Chapter Fifty: Goddess of Toxicity!
Author: Author (诸生浮屠)
The Goddess of Toxicity and the Goddess of Torment once served the God of Slaughter – Baal.
Soren was very clear from the beginning that dealing with Lavita would not be as simple as dealing with the God of the Hunt – Mara, and it might even be more troublesome than dealing with the God of Shadows. According to Soren’s worst-case scenario, confronting the Goddess of Torment, Lavita, could potentially provoke the Lady of the Night, Shar. Lavita had once served the Lady of the Night, but with the resurrection of the God of Tyranny – Bane, she returned under the banner of the Three d*ath Deities, becoming a lesser deity of Bane. Later, Bane was killed under Sherek’s conspiracy, and the Goddess of Torment had once followed the Demon God of Fear, but then wavered between the Demon God of Fear and the Lady of the Night.
The battle on the ground became increasingly intense.
It was evident that the Goddess of Torment, Lavita, was going all out this time, as the army of Modo encountered Drow from the Underdark, which meant that Lavita had even dispatched followers from the Underdark.
The Goddess of Toxicity did not commit all her power; however, there were also many Witherers and Fallen Druids present in Talon City. They excelled at using disease-related spells, and almost all the weapons of the followers were coated with poison, putting great pressure on the army of Modo, especially since the Priests could only focus on casting restorative and detoxifying spells.
“Leave this to me!”
The figure of Gloria rose up in the air, surrounded by seventy-two tarot cards that flew around her. As a Legendary Witch fully supported by Modo City, her equipment and power were even stronger than those of a high-level Legend Wizard. At this moment, Gloria was the main force against the Witherers, while the Fallen Witch was casting slightly taboo spells to eliminate the Druids serving the Goddess of Toxicity. The Goddess of Toxicity had a group of assassin followers because she governed poison, and the Wanderers from Soren were engaged in combat with the others, though they did not hold a significant advantage at this moment.
The Wanderers of Soren possessed stronger shadow abilities and stealth capabilities, while the assassins serving the Goddess of Toxicity were almost all skilled in using lethal poisons.
In comparison!
The casualties in Modo City were even greater at this moment.
The scope of the divine battle was vast, and there were hardly any intact parts left in the entire temple area.
The Princess had initially been engaging the Goddess of Toxicity, but after about a few minutes, she appeared beside Soren, saying solemnly, “Switch!”
“I’ll handle this.”
Soren initially did not know the reason, he only noticed that the Princess’s complexion was slightly pale, and he did not think much about it. He directly turned his target to the Goddess of Toxicity and handed the Goddess of Torment, Lavita, over to the Princess.
The Goddess of Toxicity was a deity who appeared distorted and hideous, as her divine office had corrupted her flesh.
As soon as Soren approached the Goddess of Toxicity, he immediately understood why the Princess wanted to switch opponents.
A malevolent and decaying domain power enveloped him.
As Soren got within range of the Goddess of Toxicity, a row of data prompts immediately appeared before him:
“Affected by the 【Toxic】 domain effect!”
“Triggered a mandatory saving throw!… Constitution saving throw successful!… Will saving throw successful!… Within the area of the Toxic domain, you will take 3 points of poisonous corrosion damage per second!…”
“Affected by the 【Disease】 domain effect!”
“Triggered a mandatory saving throw!… Constitution saving throw successful!… Will saving throw successful!… Within the area of the Disease domain, you will take 3 points of disease corrosion damage per second!…”
………………
Soren passed almost all the mandatory saving throws.
However, even so, when he closed in on the Goddess of Toxicity, he would continuously suffer damage from her divine domain, almost ignoring saving throws and suffering nearly 6 points of negative damage per second. No wonder during the Saint’s Cataclysm period, hardly any adventurers wanted to attempt to k*ll her. This was still with Soren passing the saving throws; if he had failed them, the domain damage that the Goddess of Toxicity could inflict would be even more frightening!
One thing is without doubt.
The Princess’s saving throw resistance was not very high. As a spellcasting female, the Princess was inferior to Soren in all aspects of saving throws.
This was also why she requested a change of opponents.
As a Sorcerer with inherently low resilience, if the battle dragged on too long, she might indeed be killed by the Goddess of Toxicity. However, for Soren, it was much simpler, as he not only had high inherent resistance but also possessed strong burst capabilities. The domain of the Goddess of Toxicity was not particularly difficult for him to deal with.
Talona’s once-beautiful body had been corrupted by the divine office.
Her appearance looked as if she had contracted leprosy, and her body bore strange sores and swellings, which was rarely seen in other deities and naturally represented something unusual.
Firstly.
Talona could not control her divine office; the powers of these two divine offices had already suppressed her being, transforming a deity’s flesh into this state.
Secondly.
The powers of Toxicity and Disease were stronger than they appeared, definitely not simply of weak divine power level. They might even reach medium to strong divine powers, which was precisely why Talona’s body was being corrupted by the divine office.
The Toxic office was somewhat understandable.
However, based on Soren’s judgment, the Disease office should not be merely weak divine power; it was highly likely above medium divine power level, as diseases encompass a great many things. There had once been a plague goddess at medium divine power level or higher.
In order to replenish her divine power, Talona had once unleashed a plague.
This garnered her more hatred from the Agricultural Goddess but also helped her recover much of her strength.
Facing Soren before her, the Goddess of Toxicity had no fear, for in her view, Soren would never escape the label of a new deity. Even if a deity’s level were lower than Soren’s, Talona still believed she had a good chance of victory.
Buzz!
Accompanied by the first tentative engagement, the grotesque Goddess of Toxicity suddenly opened her mouth and spewed forth a swarm of strange insects. The ground beneath her feet quickly became tainted, turning into toxic soil, and all nearby plants rapidly withered. This was the power of a divine office; the diseases governed by Talona not only encompassed intelligent life but also all animals and plants. For this reason, the Earth Goddess and the Agricultural Goddess hated her greatly.
The dark green poison quickly spread.
Even the stones beneath her feet were rapidly corrupted, and the strange insects spewed forth by the Goddess of Toxicity transformed into a dark cloud, swiftly rushing toward Soren, completely enveloping him from all sides.
A sense of inexplicable danger.
Soren sensed a strong sense of crisis from these peculiar insects; his divine-level sixth sense made him realize that these insects could potentially k*ll him!
