Chapter 813: Experimental Site Arrangement
Principal’s Office.
“Let me see, has Xiao Han caused a big stir again? Why are you hiding it?”
“Why are you suddenly interested in Xiao Han?” Mei Linde glanced at the witch in front of her with an impatient look and asked.
“Are you curious? I am indeed very interested in her. If you don’t tell me, I’ll just go find her on site. They seem to be conducting a small-scale experiment now, right?” Sheril said with a smile.
“You knew that much without needing to pester me for more information, didn’t you?” Although Mei Linde said that, she still pulled out a document.
Rather than tell this Betrayer Witch in front of her, she really preferred that this person not go alone to see Xiao Han.
She suddenly noticed that the Betrayer Witch had been hanging around in her office, seemingly doing something good, at least this way she wouldn’t be creating chaos elsewhere.
“Self-Generated Magic, huh? I know that talent well, but who would have thought a little witch could master something like that? If she can’t become a witch, then I’ll have to—”
“She will definitely become a witch.”
“Then do you want to bet?” Sheril asked with a smile.
“Of course, but the premise is that you have to sign a non-interference contract. Will you do that?” Mei Linde countered.
“You’re just being overly serious—really, I was just joking,” Sheril took the document and laughed, brushing it off.
This document was a summary from Principal Serena Palizel’s visit to the laboratory.
Although it didn’t delve deeply into the principles, it was enough for outsiders to know a key data point; professional matters were best left to professionals.
They only needed to look at a few key issues, such as experimental methods, total time taken, complexity, etc., including the thought process behind the experiment and alternative, universal applicability of these methods.
“Are you kidding me? Is this all there is?”
“If you want to see it or not, do you really want to ask about its principles? It’s good enough that I’m giving you some materials that you can understand; do you want to learn hands-on and try it out yourself too?”
“Hey, hey, hey… is that a jab at me? Are you saying I’m not smart?”
“Are you?” Mei Linde asked in confusion.
“Funny, I really am not that good academically,” Sheril admitted rather generously, seemingly not bothered by her shortcomings being pointed out.
Betrayer Witches often face a lot of misunderstanding from others, but this level of misunderstanding was not enough to break her.
“At least you have some self-awareness,” Mei Linde replied with a roll of her eyes, and then turned back to her own work.
What she was busy with was nothing less than the transformation of the massive viewing magic experimentation apparatus in the laboratory.
The previous viewing magic observational instrument had been very helpful in repairing the Expanding Realm, but after that repair was complete, they modified the instrument to be used for observing the Navel of the World.
Did that mean they didn’t need to continue repairing the Main World?
Of course they did!
However, they encountered challenges; without the Navel of the World, their progress in repairing the Main World could be stalled altogether.
If such an important place wasn’t in their grasp, even repairing the Expanding Realm became very difficult.
They must understand that the current Expanding Realm is merely a Small World for repairs!
Compared to the Main World, a Small World is simply incomparable, yet that was the limit of what they could repair, and it was centered around a tear in the Earth Vein in Ninglan New City.
Thus, there was no problem stating that Ninglan New City is currently the world center of the Expanding Realm.
Without the Navel of the World as a medium, repairing the Earth’s veins was extremely challenging.
After all, repairing a world essentially means repairing its Earth Veins, awakening them.
The Navel of the World serves as the bridge between the world and the Void’s Earth Veins, so without the Witch Academy having control over it, they were quite passive.
Even… after the repair of the Expanding Realm was opened to other academies, it was, to some extent, a compromise.
The incident involving the ambush on Xiao Han was also escalated by the Witch Academy, and ultimately, when the Expanding Realm was completely sealed, the other Extraordinary Academies didn’t say anything about it.
In fact, the witches still hoped that they would voice their opinions, but the three Extraordinary Races really seemed to have tucked into their shells within the Core Realm.
“By the way, can this big guy of yours really help you gather information and locate the Navel of the World?” Sheril quickly flipped through the document and then casually tossed it on the table, her gaze landing on the most extravagant creation in the entire laboratory.
