Chapter 47 Special Significance
Taro Port.
Today’s Taro Port looks very different, the entire port is marked by an eerie silence.
The characters from all walks of life who usually mingle on this island have settled down today, even the guards responsible for maintaining order seem a bit distracted. What they witnessed today was simply too shocking, shocking enough that the entire Taro Port fell silent in that moment, as if everyone was waiting for something, or rather waiting for the arrival of a certain noble.
Dragon Head Warship!
The warship of the Swamp King, a pirate ship that is said to be cursed and blasphemed, has been circulated along the entire Southern Coast for over a hundred years.
Among the three great pirate kings of the Southern Coast, the Amazon Pirate King is the strongest overall as she is backed by the Storm Temple and the Amazon tribe. Although the pirate king Asrold, supported by the Naga sea tribe, is also powerful, he still falls slightly short. The Swamp King is the weakest in comprehensive strength among the three great pirate kings, yet he is the strongest in personal combat ability. This monster has ravaged the Southern Coast for over a hundred years. There have been those who challenged him, but very few have been able to defeat him, let alone k*ll him and seize his Dragon Head Warship.
A group of fierce-looking pirates stands at the dock.
The guards at Taro Port actually dare not approach to stop them, as the morale of these pirates is exceptionally high, as if they have a momentum that threatens anyone who dares to get in their way.
The Swamp King is dead!
They are now under the command of one of the three great pirate kings, the Throat Cutter, and a new force has risen, not just in Taro Port, but throughout the Southern Coast, making them one of the most formidable powers!
Soren’s figure stands above the Dragon Head Warship, watching the Taro Port before him, as if waiting for something.
In just two short days.
Soren’s forces have skyrocketed fivefold. After the news of his killing the Swamp King spread, pirates from all corners of the Southern Coast came to pay their respects, and more than ten scattered pirate groups have gradually joined his ranks. Even those unwilling to ally with him have sent gifts to express their awe. Within these two days, Soren has received nearly ten thousand Gind through tributes, including quite a number of precious goods.
Taking over!
Having killed the Swamp King, Soren naturally would not waste such a good opportunity. He revealed his flag yesterday and officially became one of the pirate kings of the Southern Coast.
On the Dragon Head Warship flies a black flag!
There are no extra decorations, no flashy patterns, just a pair of crossing curved blades on the black flag.
Black flag, black sails, black hull.
The ominous black seems to brew a sense of killing intent that shrouds Taro Port, making many feel a slight unease. Soren looks coldly at Taro Port, behind him are seven warships and dozens of fast ships, his forces have gathered over a thousand pirates. From Taro Port to Shipwreck Bay, all pirate groups have expressed their submission to him. Some have even directly joined his ranks.
These pirates have yet to be completely subdued, and Soren lacks the energy to slow down the process.
So he used a simple and rough method to resolve it.
That is to demonstrate!
Today’s Soren is no longer the past Soren; he now has the strength to arm wrestle with the Naga Priestess.
A giant head hangs from the Dragon Head Warship, and a four to five meter tall body swings from the mast. The shattered corpse has been stitched up and directly hung on the mast. It is the Swamp King, who died at Vivian’s hands. Soren received news yesterday that the reinforcements that should have appeared ran hundreds of miles away to Demon Island, capturing the spoils and wealth that rightfully belonged to him. Then the reinforcements promised by the Naga Priestess simply packed up and went back to their old lair.
This is simply outrageous!
When Soren heard this news, his eyes blazed with bloodlust.
He fought with the Swamp King, more than half of his men were killed, and the pirate king Asrold, who was supposed to be one of his crucial reinforcements, actually circled around to launch a sneak attack on the Swamp King’s lair, robbing the wealth on Demon Island that belonged to Soren, and made no indication afterward.
This is completely a slap in the face!
And it feels like a ruthless slap across Soren’s face. He could even imagine the mocking expression on the other’s face; he fought tirelessly while the other swept in from the back and made a fortune!
Soren needs an explanation.
This explanation cannot be sought from Asrold, one of the three great pirate kings, as Soren currently lacks the strength to confront him head-on. However, he cannot show no reaction at all, as that would make him appear easy to bully, so Soren must demand an answer from the Naga Priestess, who initially made promises to him!
Soren still made no move.
He did not set foot on the dock of Taro Port, merely waiting atop the Dragon Head Warship.
This is a demonstration.
It is also a display of strength and power; if the Naga Priestess fails to give him the result he desires, Soren has already prepared himself to completely turn against her.
The Naga Priestess is the Naga Priestess, the Ocean Goddess is the Ocean Goddess!
Soren has eliminated an important subordinate of the Abyss Lord Dagon, making him a favored individual in the eyes of the Ocean Goddess. Deities do not shun their favored ones because of the attitude of a single priestess. In fact, from the moment he killed the Swamp King, the Naga Priestess has been unable to use her influence to change Soren’s standing in the eyes of the Ocean Goddess. Because she is merely a servant of the Ocean Goddess, even if her relationship with Soren deteriorates to the point of wanting to k*ll each other, the Naga Priestess can only mobilize the strength of the temple and cannot use the power of the Ocean Goddess to place Soren on the opposing side of the Ocean Church.
In other words.
Soren’s plan succeeded!
He has proven his worth and expanded his influence, and the Naga Priestess can no longer use the Ocean Church to suppress Soren, whether she likes him or hates him. Because Soren has already stood in front of the Ocean Goddess, and the tribute ceremony he performed after killing the Swamp King received a response from the Ocean Goddess, who clearly felt a sense of joy upon seeing the important servant of the conflicting deity slain.
Soren has pleased the Ocean Goddess!
His status has transformed in an instant, turning from merely a favored individual due to the Naga Priestess to a true favored one of the deity.
As long as he continues to please the Ocean Goddess!
………………
Time passes second by second.
Soren’s brows furrowed slightly as he calculated the time. If the Naga Priestess has not made any indication, he will leave Taro Port now; from then on, both sides will go their separate ways. The Ocean Church is not comprised of only this one temple; the Naga Priestess cannot use the church’s powers to suppress him. Soren can still grow strong without the Naga Priestess. However, he also recognizes the vast resources controlled by the Naga Priestess and plans to use this to force her to make concessions, at least to secure an equal standing for himself.
If the Naga Priestess still does not grant him equal standing now, then there is no reason for Soren to continue cooperating with her!
A slight commotion arises in the crowd ahead.
Then they see the dark mass of people parting in all directions, and the knight guards of the Ocean Temple appear before them, followed by the figure of the Naga Priestess emerging from the parted crowd.
This is her first time appearing in front of Soren in such a manner!
The Naga Priestess wears a blue robe and holds the scepter representing the Ocean Goddess. She ignores the others around her, whether they are awe-struck or terrified, and moves gracefully to the front of the port.
“Your Excellency!”
The Naga Priestess slightly bows her head and quickly raises it again, gazing directly at Soren for the first time, addressing him with the term “Your Excellency.”
She is expressing her respect.
Not only to Soren but also conveying a message to the entire Taro Port.
A wave of astonishment arises from around, as the Naga Priestess personally comes out to welcome Soren, the implications are simply too significant!
This is a compromise.
It also represents a form of return and compensation!
