Chapter 30: Summon Heroic Spirits!

This was an incredibly difficult battle.
The high-level demons under Soren felt as if they were confronting the Elite Devil Legion, with the scene before them akin to a meat grinder, making them almost believe they were on the battlefield of the Abyssal bl**d War.
However, even so, not a single demon retreated, for madness, greed, and bloodlust had consumed them. All the demons knew what occupying this place would mean. It meant that Balroth Fire Demon Lord – Soren would become the new powerful Demon Lord of the Bottomless Abyss and could even potentially become the overlord of the Bottomless Abyss. In this case, the status of these high-level demons would rise correspondingly; as they occupied multiple layers of the Bottomless Abyss, the most common task for Demon Lords was to appoint Lesser Demon Lords, which was a rare opportunity for the vast majority of demons.
The structure of the Bottomless Abyss was like that.
The birth of any Lesser Demon Lord came at the cost of countless corpses, and given that many layers had masters, the number of Lesser Demon Lords that could be born was extremely rare.
One demon after another fell.
One undead after another was torn apart.
The entire battle lasted a full day, and when the undead in front of Soren finally began to thin out, Soren pulled out His final trump card.
——”Heroic Spirit Legion!”
A group of demon believers serving the Lord of Shadows gathered together.
In the Bottomless Abyss, many demons followed and believed in Evil Gods. Whether it was the Spider Queen or the Goddess of Misfortune, there were many demon believers. These demon believers were different from ordinary demons; they were under certain constraints and would automatically drift towards the faiths of their deities.
A gigantic altar had been completed.
The demon believers were primarily comprised of succubi, treacherous demons, and temptresses. They held a grand bl**d sacrifice ceremony, after which a dark red portal opened at the rear of the battlefield.
Teams of demon hunters emerged from the portal.
Since Soren took control of the Divine Kingdom, the demon hunters had transitioned into the Divine Kingdom, with now five to six thousand in number. Following the demon hunters was the Heroic Spirit Legion. Many soldiers had perished in the Material Plane of Modo, and their souls were reborn in the Divine Kingdom, transforming into a new batch of heroic spirits. Subsequently, a team of otherworldly divine servants appeared; these otherworldly messengers with gray wings soared into the air, leading the Heroic Spirit Legion to launch the final assault on the undead.
The mighty Heroic Spirit Legion began to advance.
Their combat power was even stronger than that of the demons. Although their individual strength was roughly comparable to the demons, these heroic spirits, after all, came from the armies of Modo.
Though they had died, they retained a portion of their memories and combat skills.
The Heroic Spirit Legion resembled an elite demon troop; they advanced steadily and coordinated perfectly, possessing something that demons utterly lacked.
That was—discipline!
The destructive power unleashed by thousands of heroic spirits in battle matched that of over one hundred thousand demons. They sliced through and tore apart the undead before them like harvesters, and although casualties still occurred, the ratio was vastly smaller than that of the demon legion.
Some of the chaotic and mad demons had already charged into the enemy’s rear.
As these high-level demons executed a flanking maneuver, they inadvertently formed a pincer against the Heroic Spirit Legion, and the otherworldly messengers had even greater combat power than Balroth Demons. Their gray wings blended into the shadows as they continuously slaughtered the liches and ancient vampires visible in their line of sight. These otherworldly messengers had been granted divine power by Soren, and they were all at least high-level legends, with a few reaching demigod status after the battles in the Kingdom of Fear. These otherworldly divine servants were a formidable force, with the only drawback being that they could not remain outside the Divine Kingdom for too long, and each time they left, they had to expend divine power accumulated in the Divine Kingdom.
Balroth Fire Demon also stepped onto the battlefield.
Soren wielded a flame whip over fifty or sixty meters long, and in the other hand, he held a gigantic beheading sword as he charged into the midst of the undead.
An ancient vampire was slain by him, and immediately after, another high-level corpse wizard entered his field of vision. By this point in the battle, there was no room left for technique; the enemy was the fearless and pain-free undead, and the final combat became nothing more than a bloody war of attrition.
Until night fell.
Soren could see that all the undead before him had fallen, and there were demon corpses scattered everywhere nearby. His legion had also paid a heavy price.
“Roar!”
A fervent cheer erupted.
After the vast majority of the undead had been slain, the high-level demons under Soren let out frantic howls.
Soren spread his enormous demon wings, soaring into the air, and roared, “We have won! From today onwards, this place belongs to us! From Thanatos to Narathiel, all of it is our territory!”
Roar roar roar!
Cheers of enthusiasm echoed from all directions, even the stupidest demon knew they had triumphed.
A vast territory.
They had conquered a layer, paying a heavy price to finally take the 113th layer of the Bottomless Abyss.
“Master!”
The tall figure of the Succubus Boss appeared behind Soren, her leather armor stained with bl**d, indicating she had joined the battle. She knelt on one knee before Soren, saying, “About fifty percent of the Demon Legion has fallen! However, we gained a substantial number of soul crystals. We should recover soon.”
“The goblin demon sorcerers found countless rare materials in the warehouses of Narathiel, as well as over a hundred legendary-grade soul crystals.”
“We have captured some liches’ soul jars.”
“They are now sealed around the portal. It’s best for Master to deal with that first!”
Liches were not that easy to k*ll.
Unless killed by divine power, liches might very well resurrect.
Fortunately, the liches of Narathiel were bound here, so their soul jars remained preserved in the deepest parts of the castle.
“I understand.”
Soren nodded upon hearing this. In this battle, nearly half of his demon legion had fallen, with over one hundred thousand demons lost to the undead. However, the gains were equally immense, with a vast quantity of soul crystals not only able to transform more demons but also allowing his legion to advance in droves.
For Soren, a battle, no matter how brutal, meant more mid-level and high-level demons would emerge as long as they were victorious in the end.
This was a process of streamlining the demon legion.
The fight and slaughter allowed demons to rapidly level up, and nearly half the casualties indicated that after the battle, tens of thousands of demons would enter the mid and high-level domains. These demons would become the main force of the legion, with more than half of the high-level demons under Soren having leveled up in battle rather than being recruited from elsewhere, making these demons more loyal and obedient to commands.
“Clean up the battlefield.”
Soren’s figure ascended as he prepared to check the lich’s soul jars and the harvested legendary soul crystals.
