Chapter Thirteen: King of the Undead – Orcus! [Request for Monthly Ticket] First Update
The unusual movements of Orcus’s army made Soren feel vigilant and uneasy.
Although Orcus’s power has greatly diminished, he remains one of the former three great lords of the Abyss, and even in a weakened state, he is still more formidable than most other Demon Lords.
Of the former three Abyssal Lords, only Orcus remains alive; the Demon Prince, Digomorgen, is needless to say, a victim of his own madness and would not have fallen so easily otherwise. However, although Digomorgen is dead, the 88th layer of the Bottomless Abyss is still controlled by his demons, who firmly believe that Digomorgen will one day resurrect; all they must do is wait for their prince to return. The second, the infamous Lord Graz’zt of the Multiverse, known as the “Six Fingered,” has fallen due to his own reckless pursuits, and there is nearly no possibility of his revival.
Lord Graz’zt is known as the Six Fingered because he has six fingers.
He had countless mad schemes and was the most ambitious of the Demon Lords, yet so far, the most famous thing he has done is only one act.
That act was imprisoning the former Goddess of Wealth, Wokin, during the last turbulent year, in an attempt to escape the disasters of that time. The then first Goddess of Wealth tried to bribe Lord Graz’zt to allow her to return to her divine kingdom through his domain. However, when the Goddess of Wealth reached Lord Graz’zt’s territory, this titan of the Bottomless Abyss unhesitatingly tore up the contract and imprisoned her in his realm. This led to a long imprisonment that caused the former Goddess of Wealth to lose a vast amount of divine power and believers, while also enduring countless horrific humiliations. It was not until 1371 that she was rescued by a group of adventurers, but by then, her power had significantly weakened.
This event was an unspeakable humiliation for the deities!
Therefore, when the Arcane Empire rose and trade and wealth regained dominance, the former Goddess of Wealth launched a wildly vengeful attack against Lord Graz’zt.
It was during that time that Lord Graz’zt fell.
The specific war is no longer recordable, as the destruction of the Arcane Empire also took away the first Goddess of Wealth; now, the Goddess of Wealth is a member of the upper echelons, reportedly serving as the vessel for the resurrection of the former Goddess of Wealth.
Nobody cares to verify this; perhaps the current Goddess of Wealth retains the memories of her predecessor, but ultimately no one cares who she really is.
Orcus has the most deaths yet also the highest number of resurrections among the great lords of the Abyss.
Currently, he wields power over the 113th layer of the Bottomless Abyss, Thanatos. This layer is exceptionally cold, filled with ice, thin air, and skies draped in gloomy moonlight. This layer belongs to the Tanar’ri demons and is equally claimed by undead creatures— in fact, this layer has slight characteristics of dominating negative energy. Nevertheless, infernal moss and fungi still grow along the edges of rigid frozen soil. Various types of gravestones, both imaginable and unimaginable, dot the frozen landscape, some standing alone, others gathered together randomly, resembling a small graveyard. Undead creatures abound, including Demon Spiders, bl**d Giants, and all kinds of Liches. Many ordinary soldiers are primarily zombies, ghouls, corpse demons, and other decaying beings loyal to darkness.
Orcus commands the largest undead army in the Bottomless Abyss.
…………
Bottomless Abyss, Third Layer.
Orcus’s army maneuvers are challenging to conceal from others; the evil spirits active in the upper levels of the Bottomless Abyss spotted it almost immediately and reported to Soren.
A vast army of hundreds of thousands of undead entered the first layer, the Ten Thousand Abyss Plains, not joining the battlefield of the bl**d War but instead approaching the portal leading out of the Bottomless Abyss. This situation was exceedingly strange and evident to anyone observant.
Soren was equally on alert.
He could not sit idly by; he needed to take the initiative to understand Orcus’s intentions.
Thus, he sent an assassin demon along the route of the River of Underworld to the first layer of the Bottomless Abyss to assess the situation while he himself disguised himself as a Furo Demon, quietly approaching the 113th layer of the Bottomless Abyss.
It was an exceptionally cold plane.
Most demons did not enjoy this place because the temperature was too low, the air very thin, and the landscape filled with visible ice.
This is the realm of the undead, and also their paradise.
As soon as he arrived in this plane, Soren, transformed into a Furo Demon, encountered a horde of zombies.
They did not attack Soren but quickly surrounded him, and then a high-ranking ghoul with an intelligent appearance stepped forward and said to Soren, “Furo Demon? You have been summoned by the great Ghoul King – Doreisen! The even greater King of the Undead – Orcus is in need of expanding his army.”
“Are you ready to follow us? Or would you prefer to feed these zombies a hearty meal?”
The threats of demons have always been so straightforward.
Soren, displaying high acting skills, appropriately revealed a hint of nervousness and anxiety before saying, “Summon? Are you preparing to join the Abyssal bl**d War? If it’s a bl**d War! I’d rather not join because no one can return alive.”
The most famous aspect of the Bottomless Abyss is the bl**d War, with hardly anyone returning alive.
The high-ranking ghoul thought for a moment and then replied, “Of course not! Our target is the Material Plane! You know? The rich Material Plane! Where you can freely destroy and slay! Rather than fighting those damned devils.”
In the Bottomless Abyss, most creatures consider the bl**d War to be a terrifying meat grinder.
Soren immediately said, “If that’s the case, I can join you.”
Appropriate joy and desire; most demons in the Bottomless Abyss are filled with greed for the Material Plane, as if it were an amusement park.
The surrounding zombies parted to make a path.
Then the high-ranking ghoul said, “Then follow me. Ahead is a portal opened by a Lich; we can directly teleport to the military camp and then straight to the Ten Thousand Abyss Plains.”
The Bottomless Abyss is a land of chaos.
In this place, recruiting an army is without reason, and even Soren’s demonic army, aside from the core members, is mainly recruited from the wilderness. The factions of demons change quickly; they serve powerful leaders, and as long as one is strong enough, even spies sent by enemies can quickly become loyal servants.
For example, the succubi maids by Soren’s side are now even willing to allow him to implant Soul Marks on them.
They also fully informed Soren of the situation of being sent to secretly monitor him, but for demons, betrayal is far too easy. (To be continued ~^~)
