Chapter 160: Hand of Despair!
Inside the Wizard Tower.
An invisible figure was slowly advancing, its method of infiltrating the Wizard Tower unknown. It wasn’t until the figure entered the second level of the tower that Gloria detected its presence. The figure carefully moved along the corner of the wall, as no one would underestimate the power of the Wizard Tower, let alone the various traps and devices within. No one knew how many dangerous devices those mad wizards had installed inside the tower; even a legendary being would feel a bit apprehensive.
Creak!
A faint sound was heard as the invisible figure pried open a door and cautiously entered.
The figure had high fundamental skills, making almost no sound while walking and easily opening complex magical locks. However, just as it stepped through the doorway, a heavy thud came from the wall, and a solid stone door suddenly dropped down. Heavy footsteps echoed from behind in the corridor, the massive form of an Iron Golem slowly approached. A mechanism on the right side of the corridor was activated, followed by a deadly green light shooting out from it.
— “Dissociation Spell!”
The matter struck by the green light directly disintegrated into its most basic structural form. The infiltrating figure trembled, seemingly suffering significant damage. The Dissociation Spell could potentially deal up to 240 points of spell damage; if one failed the Fortitude saving throw, they might be disintegrated on the spot. Even if the saving throw was successful, the spell would still cause around 30 points of corrosive damage, leaving the possibility of partial disintegration.
At the top of the Wizard Tower.
Gloria wore a puzzled expression, her brows slightly furrowed as she said, “Able to infiltrate my Wizard Tower? How could they possibly evade the Dissociation Spell? What about the legendary items they possess?”
A legendary-level Stealth Assassin. It was impossible for them not to have legendary equipment.
Moreover, regardless of the profession they advanced to, Stealth Assassins would master some special shadow techniques that could resist spell damage; there was no need to directly endure a Dissociation Spell unless they had absolute confidence in their own toughness. Otherwise, they could easily be disintegrated on the spot, as it was a d*ath-checking spell determined by spell energy.
“No, wait!”
Gloria’s brows tightened as she said solemnly, “Activate energy laser beams!”
A magical gem device was activated, revealing a red energy laser beam. It cut through everything in its path, swiftly slicing through the corridor and instantly striking the Stealth Assassin. The figure’s body was cut in half in an instant, yet no bl**d flowed out. The bisected body revealed a figure clad in a black cloak with a hidden face, bearing a special emblem on its chest—a pale hand emerging from the ground. Surrounding it was a graveyard of white bones.
“Not good!”
Gloria’s expression changed drastically as she immediately activated a device, wrapping her figure in a protective energy shield, murmuring, “Hand of Despair!? What kind of spell ability is this? Shadow Avatar? True Mirror Image? Or Projection Spell?”
A cold light appeared behind her.
A strange figure suddenly burst in from hundreds of meters in the air outside the Wizard Tower, distorting for an instant before breaking through the tower’s energy protective shield and crashing through the window into the room. The figure’s original body remained outside the Wizard Tower, hundreds of meters in the air, and only upon locating her position did it use special interdimensional traversal techniques to break through the protective energy shield, subsequently smashing through the window to enter.
A pitch-black dagger appeared, and the wailing of wandering souls echoed faintly!
— “Spell Trigger!”
— “Spell Sequencing!”
— “Accidental Spell!”
— “Energy Protection Ring!”
Six spell lights appeared around Gloria, a series of protective energy fields opened, and her figure disappeared from the spot as a blinking spell teleported her ten meters away. The shadow pursuing her also vanished in an instant. A kind of special domain power enveloped the room, and then he reappeared behind Gloria, suddenly swinging the dagger towards her heart. The spell barriers shattered like eggshells, and the dagger struck the weakest point of the protective energy field. At the moment of contact, one spell was dispelled. The next moment, the dagger pierced Gloria’s heart.
A surge of bl**d gushed out.
Gloria’s face turned pale; the deflection field made the dagger slightly shift from its target, and though it didn’t strike her heart directly, it still left her severely injured. The opponent’s strength was more astonishing than she had imagined!
— “Weakness Insight!”
This was a legendary assassin with a profession level close to 25.
The power of the toxin began to take effect.
Gloria seemed to want to cast a spell, but was interrupted by the toxin, a bit of bl**d trickling from her mouth. There were already traces of black in the bl**d.
Interdimensional leap, shadow domain, shadow travel, shadow assassination, deadly toxin, weakness insight, true mirror image.
In an instant.
