Chapter 140 Vampire’s Touch

Author: Floating Tower
A very powerful instant spell.
But this is not the strongest ability brought by Evil Divinity; within Soren’s innate abilities, there is an even more perverse instant spell.
This commonly seen innate spell of Evil Divinity is—[Vampire’s Touch].
“Vampire’s Touch [Innate Ability]: You have successfully merged with Fear Divinity. When activating this innate ability, you can condense negative energy to erode the life force of your enemies and temporarily transfer it to yourself. After activating this ability, any enemy directly touched by you will lose (3*spell strength) health points, absorbing a maximum of 60 health points. These health points will be transferred to you and heal your injuries; if it exceeds your maximum health, this health energy will be retained for 1 hour, additionally increasing your health limit. The effects of this spell cannot be stacked, and the opponent may d*e directly from complete loss of life force.” [Once per day.]
This is Vampire’s Touch.
One of the most powerful low-level spells in the necromancy category!
Soren can now activate this innate ability to absorb over 30 health points from his opponent at once. This health can be used to heal his injuries; if he has no injuries, it will add temporary health on top of his own and can last for 1 hour. If he takes damage later, this temporary life force will be consumed first to recover the damage received.
This spell is relatively difficult for a wizard to use.
Because wizards need to keep their distance in battle, it is challenging to touch the enemy up close; however, for a wanderer like Soren, encountering the enemy is just a simple matter of time.
An instant touch!
Vampire’s Touch takes effect. The enemy loses over 30 health points, while Soren gains over 30 health points.
This back and forth totals over 60 health points, equivalent to instant healing from severe injuries!
………………
The abilities attached to divinity are quite complex.
First, there are the attribute bonuses brought by the divinity itself; Soren is still 7 points away from divinity. If he gathers enough, he can enhance to [Weakened Divinity], adding +1 to all attributes. Secondly, the innate abilities brought by divine energy vary according to the divinity itself; for instance, the divinity of Good Factions is mostly divine healing spells. Instant blessing spells, buff spells, and so on. The divinities of Evil Factions are primarily damage spells and negative energy absorption spells.
Fear Divinity must have Fear innate abilities, followed by the ‘Vampire’s Touch’ provided by Evil Faction divinity.
Soren had suffered greatly from this before!
If not careful and getting hit by the opponent, he would instantly lose over 50 health points, putting him into a critically injured state, while the opponent would recover completely.
This innate ability is the main reason for his adventures to absorb divinity!
A single ‘Vampire’s Touch’ has the potential to turn the tide; even facing higher-ranking professionals, Soren is unafraid in direct combat.
The gap between deities and mortals is this vast.
The divinity of a Saint, when manifested, allows for almost all spells below level 6 to be instant, and some powerful deities can even cast level 9 spells instantly.
The specialties on them have increased to an astonishing degree!
………………
Soren slowly walked out.
Outside, two or three northern men were casually chatting. They had relatively fair skin but large pores, with thick body hair, and their physique was noticeably more robust than that of southern people. This was a general store. It looked like they also sold some food and drink, and there should be spare rooms available for lodging upstairs. In any case, it was an ordinary business mostly mixed with local elements. Soren saw three children who looked somewhat similar; two boys and a girl, all quite young, with chubby little faces that were probably their kids.
Raising three children indeed requires earning as much money as possible.
Soren nodded slightly, glancing at the men outside. He reached into his pocket and pulled out ten Gind coins, which he handed to the man who was clearly the shop owner.
“No… not so much!… Too much!…”
The large northern man seemed a bit embarrassed, muttering: “That noble lady has already paid!… She directly paid for a week’s accommodation and meals!…”
Soren smiled and said, “Take it. This money is my gratitude.”
The finances of the civilian class are not very ample, but there aren’t too many places to spend money; otherwise, adventurers would not be able to earn enough money to retire comfortably in one go. Ten Gind is not a small amount for them; it’s enough to pay for three children’s school fees to learn to read and write for a year, grasping some basic knowledge. The plump proprietress next to him was clearly signaling, and the northern man hesitated but still accepted the ten Gind; he only earned that much in two to three months, accumulatively.
“Thank you very much.”
Soren nodded slightly and turned to walk outside.
