The Saint’s Cataclysm has brought the gods down from their lofty heights!
Although there had been struggles among the gods before, the casualties ultimately affected only the church and the believers. But now, everything is different; failure means that deities could fall forever.
The fall of the Lord of Dawn is inevitable.
Because His relationship with the Lord of Radiance is too close, and His power is not strong enough!
As a deity who inherited part of the original divine profession of the Lord of Radiance, the Lord of Dawn, with only weak divine power, could be mercilessly killed by many gods of the Lawful Evil Faction the moment He is caught in a slight weakness in battle.
The Lord of Dawn is dead.
His divinity and part of His divine profession returned to the Lord of Radiance, while another part scattered across the Material Plane.
After this deity fell, all the temples that served Him fell apart within just a few days. The church of the Lord of Dawn was merged into other pantheons, and the believers wasted no time in turning to other gods after His fall. Priests lost their ability to cast divine techniques; under such circumstances, only a very few priests would hold onto their faith, while most would quickly join other churches.
The radiance in the temple has vanished.
When Soren and Vivian arrived at the temple, they found everything inside had been ransacked.
Soren summoned a bit of divine power.
As the [Tracking] divine profession was activated, he observed the temple for a while and then quietly said to Vivian, “It wasn’t raiders that attacked the temple. It was the priests, who originally belonged here, that sneaked in overnight and took away the valuables.”
Even the deity they served has fallen.
Therefore, those priests with weak wills naturally began to plan for themselves; they seized the opportunity to steal gold and silver items from the temple during the night and then secretly left Amber City.
“Brother, Sister!”
“Can you spare some food?”
A little girl, about six or seven years old, appeared before the two of them. She was wearing worn-out clothes mended with patches, though they were relatively clean. She looked up at them with a small head, stretching out her muddy little hand to beg, her eyes a bit timid, but she gathered the courage to stand in front of them.
Vivian immediately felt sympathy for this girl, who was even younger than her, and hurriedly pulled out a pile of food to hand to the little girl.
At this moment.
They then noticed that there were quite a few more children in the corner of the yard, all around seven or eight years old. Upon seeing Vivian take out food, they immediately gathered around.
There were even more orphans here.
It seemed that the gems Soren had left initially did not improve everything. The children’s circumstances were not good; although they weren’t emaciated, there was a bit of color missing from their faces.
The fall of the Lord of Dawn completely destroyed everything.
Anya Lee could only rely on the power of the temple to adopt so many orphans, but when the deity she served fell, everything that supported the orphanage vanished in an instant.
“Let’s go.”
Soren raised his hand and gently patted Vivian’s little head, then said, “Let’s take a look inside the temple.”
Vivian obediently nodded at his words, then held onto Soren’s hand and quietly said, “Brother, these children are so poor! Let’s adopt them and take them to Modo City.”
Soren silently nodded.
The temple inside was initially empty. There used to be a pool in the temple’s front yard, filled with copper that the believers had thrown in, but now it had all been picked clean, leaving only some white pebbles in the pool. The offering boxes for the believers had disappeared, and it seemed that to save lamp oil, the entire temple was dark and unlit, giving it a somewhat eerie appearance.
“Lina!”
A young woman’s voice rang out, followed by a girl wearing a priest’s robe, around fifteen or sixteen years old, appearing. She looked surprised to see Soren and Vivian, then waved to the orphans outside the courtyard.
Then, this young priest said softly to the two, “The Lord of Dawn has fallen in the pursuit of justice.”
“If you need healing with divine techniques, you might have to go somewhere else.”
She mistook Soren and Vivian for adventurers.
Soren glanced at the little girl, a rare smile gracing his face. It was quite commendable that she could still hold onto her faith after the deity’s fall, especially since she was just an apprentice priest.
He walked towards the temple and asked, “Where is Anya Lee?”
Hearing the name from Soren, the little girl looked up in surprise and replied, “Sister went to the Mercenary Guild. The gold and silver items in the temple have been stolen. She needs to take on tasks to support these children.”
At this moment.
She had already recognized Soren since he had come here once before.
Soren nodded, “When will she likely be back?”
The little girl responded, “Probably by tomorrow morning.”
Anya Lee is a priest who also serves as a warrior. Even though she lost her divine techniques, she still possesses considerable combat power. It seems she is indeed working hard for these children; a priest doing mercenary work is quite unusual.
“We’ll stay here tonight.”
Soren took Vivian’s hand beside him and walked into the dark temple.
The little girl seemed to recognize that Soren’s status was not ordinary; she quietly said, “Okay. Please follow me. Uh! The temple has no money left. We can’t light the front hall, so we’re all staying in the back hall.”
At this, the little girl looked a bit embarrassed.
A temple should possess quite a bit of wealth, but unfortunately, some of it had been stolen by other priests, and she was also supporting a large group of orphans. From the little girl’s face, it was evident that she hadn’t been eating well lately. There were still vegetable leaves stuck in her teeth, and on the nearby table lay hard, coarse black bread.
Soren had tasted this back in Amber City; it was like chewing on wood.
Soren said nothing.
As he stepped onto the first step of the main hall, the lights in the temple automatically flickered to life. Even though there was no lamp oil left, a temple that had not fallen into disrepair would always have some light. The everlasting lamps in Soren’s temple burn day and night, and unless the temple falls, priests check them every day.
When Soren stepped into this temple.
In an instant!
The whole temple was illuminated, and all the lights had lit up. However, it was not the lamps that illuminated the entire temple but the radiance visible to the n*ked eye.
As Soren’s figure entered the temple, the radiance automatically manifested.
The temple, which had already become dim and lifeless, was suddenly covered by divine light; this was not from the Lord of Dawn but from Soren himself. As a deity walking among mortals, any temple would sense him, especially an unclaimed temple, unless he deliberately concealed his divine identity.
On the other side.
The young girl was struck with shock on her face, as if realizing something; she suddenly felt her legs go weak, and she seemed unable to stand.
Because she understood Soren’s identity.
She thought Soren was a powerful adventurer, but she never expected that he would actually be a true god walking among mortals!