Gloria’s heart was filled with despair, for the opponent was the legendary ‘Hand of Despair,’ a top assassin who had entered the Legendary Domain over a hundred years ago and had even successfully assassinated a legendary wizard. Although Gloria possessed a not insignificant witch profession level, she had not mastered the Nine-ring Spell; she couldn’t enchant herself with ‘Chain Accidental Spell’ and had no time to cast other high-level spells. The opponent gave her no time to cast at all, as the pitch-black dagger sliced through, aiming at her throat.
From the very beginning until now, the opponent had never intended to infiltrate the Wizard Tower; that mirror image was merely to attract her attention and find out Gloria’s position within the tower.
This was an extremely experienced legendary assassin!
d*ath approached.
Despair filled Gloria’s pupils. As a core member of the Northern Witch Council, she had never been this helpless or feeling so powerless.
A legendary assassin of profession level 25; it had been nearly a hundred years since one had appeared, hadn’t it?
Why would he assassinate her?
Vivian?!
Where is she now? The Wizard Tower couldn’t possibly withstand such an existence!
Unless she also advanced to the realms of a legendary wizard or obtained a Time Stop-type spell, or a legendary spell of level nine or above. There was no way to contend against such an existence. The current controller of the Witch Council, the incumbent ‘Eye of the North,’ was merely a 24th-level Northern Witch; her profession level might not even be higher than that of the legendary assassin before her!
This was someone capable of stepping into the realm of deities.
The moment of d*ath felt so long. Just as Gloria prepared to await the arrival of d*ath, the pitch-black dagger suddenly stopped before her. The masked assassin’s eyes reflected a hint of horror, then in an instant, he transformed into a shadow and vanished from the spot, teleporting fifteen meters away. Gloria suddenly felt drained. She activated an item that temporarily suppressed the toxin within her, then glanced towards the entrance.
Vivian appeared there.
She wore a white princess dress, looking so adorable and charming, her small figure floating in mid-air, but her pupils had turned bl**d-red, with a pair of demonic wings spread behind her.
Her expression was so eerie.
It seemed she was smiling, yet the corners of her mouth revealed a hint of wickedness. It was a mockingly playful smile that was completely different from the Vivian she remembered.
“Tsk tsk!”
Vivian lightly stepped into the room, glanced at the heavily injured Gloria, then turned her gaze towards the Hand of Despair before her, playfully saying, “Finally willing to let me out? If you hadn’t, your sister Gloria would have died! … But even if she dies, it’s no problem! … We can reshape her soul into a new body! … What do you think? Should we turn her into a banshee or a succubus?…”
Gloria’s complexion turned sour as she murmured, “Vivian! … What happened to you? …”
The little girl slowly turned around, raising her pale little hand to toss her long hair. One could see an eerie tattoo on her earlobe. She gazed at Gloria before her, mocking, “I’m not Vivian. I am Lilian, the Fear Witch — [Lilian]!”
“I’ve silently watched that useless guy for eight years. Even after absorbing such vast divine power, she’s still so useless.”
“But I must thank you.”
“If it weren’t for you encountering danger, she probably would never have let me out.”
“Finally free!!!”
Vivian’s small figure floated in mid-air, as if savoring the freedom she breathed in deeply, spreading her little hands as if finding freedom so wonderful, and even the demonic wings behind her trembled slightly. She then turned her head to look at the Hand of Despair before her. A divine light flickered in her scarlet pupils. The corners of her mouth showed a cruel smile as she wickedly said, “Since I’ve come out, according to the agreement between me and that idiot, I will k*ll you, this annoying fly! …”
“I am very trustworthy! … Just like my brother! … Unlike that useless guy! … With such immense power, he can’t even protect my brother! … Totally a complete burden and idiot! …”
The little girl spoke with a somewhat rhythmic tone, as if she were a rebellious girl behaving recklessly.
But she was only eight years old!
That expression, tone, and attitude were hard to describe with words.
If Soren were here, the only adjective he could think of would be — “chuunibyou!”
Vivian revealed a cruel smile. She raised her pale little hand, and a divine radiance appeared in her pupils, followed by a huge surge of divine power erupting from her center, enveloping everything within a radius of thirty meters.
She coldly regarded the Hand of Despair before her, her expression serious as she declared, “Fear Divine Domain!”
— “Time Stop!”
The space around them completely froze at that moment.

(PS: There are only two updates today; I overslept during the day, and will have to wait until tomorrow for the third update. Writing some plotlines in this book is so tiring that I end up sleeping for half a day. I wonder if everyone feels the same after they’re done with their busyness?) (To be continued ~^~)