This seemed to be the edge of Ice River City; in the distance, he could see tall city walls, with many scattered areas near the city, which they counted as outsiders.
Not quite country folk, but also not city residents.
The ground still had a lot of ice and snow, but he could see half-sized children fishing nearby; to the right of Ice River City was a river that had already frozen over.
Fish in the river are quite scarce; here it has been overfished, and the schools of fish are basically gone.
Soren looked up at the sky and then walked toward the city; he needed to part with some jewelry, conveniently sell spoils, replenish consumed materials, and purchase a few needed spell scrolls.
Although he felt that Vivian was safe, Soren still wanted to see her soon.
Without her by his side, he felt an emptiness in his heart.
………………
On a wide avenue.
A coachman drove a specially made carriage forward, nearby followed by seven or eight fully armored knights, clearly capable guards. They rode smaller northern horses; these horses are not big, and their fur is dense. They may not have the strength of southern breeds, but their endurance is top-notch. The draft animals used here have adapted well to the environment, and occasionally one could see robust reindeer. Northern horses are expensive, and the upkeep is more significant, only wealthy nobles can use them.
“Gerlina.”
A girl’s crisp voice came from within the luxurious carriage. She seemed to be complaining: “Why can’t I take that person with me? He looks like a really powerful adventurer!”
“Maybe he can tell great stories? The books say that such adventurers have many tales!”
Then a serious female voice echoed, slowly saying: “Princess Anna. You should pay attention to your words and actions; your noble status represents the dignity of Arendelle, and you should not associate with those greedy, dirty, murderous adventurers. In places without laws, these people can very well turn into a group of bandits!”
“You have already saved his life; if you hadn’t encountered him, he might have frozen to d*ath in the snow.”
The girl seemed not to have heard her speak at all and tilted her head, murmuring: “Books always say that princesses meet fallen knights, and then these knights fall in love with the princess and help her reclaim her kingdom, fight against evil villains, and slay giant dragons. That person may not be a knight, but maybe he is a truly formidable adventurer? Recently, there are often adventurers replacing knights as the protagonists in stories.”
“I finally picked up an adventurer, but you’ve made me lose him!”
A middle-aged woman named Gerlina seemed quite upset, her face stern, saying: “First, Arendelle has an immensely powerful princess; no one can threaten Arendelle. Secondly, he is not a knight, and he may not be a strong adventurer. An experienced adventurer would not let himself get into such a predicament, besides, he doesn’t seem to have encountered any terrifying enemies.”
“Lastly, the princess is about to ascend to the throne.”
“Princess Anna, can you imagine the expression of the princess when she sees an adventurer you picked up from the road?”
“I think you wouldn’t want her to be angry, would you?”
The charming young girl appeared somewhat downcast, playing with her ponytail using her fair fingers, untwisting the other side of her ponytail into a single ponytail secured with a delicate hair band, and then pouted, mumbling: “I’m just a bit bored. The princess in the books has such a splendid life; she’s not fighting terrifying demons or defeating powerful giant dragons; at least, she has a fantastic adventure. It’s just me who’s locked in a room every day, either learning court etiquette or how to manage a kingdom, learning this and that every day.”
“So annoying!”
The more the girl spoke, the angrier she got, pulling off her hairband that made her pretty hair all messy.
The middle-aged woman beside her seemed a bit helpless, slowly saying: “You are one of Arendelle’s most dazzling pearls! Once the princess is crowned queen, you will also need to manage the kingdom!”
“I think you should read fewer of those lascivious books; they are completely lowly tales spun by bards for naive girls!”
The girl widened her pretty eyes in response, her lovely face puffed up, seemingly wanting to argue back, but suddenly the carriage shook, and everything around became eerily quiet.
The middle-aged woman swiftly and agilely shielded her behind, then pulled aside the carriage curtain to look outside.
The coachman stood rigidly in place, his eyes frantically darting, lips slightly moving as if wanting to say something, but he couldn’t make a sound; all the guards outside were frozen in place, and even the horses seemed like puppets.
—“Mass Hold Spell [Instant]!”
A ninth-level spell.
Nearby there was a near-legend-level wizard or priest who used the [Spell Instant] supermagic specialty to freeze the entire entourage’s guards in place.
