I can’t just skip work all day for my certificate after only a few days of part-time work, right?

It would be quite unethical to not inform them in advance.

Moreover, both sides have no fixed schedule, so planning my time would be wise.

This afternoon, I practiced stationary levitation until the end; this was not low-altitude flight practice but rather a preliminary practice for flying.

I must say, practicing for an entire afternoon really drained my mental power, and I also consumed quite a bit of magic power.

Although the magic source can recover continuously, the consumption of alchemical products isn’t as minimal as that of the cleaning spell.

I felt half a day was enough, but it worked out perfectly—practicing for half a day and then working part-time for half a day!

It provided a good excuse for why I wouldn’t be practicing all day.

After thinking this through, I went straight back to my villa until the next day when I arrived at the bakery.

“Senior Tang Yihan~ Senior Ying Shiqian~ You’re here so early!” I greeted enthusiastically.

Although there were still some morning customers, Senior Ying Shiqian should be able to handle it alone.

Isn’t Senior Tang Yihan doing research on new dark cuisine today?

“Hmm, Xiao Han came quite early too. Where did you go to have fun yesterday?” Tang Yihan asked while busy packaging cakes into boxes.

“Yesterday… Hehe, I wouldn’t exactly call it fun. Did I mention I intended to get my flying license? I tried it out yesterday,” I explained directly, following the senior’s lead. I was originally thinking about how to bring up that I wouldn’t be able to work all day for a while.

“You really went?” Ying Shiqian leaned in. “I thought you were just kidding when Tang Yihan mentioned it.”

“Yep, the tuition for getting a flying license isn’t cheap. Do you need our support?” Tang Yihan quickly thought of something to ask.

“For now, I don’t think so; Sister Bai took care of it for me. Thanks for your concern, Senior.”

“Well, you have a pretty good sister; she even asked us to take care of you more.”

“Yep, Sister Bai is the best person to me. I’m going to change clothes now and will come help later~” I said simply and then went to clock in and change into my uniform in one go.

Today is another busy day.

“By the way, Senior, um, I just mentioned I was going to take the test, so I might…” I leaned closer to Senior Tang Yihan and quietly brought this up.

“Got it, don’t worry about it. It’s not something obligatory.” Tang Yihan didn’t seem to have any issues with this and quickly agreed to my request.

“Great! I’ll get my license as soon as possible and come back to help!” Hearing the senior’s formal response made me feel completely at ease, but I still promised to do it quickly. Although my not being here doesn’t seem to affect the bakery much, I still received a lot of benefits while working here, and that friendship is something to be remembered.

As I busied myself during this time, the number of customers dwindled, with only occasional online orders.

At this point, I found myself quite bored; the book I borrowed from the library was also lent to Tan Han, which made it hard for me to do anything. I could only tidy up the front a bit. Although there weren’t many customers, there still needed to be a neat appearance.

While I was cleaning, someone I didn’t expect walked into the bakery.

“Tan Han? I didn’t expect you to come here.” I said, slightly surprised.

“Why not? I’m a member of the bakery too. It shouldn’t be strange for me to be here, right?” Tan Han’s usually cold expression revealed a hint of warmth. “Have you been here the entire time?”

“Yep, while I’m also a member of the bakery, I used to be a part-time employee here, you know, the paid kind.” I nodded and explained to Tan Han.

“Paid… is money tight for you?”

“Yeah… pretty tight.”

I nodded again in response. However, from Tan Han’s appearance, she didn’t seem like someone short on money. She might even be some sort of lady.

“Well, I have a high-paying part-time job if you’re interested?”

“Eh?” I suddenly looked up, interrupting my cleaning spell. Did I just hear the words “high-paying part-time job”?

“What? Interested in hearing about it? I want to hire you as my meditation teacher.” Tan Han made her request in the face of my astonished gaze.

“Eh? But… we’re both new students, and isn’t it better to hire a senior sister from previous years or even a teacher with that money?” After a moment of hesitation, I ultimately decided not to earn money unfairly.

To be honest, I didn’t know how to teach either. I might not be able to replicate my method again. I should just find an excuse to decline, though it would be a shame to pass up that small amount of money…

“Meditation is a very… profound state. It’s perhaps more like an instinct. Previous senior sisters also can’t explain how to go from nothing to something to those who have never meditated. You are the only person I’ve come across who has recently succeeded in meditation, and your thoughts and experiences are a great inspiration for me.”

Tan Han went on with a long string of words, almost as if persuading me, making me feel like I was something extraordinary.

“But… this…”

“Don’t worry, even if you don’t help me, I’ll still pay you. What do you think?”

“This…” Hearing this, I had to say I was tempted! This was practically free money.

Is she possibly richer than Manager Shali?

“I have no concept of money. How about ten thousand for a session?”

“Ten thousand?” My eyes widened. That’s how much money I’d earn in how many days of part-time work?

“What? Is that not enough?” Tan Han noted the uncertainty in my expression. “Indeed, since this is your insight—you’re a genius who successfully meditated for the first time. This insight is worth much more than ten thousand…”

“Ah! No! I mean, ten thousand is more than enough! Absolutely enough!” I hurriedly interrupted, seeing the direction of the conversation. If I continued, they might want to raise the price, and I wouldn’t feel good about taking that money!

“So, are you agreeing?”

Tan Han looked quite satisfied with my response, even a slight smirk appeared on her face, as if she was assessing me.

Such a straightforward girl is rare. It’s just one thousand that’s got me feeling uneasy! Tan Han stifled her mouth, which was already hard to read, and then opened her mouth with a surprised expression.

“Then be sure not to go back on your word.”

“I… this… well, okay…” After Tan Han said that, I found it completely difficult to refuse.

Ah… why was I so greedy for that ten thousand…

When the admissions office of Witch Academy called, I was stunned—I had been accepted into a school I never imagined I could touch. Yes, I am a boy and it is an all-girls’ academy, but they did not mind, so I saw no reason to object. I had applied secretly, without telling my family, just to take a chance. But as soon as those striking seniors greeted us newcomers—pressing every boy against the wall with a knowing smile—I realized things were about to spin out of control. “Oh, come now, you sweet little freshman,” one of them said smoothly, her voice full of mischief. “Don’t make this difficult for me, your big sis. Swallow this core and transform into a witch like me, alright?” She held the glowing orb before us, half-threatening, half-teasing, almost inviting the new boys to react. It was clear she enjoyed it—the blend of fear and resistance in their expressions. Our unease seemed to be her personal amusement. After all, they only had this opportunity once a year.