“We always need to give it a try, right?” Mei Linde said.
“I heard that this was also created by Xiao Han. Just what are you all good for? Why do you need Xiao Han’s help for everything?” Sheril sharply commented.
“…”
Mei Linde was momentarily taken aback by Sheril’s words, instinctively wanting to rebut.
Did that mean they hadn’t done anything at all? Why did she only see a partial aspect and make such a judgment on a witch’s tireless contributions?
From the time they entered the Main World to this point, they had developed the Witch Academy to this extent, with countless academic witches dedicated to their projects and research endeavors.
Their contributions in enhancing extraordinary capabilities, developing spells, and innovating techniques aren’t always suitable for grand announcements, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t made contributions.
Even the witches who have spent over a hundred years researching Extraordinary Knowledge without any results, even if they merely held their ground in the laboratory, it was still a miracle…
However, reflecting on so many thoughts in a moment, Mei Linde ultimately did not say a word; though she wanted to speak, all that came out was a sense of sigh.
“Indeed, young little witches are the most energetic and creative; perhaps that is the meaning of the Witch Academy’s existence,” Mei Linde remarked, sincerity behind her words.
If someone does not show exceptional advantages or abilities that surpass their mentors during the preparatory stage to become witches or little witches, then such a person achieving extraordinary witchhood would only be an ordinary witch.
This doesn’t mean that such witches are looked down upon; the Primordial Witches care for every witch, whether they are ordinary or exceptional.
“It’s rare to hear you say something like that… oh, you are the Principal; it seems that this identity you play has deeply affected you.”
“It truly has, perhaps you could consider establishing a witch academy somewhere in the Void; maybe it would change your perspective. Don’t you Betrayer Witches enjoy correcting others? Perhaps it would be better for you to start making changes from the very beginning.”
“That’s very persuasive… but I’ve established a witch academy before, yet it was ultimately squandered by me because I found out that they didn’t seem deserving of being witches, nor did I want to guide them.”
“Perhaps you were just fixated on the children’s shortcomings and didn’t self-examine? Your words and actions seem somewhat contradictory,” the Principal stated.
But Mei Linde understood well why this was so; the Betrayer Witch in front of her likely held a supremacist view of the Extraordinary Witch race.
She could accept that a fellow extraordinary witch made mistakes and would correct them, even if the means were fierce.
However, for beings that are not witches… she would simply consider them a waste of time.
This is a common form of racial superiority within the witch race.
It can only be said that it’s a bad habit fostered by the Primordial Witches.
Yet no witch scolded the Primordial Witches for such behavior; moreover, the Primordial Witches had not done much; she merely maintained an absolute stance within the Grand Library of the Witch World, which deterred other races from daring to step into the witch’s Void territory.
All these were voluntary actions; after all, witches stand on the position of witches to safeguard everything related to them.
When everything stands on the position of the witch race, all problems lose their right or wrong.
At this moment, the conversation in the office did not cease.
The interplay of probing and ideological exchanges between the witch and the Betrayer Witch continued, but perhaps no one noticed the sincerity coming from the Betrayer Witch.
…
Witch Academy Indoor Training Ground.
This was the venue allocated by the academy for the laboratory to conduct small-scale promotional experiments.
After some tidying up, it had turned into an experimental testing ground with a massive area, designed to withstand the rigors of spellcraft.
Soon after, tasks posted on the academy system quickly attracted “volunteers” to come and help.
The reason for such efficiency, of course, was due to monetary incentive!
Not everyone in the Witch Academy could claim to be financially independent.
Even having one or two extraordinary skills, such as alchemy or potion-making, was not surprising among witches, so the prices weren’t beautiful. After deducting material costs, there wasn’t much profit.
As a result, many students took on high-reward public tasks as a form of temporary part-time job.
After all, who wouldn’t want to serve wealthy individuals for quick cash?
