Abyss Domination – Chapter 149

Chapter 136: Snow and Wind Everywhere

2014-12-20

Author: Floating Tower

In the midst of the wind and snow,

A slender figure dressed in a snow-white mink coat advanced slowly, her steps so light that she left almost no trace on the snow. The biting cold wind and icy snowflakes, upon approaching her body, seemed to hit an invisible barrier, then spread out and fell around her. This was the protective energy field of a wizard, and it was likely that only a high-level wizard could so lavishly use spell slots in such a manner.

The woman wore very little; apart from the mink coat, she had on a form-fitting, snow-white robe that revealed her alluring silhouette, and her legs were clad in black stockings, which at first glance appeared to be made of something other than surface world silk. The protective energy could block the cold wind and snow, but it could not stop the overall cold climate of nature. If she were not a professionist with an exceptionally strong physique, she must have been bolstered by a resistance-type spell.

“Damn it, Druid!”

The woman’s appearance was strikingly enchanting, and if Soren were here, he might feel a hint of familiarity, though he couldn’t say for sure if he would recognize her. Her hair had turned a light purple, her pupils were deep blue, and she seemed entirely different from her former self. However, some characteristics remained, such as her tone of voice, the fragrance she emitted, and the stockings on her legs. The enchanted stockings made from the underdark spider silk were not something even a high-level wizard would frequently sport.

This was Gloria’s mother, that enchanting yet wicked woman.

She walked across the cold snowfield, lightly wiping the sweat from her forehead, then looked up at the skyline, seemingly preparing to cast a flight spell.

“This damned weather.”

The enchanting woman cursed with frustration and continued forward; the weather was just too cold. The biting wind was too fierce, and casting the flight spell required protective spells, for the higher she flew, the more piercing the cold wind became. Even for a high-level witch like her, she couldn’t use her spells recklessly. She had to reserve spell slots for combat emergencies.

A sound seemed to come from the distance, and the enchanting woman looked back, muttering hatefully, “These persistent guys! The Fear Worshippers roam around without a care, yet they chase me across half the world! Didn’t I already say I wouldn’t continue with forbidden experiments? Once I reclaim my experimental subject, I will make you stubborn fools pay!”

A glimmer of spell light appeared.

The enchanting woman’s speed suddenly increased; even a normal step seemed like a full sprint, almost matching the swift acceleration of a professional athlete’s hundred-meter dash.

The cold wind grew stronger.

An eagle was forced down from the sky; in the face of nature, even professionists were not fearless. The Druid transformed eagle could not fly freely in this icy realm. Against the might of nature, even legends could find themselves at a loss. The Druid landed for a moment, then frowned and gazed into the distance, muttering, “Where did that natural destroyer escape to? She must not be allowed to get away; her existence is a disaster for nature.”

Three legendary Druids working together could not repair the destruction she had caused. The enchanting woman was already at the top of the Druid blacklist! Where she had conducted her spell experiments, there would be terrifying energy radiation left behind, as if she were a “humanoid self-moving nuclear fusion reactor.” No one had been able to destroy the natural environment as much as she had in the recent few hundred years.

The biting wind grew increasingly severe.

The enchanting woman walked out for several dozen kilometers when suddenly she seemed to feel something. She cast a spell upon herself, and a contour of an eye made of spell light, invisible to the naked eye, appeared above her. In the next moment, her expression slightly changed; she uttered a phrase in the dialect of the northern region, roughly translating to ‘What the hell,’ then murmured, “Silver Moonwalker?”

“Could they really hate me this much? Sending a quasi-legendary Druid to hunt me down isn’t enough; they even called in the Silver Moonwalker?”

She considered using the teleportation spell, but that spell shouldn’t be used recklessly.

Wizards weren’t prepared with teleportation coordinates in advance. Randomly teleporting could cost one their life. If one teleported into a rock, the rock wouldn’t automatically give way, resulting in two possibilities: one could crash into the rock at super extreme speed. The speed of a space passage was very close to the speed of light; no matter how one tried to reduce speed, they would be smashed to pieces. The other scenario was a spell deviation. If you teleported into a rock, you would be there in the rock too, and your body would merge with the rock.

There have always been instances of wizards who just learned the teleportation spell accidentally losing their lives.

Short-distance teleportation could still be managed; the longer the distance, the higher the demand for a teleportation mark, something even deities couldn’t bypass.

On a towering peak.

The solitary figure of the Silver Moonwalker stood before a steep cliff, her face not looking very good. Who would feel good after letting a professionist at most a third tier escape when they had nearly legendary power? The initial pursuit had gone relatively smoothly, but it had completely broken off after entering the icy plains area, as the opponent seemed to show no signs of resting; no matter how hard she tried to track, she could barely keep up. These days had made her slightly fatigued, and the target’s traces had almost entirely been concealed by the wind and snow.

