Abyss Domination – Chapter 217

Chapter 6: Unrivaled Chaotic Dance

2015-01-14

Author: Floating Tower

Under the cold moonlight.

Two guards from the Rosad Merchant Association were patrolling. As the Merchant Association stored a considerable amount of goods, the defenses here were always strict. At this time, fatigue had already set in, and the two older merchant guards were chatting about which brothel in Taro Port had prettier courtesans. Typically, those who made a living through violence would transition to more stable jobs as they reached middle age. Young guards would accompany the merchant caravans at sea, while these more seasoned individuals remained behind for security because they were more experienced.

The shadows in the darkness twisted.

The older guard, possibly around forty, suddenly stopped, sensing danger; years of combat had sharpened his instincts, and he almost immediately prepared to draw his weapon. Unfortunately, it was too late. A gleaming curved blade pierced through his back, nearly emerging from the front. Then, another curved blade swung toward the other guard, cleaving his head in half. Because it was done with the left hand’s strength, Soren couldn’t sever the head entirely; he merely snapped the vertebrae, leaving a patch of flesh still attached to the neck. The bloody head hung on his back, only a couple more centimeters would have severed it completely.

Blood gushed out in large quantities.

Soren coldly raised his leg to avoid making significant noise by stepping on the fallen body. He gently pulled out his curved blade and dragged the two corpses into a corner. Up until now, he had not encountered any enemies that posed a considerable threat to him; the highest tier of foes he had eliminated was around the third tier. Besides a somewhat troublesome trap near the warehouse, nearly everyone else was asleep. Most were strong commoners, and it seemed that the main force of the merchant caravan had already set sail.

Soren had killed twenty-six people.

The stench of blood in the air had intensified. If anyone woke up, he could be discovered, so he had little time left.

The cold killing intent continued to gather.

With every enemy he killed, the chill gleamed a bit more in Soren’s eyes; there was no mercy left in his heart. After quietly entering a room, he immediately unleashed a flurry of blade lights, directly slaying five people who had been asleep inside. One of them seemed to awaken, but before he could react, a cold light had already severed his head. Soren silently sheathed his blade and retreated. The courtyard was spacious, and he had to quickly take out other targets.

“Who!?”

The increasingly strong scent of blood finally disturbed the experts inside the merchant association. A burly man in the backyard suddenly opened his eyes, immediately grabbing a weapon from beside the bed. He pushed open the door to look around, and instantly let out a loud shout. Nearby, about ten men with knives and swords rushed out, disheveled. This man appeared to be an important figure in the merchant association. Others clearly gathered around him, and he commanded, “There are intruders! Quickly wake the others!”

The shadows behind him twisted.

A sudden chill made him feel all the hair on his body stand on end, producing a stiff sensation. When he looked down at his chest, a curved blade had already pierced through his heart, a bone-chilling cold penetrating his veins, and he could see frost rising at the wound. Soren did not cover his face. Since he aimed to kill all targets, there was no need for a disguise. After ending this warrior, who was approximately above the third tier, with one strike, Soren raised his finger and shot out a barrage of arcane missiles.

A slow-witted thug was instantly shot in the head, his nose obliterated, and his face caved in.

This was merely an ordinary person.

It was likely that this was a newly advanced warrior, and such an enemy couldn’t withstand even a single attack from him.

—”Brute Force Technique.”

Though he killed the retailer’s head guard in an instant, the number of attackers still rallied a glimmer of courage among the remaining guards. Someone clearly attempted to sound the alarm bell, but unfortunately, Soren shot him down with a crossbow, enhanced by the Universal Skillful Hand, improving his accuracy. The opponent was shot directly in the head. Soren drew out another curved blade with a swift motion. Then, wielding dual blades, he charged toward the more than ten remaining guards of the merchant caravan. He leapt suddenly, using the rafters for leverage, causing the beam to tremble. In an instant, the blades cut through the air, slitting two enemies’ throats.

An aura of fear began to spread.

Clearly, many were frightened, while others planned to flee for help.

Soren’s expression remained frigid. He charged directly toward ten times his number of enemies, and amidst the myriad of flashing blades, blood splattered, severed limbs were left in his wake. A minute and a half later, Soren sheathed his blades, and twelve dead bodies lay behind him, their throats cut. Horrified shouts reverberated in the darkness, alerting nearby members of the merchant association, but seemingly no one dared to approach recklessly, as the bloody scent had grown exceedingly strong.

Soren expressionlessly pulled out his crossbow and shot down the shouting target.

There were few living left.