Just like there were plenty of wealthy individuals in our laboratory; for them, money was truly just a number.
Of course, this mostly pertains to regular currency; when it comes to Secret Silver or Aoqin, everyone is very much in need.
So as soon as this task was posted, it attracted many participants, especially since it was just to help with minor tasks or chores.
Generally, those who took these tasks were mostly lower-year students, or even new students.
After all, those who had just entered school were all quite strapped for cash, facing such a fresh world in the Witch Academy with too many new things to empty their wallets over and many things they wanted to buy.
Regarding the implementation of such tasks, I have no objections.
After all, trivial matters only waste our precious energy and time; they have important things to do.
I also had important tasks to address.
That task was to go to the Wanlian Arena to communicate permissions – specifically the root network of the Wanlian Main Network Tree and the Power Network.
This was the next batch of permissions after reporting.
Just like the new student competition from some time ago, setting the lowest level of the Power Network at that training ground was similar to this kind of permission.
Although I was the one who sculpted the Wanlian Main Network Tree, currently it serves the Witch Academy, and the Witch Academy was not under my complete control; using it naturally required a permissions application process.
Once they obtained such permissions, they could directly use the root network to project boundary warnings for the experimental area in our training ground, along with identity recognition, etc.
This included clearer guidance for those participating in the experiment within the training area, along with identity tagging, and more.
While the root network does not project a physical form, it is much more convenient for warnings and message transmission.
More importantly, it can connect to experimental instruments for temporary data storage and on-demand retrieval.
Furthermore, here I am, possessing the Great Knowledge Tree, so it can be said that I have the most freedom in controlling the usage permissions here.
I can give everyone a personal information ID account, or even a health bar and blue bar if needed; these are skills accomplished during the earlier game experiment of the Expanding Realm.
Collecting personal information could also interface with Earth Veins and the Earth Vein Identification Technique, displaying relevant data.
“Yes! You all, come over here quickly.” A voice rang out in the training field, and several lower-year female students were called over.
“Coming, Senior! Do you need us to do anything else?”
“Do you know how to play with sand table simulations or something like that?” This senior demonstrated a miniature sand table that had been projected through the root network, showing a three-dimensional image of the training area and nearby surroundings.
“Eh? What do you mean specifically?” The few female students who had dashed over looked puzzled.
“Hey, the projection sand table in front of you is an interactive miniature sand table of the area we’re currently in, powered by the permissions of the root network.”
As she spoke, the girl enlarged a specific area and entered the training ground.
“See? This is where we are standing now, and that small projected figure is us.”
“Wow… this is so detailed? Is this a real-time action feedback?!” The younger girls were immediately astonished by the operation before their eyes.
“There’s a little delay, but it’s sufficient,” the girl casually explained and then got to the point, “I called you over to help set up a warning; our training ground has now become the temporary testing site for our laboratory.”
“In order to ensure that no one idly wandering around destroys our experimental progress, we need to set up warning signals for this area. Simply put, we just need to create warning guidelines, but it’s operated through this miniature sand table.”
After a brief explanation, she framed a warning line around where they were on the sand table, and soon a visible red warning projection appeared in reality, encircling them.
“This is an interactive mode with reality, so don’t mess around; and don’t cause a huge commotion! Although the original practical course in this training ground has been relocated, there will still be idiots who don’t read the news and wander in.”
“Eh? Are you entrusting this to us?”
“Mm, I’ll transfer the permissions to your Knowledge Seeds shortly, and I’ll also teach you how to operate it. You just need to handle the layout and manual monitoring,” the girl said with a smile.
In fact, after setting up those warnings, the area would be able to self-recognize any intruders, and they would just have to guide them away.
As for manual monitoring… it was merely a safeguard.
“Alright.”
“Don’t be unwilling; you’ll get paid more after task settlement.”
“Okay, Senior! We promise to complete the task! Not a single fly will sneak in!” Upon hearing about the pay increase, the young girls immediately became energized.