The longer the time dragged on, the more energy of the Leaf of Life was consumed. Even if she found that wanderer, it was impossible to retrieve that precious holy item. This was a significant loss for the Druids and the Elf Kingdom; the Leaf of Life held the oldest energy. Though that energy was not strong, it was extremely rare and was the only way to imbue their sacred tree with divinity. The existence of the Elven Deity had increasingly accomplished nothing over the years, leading to a sense of dissatisfaction among many.

Many high-level Druids and Elven elders believed it should be time to restore the oldest faith to transform their sacred tree into a true deity. [The belief in the sacred tree of high elves.]

This plan had been set aside for over a thousand years.

Progress had always been slow due to interference from the Elven Pantheon, but recently all deities had fallen into slumber, and even the Elven Deity had been unable to connect with priests. This seemed to suddenly present an opportunity; many Druids believed this was the best time to “revitalize” the sacred tree. Though the sacred tree had not died, its spirit had long since faded with time, and it just so happened that at this critical juncture, the remaining three Leaves of Life had experienced a mishap, with one of them missing.

Time was changing. Customs were changing, and beliefs were also changing.

Suddenly, the Silver Moonwalker seemed to sense something. Her sharp gaze swept down like that of an eagle, and a moment later, a hint of surprise flashed across her face.

She seemed to have spotted a witch infamous among the Elves!

……………

Northern Tower.

Gloria stood at the top of a several hundred-meter-high Wizard Tower. The cold wind blew her long hair, and strands of silver mixed with her silky hair gave her an inexplicable beauty, one that seemed to have settled through the vicissitudes of time. She looked down at the land beneath, like a queen high above, and her territory extended for a radius of 120 kilometers. As a high-ranking member of the Witch Council and the Northern Witch most likely to ascend to legend, she had already touched the edge of quasi-legend before turning thirty. In the future, it was not impossible for her to conquer the peak of the legendary domain.

In the distance, busy fishermen could be seen, as the winter-scaled fish migrated. Their habits were unique; they would only spawn in spring. October was the harvest season, during which the fishermen would use perfectly sized nets to catch and then release the young fish that had not yet grown. For them, Gloria was an exalted existence, instilling more reverence than the lord of Moon River City.

Gloria surveyed the masses below, opened her palm to catch a snowflake, and then let out a soft sigh.

The weather was growing increasingly colder.

She tightened her wizard robe around her and turned to walk back into the tower. A heavy iron golem stood at the entrance, speaking with a sound like metal grinding, “Master, the observation target is still in slumber, but the energy is also stable. The items that were initially damaged have been repaired.”

On the twelfth floor of the Wizard Tower.

Vivian’s small figure lay on a platform covered with soft velvet. Outside was an oval-shaped protective shield.

Gloria stepped onto a magic circle. Her figure appeared directly outside the door, and she glanced at the little girl on the platform, breathing evenly, before frowning and casting a spell light.

She had been in slumber for quite a while.

She didn’t need to eat, but she had not awakened. Occasionally, there would be unconscious energy surges that nearly stirred the Witch Council.

The initial placement had already been destroyed.

Rampaging divine power had almost shattered her Wizard Tower in two. If she hadn’t activated the protective spell in time, Vivian could have destroyed half of the wall.

The power within the little girl was astonishing!

Gloria estimated that she had already exceeded high-level legendary standards (Profession Level 25). Unless there was a way to separate that energy, she would need to remain in slumber for a long time.

Her body was too small and too young.

Yet the power within her was already stronger than that of an adult giant dragon. Unless she transformed from a mortal into a demon, there was no way to integrate that power.

The divine child could transform their form.

If Vivian transformed into a high-level demon or the progeny of a demon god, she should be able to merge with that power, but the little girl seemed to resist and struggled against that power. She was still a mortal, with no traits of a high-level demon or abyssal demon god; Gloria also did not know how to allow a mortal to absorb such an immense divine power!

She was at her wit’s end.

As a nearly legendary Northern Witch, Gloria was not yet a legendary wizard, and she had not touched upon such a mysterious realm.

Unless she ascended to the legendary level, she couldn’t even analyze the structure of divine power!

……………

In the Frozen Kingdom.

Soren stepped out with a somber expression, the middle-aged priestess following closely with a tense face. The others appeared incredibly grave, and for a long time, no one spoke.

The news they received was terrible!

Not only had the followers of the Goddess of Torment come here, but even her elect had arrived in the Frozen Kingdom.

The divine elect.

Naturally legendary professionists!

One seemed to be from the Underdark, bearing some traits of the Drow elves, but no one had clearly seen her face; she was a powerful wizard.

She had also arrived here over half a month ago. (To be continued ~^~)