He coldly glanced around, then lit a torch and tossed it towards the warehouse. The task assigned by the Naga Priestess required total annihilation; he had little time to clean the battlefield and could only pick some valuables to take with him before finishing off the remaining targets.

This was just the first clearing point; he still had to burn the ships at the port.

It must be completed within half an hour!

Otherwise, the Taro Port guard might mobilize. Though he was assisting the Ocean Temple in dealing with the unfaithful, he was not suited to directly engage with the guards.

At Taro Port, near the harbor.

Soren threw the throat-slit corpses into the sea, then leapt fiercely onto the water’s surface. Even though he jumped from over ten meters high, he did not fall into the sea but lightly touched the water and then soared about ten meters forward, as if he were on solid ground. This was the power of the Floating State. For wizards, this spell merely means hovering, but for Wanderers, it produces the effect of incredible agility. Soren didn’t need to be in a complete floating state; he merely needed a floating point to reduce impact, enabling many high-difficulty maneuvers.

For instance, climbing ability. Many people believed it was useless.

But for Soren, with just one leap and a handhold, he could spin 360 degrees while jumping, leaving his enemies below stunned.

Many fundamental abilities should not be overlooked in battle!

Rumbling.

A loud crash sounded, followed closely by two large ships erupting into flames. One of the ships had already begun to sink.

Soren frowned as he looked at the bloodstains covering him and then vanished into the darkness. The first wave of cleansing had been completed. Surely his performance would satisfy the Naga Priestess since there were practically no survivors tonight. The number of targets Soren had eliminated was nearing a hundred!

Once upon a time, he could also unleash unrivaled chaotic dances among the crowd.

………………

Today was not peaceful in Taro Port.

Because many people died last night, and many were gone.

The Rosad Merchant Association near the port had been completely wiped out; nearly fifty people had no survivors, with most having their throats slit. The entire process showed almost no signs of resistance; it was nearly a one-sided slaughter. By dawn, the large ships docked nearby were aflame, with sailors either burned alive or having their throats cut. Only a few revelers had survived but were too terrified to show themselves, hiding in some corner.

The entire Taro Port was shaken.

Overnight, the name “Throat Cutter” spread throughout the port, causing many ruthless individuals to tremble.

Nearly a hundred lives!

To eliminate so many in one night undoubtedly required a quasi-legendary assassin to accomplish.

There were clearly no signs of a large-scale attack at the scene.

The killer was probably just one person!

Anyone with keen insight could see the shadow of the Ocean Temple behind this, as the Taro Port guards were merely cleaning up the aftermath, showing no intention of capturing the murderer. The only ones making moves were the followers of the Lord of Storms. After all, these merchants had converted to the Lord of Storms; if they took no action, it would certainly dampen the morale of the believers. Anyone with a bit of awareness would know this was a competition between two temples; no one would be crazy enough to engage in such a conflict.

Because it was simply too dangerous!

At the Ocean Temple.

Soren’s figure emerged from the shadows. The Naga Sea Monster was already waiting here, a trace of a smile appeared on her dark-blue face as she slowly said, “Very good! I am quite satisfied with your efficiency! These unfaithful ones deserve such thunderous punishment!”

“You don’t need to worry about the few who got away. I will arrange for someone to deal with them.”

“Recently, you need to be cautious. The followers of the Lord of Storms seem to be taking action; they are investigating who killed those unfaithful ones. But it’s not a big issue; the power of the Ocean Goddess should not be underestimated; they won’t take direct action against you. At most, they might hire some adventurers. I will secretly send help to you; they don’t dare to engage in open conflict.”

“The faith of the goddess has stabilized.”

“Those restless individuals who wanted to change their faith have all calmed down. It seems they should understand the consequences of betraying the faith of the Ocean Goddess.”

“Follow me.”

“Your performance last night deserves a reward, and I have also prepared some helpers for you. Perhaps you may be interested in serving the Ocean Goddess; whether it’s wealth or power, the Ocean Temple can provide you with what you desire.”

The faith in the Evil God does not require love; it merely needs to instill fear and awe in the believers.

The Naga Priestess smiled as she led Soren toward the back of the main hall. After killing the first batch of targets, her mood seemed to improve.

More importantly, those who had been restless due to interests had all settled down.

Fear can maintain faith for a long time!

From now on, anyone wishing to abandon the faith of the Ocean Goddess should think about their fate today. However, last night’s deterrence was not enough; they must be made to fear and tremble at the thought of the consequences of betrayal.

The killing should not stop.

More blood must be shed to tell them the price of betrayal! The might of the Ocean Goddess was never born from mercy!
