Chapter 31: Conspiracies Abound! (For Alliance Leader Shura and his little JJ!)
Taro Port, Ocean Temple.
At the lowest part of the temple connected to the sea, the Naga Priestess stood silently in front of a high platform, waiting. Soon, a subtle movement in the water was heard, followed by a strong Naga Guard swimming out and standing upright like a snake before her, slightly bowing and saying, “Your Excellency the Priestess! The Throat Cutter has gone to Shipwreck Bay; he seems to have no intention of seeking assistance from the temple.”
The Naga Priestess narrowed her eyes slightly and said slowly, “Is that so? It seems he is confident he can deal with those at Shipwreck Bay?”
The Naga Guard hesitated for a moment and then said solemnly, “Your Excellency the Priestess? Why are we investing so much effort into this human? Although his strength is quite good, we Naga also have many warriors who are not weaker than him! Besides, we still support a Pirate King; do we really need to pour so many resources into him?”
A strange smile appeared on the Naga Priestess’s face as she glanced at him playfully, then suddenly swung her hand and struck him with a whip, saying, “Do you need to question my arrangements? You are getting more and more audacious!”
The Naga Guard remained silent, bearing the strike.
The Naga Priestess seemed to smile in anger, stating, “It appears you’ve gained quite a bit of confidence; what has the royal family promised you? Do you still remember whom you should be loyal to?”
After a moment of hesitation, the Naga Guard replied slowly, “I am forever loyal to the Ocean Goddess.”
“Good to know.” The Naga Priestess shot him a cold glance and firmly stated, “Although Asrold is one of the three great Pirate Kings, he is more inclined towards the Naga royal family; his power is more supported by the royal family. Don’t think I don’t know what those guys are after. Was the last cleansing not enough? They actually want to resurrect that monster; even though the Ocean Goddess is in slumber, she is still the ruler of the sea. No one can threaten her reign!”
“A defeated one already killed by the goddess cannot rule the sea again!”
The Naga Priestess seemed to be warning something, then slowly said, “We need the power of that human. While the faith in the Ocean Goddess spreads across the sea, it mainly concentrates on the Naga and Fishmen. We do not have a strong base among humans; this is the closest place to humans. Just along the coastal islands, we are already blocked by other forces. To spread the faith of the Ocean Goddess to all coastal areas, we must rely on human power!”
“There are too many humans; they regard the goddess’s significance greater than that of the ocean races!”
“Although the Naga tribe has many powerful believers, can they operate in human areas? Can they spread the goddess’s faith on land? They can’t even enter coastal cities!”
“Here.”
“In Taro Port, we spent hundreds of years establishing a foothold, but even now, I cannot freely appear before humans because humans are a very exclusive race!”
“They fear us.”
“We can only influence a few coastal cities. The core strength of the Ocean Church can hardly enter these cities. We need human power; that human is the easiest legendary figure for us to recruit! Moreover, I can see the potential in him; if such a person could join the Ocean Church, we should soon be able to spread the faith to coastal cities!”
“Send out a Ghost Ship.”
“We need to monitor his movements. He actually thinks that once he subdues those pirates, he can deal with the Swamp King. Those trash wouldn’t even be able to stand under the Swamp King’s monsters.”
“By the way.”
The Naga Priestess thought for a moment and then said, “Keep an eye on the movements of the Devilfish; if necessary, let the Sea Bandit Fishmen intercept them; these monsters have been bred for quite a while.”
“Contact Asrold. The Son of Dagon has been severely injured; this time we must completely eliminate the followers of the King of the Deep Sea!”
“He will be a very good bait!”
“The Swamp King is a foolish and brutal opponent. It definitely cannot resist the temptation of a follower of the Ocean Goddess; as long as he can kill him, the Swamp King can perform a high-level blasphemous sacrifice; the Demon Lord Dagon will definitely be pleased to respond to its sacrificial prayers held in honor of the Ocean Goddess!”
………………
Shipwreck Bay.
Soren stood at the bow of the ship, watching the pirate ships appearing in the distance. The number of ships in front of him exceeded his expectations, flying various flags; nearly half the pirates of Shipwreck Bay seemed to have gathered here. However, the genuinely threatening warships were still few, perhaps about ten, while most were fast boats operating close to shore. These ships were prepared by small pirates, relying on speed to catch up to merchant ships and throwing hooks to engage in boarding battles.
“Wow… so many enemies!…”
From behind came the sound of a pirate swallowing hard, seemingly trembling a bit; these trash could only take advantage of the wind, and seeing such a large number of enemies made them a bit weak-kneed.
Adele Isabella seemed a bit nervous as well; she picked up a telescope to take a look and then said solemnly, “Your Excellency! Besides the Sea Wolves, there are other pirates; among them are Northern People’s pirates, and it seems that many small groups of pirates have been gathered by him.”
Soren frowned and remained silent.
The morale of their pirates was low; this group of trash had little loyalty, and seeing nearly five to six times the numerical difference left them with little desire to fight.
They must boost their courage for battle!
Soren turned and stood on the high platform. He observed the pirates on three nearby warships, then spoke with a cold voice, “Victory will surely belong to us! Shipwreck Bay will become our territory!”
“And among you, the bravest will become the captain of my fleet!”
“Open your eyes wide!”
“Watch how these trash are annihilated!”
Under the sea.
A massive shadow began to advance; a twenty-meter-long orca gradually swam closer. A cruel smile appeared on Soren’s lips as he lightly snapped his fingers, and a nearby small pirate ship suddenly shook violently, then was flipped over by a giant shadow in the sea. These fast boats had no capacity to withstand the wind and waves; some looked just like large sailing vessels, their hulls smaller than the orca’s body.
“Ah ah ah!… Sea monster!… Sea monster!… There’s a sea monster!!!…”
Although he could not control a giant octopus, the orca was enough to deal with these trash. The Tier Three orca had a significant advantage in size, and its more than twenty-meter-long body could overturn those fast ships with just a collision. One could only see a shadow swimming in the water, followed by ship after ship sinking to the bottom of the sea. Upon seeing the number of enemies, Soren had the idea of letting the orca expend its energy, directly controlling the orca to smash a large number of pirates.
A series of splashes were heard, and the enemy’s numbers were directly reduced by nearly half! Because there were too many miscellaneous fish among them!
The sea was filled with pirates.
Many pirates desperately scrambled up to the large ship, for in the ocean, they were not enough to fill the orca’s gaps. This giant marine creature seemed to show signs of mutation; they did not know if it was due to having consumed too many enemies through killing.
“Prepare for battle!”
Adele clearly noticed this opportunity; glancing at her high-spirited subordinates, she shouted, “Full right rudder! Gunners prepare! Fire!”
Boom boom boom!
A series of muffled sounds rang out.
The power of the cannons in this era was not particularly high, and they all used solid ammo, but they still had some lethality; because the enemies were too densely packed, one gunner directly broke the mast of a warship. The mast snapped halfway with a tremendous sound under the strain and collapsed, crashing onto the deck, immediately crushing several unfortunate guys.
“Prepare for a boarding battle!”
Adele drew her longsword from her waist, and some brave pirates also came to the edge of the deck; cannons could only be considered decoration; the real determinant of victory was still close-quarters combat. The alchemy craft in this world was strictly limited by the church and druids, making it nearly impossible for these cannons to hit the powerful professionists directly, and the loading speed of the cannons was also too slow.
Soren’s figure also disappeared at this moment!
He needed a perfect massacre to establish his authority; he needed absolute means to suppress these pirates.
Killings were the best method.
